Chapter 3
Madison's Reflection
It has been a few days since the ride to Tennessee and Madison was really starting to let her mind wander off. "How is it that seemingly over night I have turned from a faithful wife to an absolute slut?" she wondered in a soft tone to herself. So many questions and absolutely no answers as of yet. "Why did I ever marry Tyler? What is going on with me? And more important why do I like the change?" she questioned to herself out loud, the questions kept coming and she couldn't think of any answers.
As she pulled up and parked the car, Tyler was sitting on the stairs leading to the front door of their home looking at her as if to wonder where she had been. Walking by him almost as if oblivious to his presence he grabbed her hand "we need to talk." He exclaimed with a slight concern in his voice.
"What is there to talk about? Football, fishing, hunting, O yeah I learned this really cool thing I can do with the radio in the car." She said with sarcasm in her voice as she knew what he meant.
Once in the house the argument started with Tyler slamming the front door. Madison turned around with fury in her voice "Don't slam the door you didn't pay for! We wouldn't even have this house if it wasn't for my family! I don't even know why I agreed to marry you when there are plenty of others that would love to have me as their wife and ONLY THEIR WIFE!" With that last statement Tyler wanted to crawl under a rock. "I'll get a job and I'll start doing things the way I'm meant to. You've been acting like somebody else lately and I'm sorry I didn't mean anything I was just wanting to have a little fun with you baby." with a quick reply and almost without thinking about it Madison snapped back "Don't fucking baby me! I was perfectly fine pretending that our little world was perfect until I found out by YOU that all am a worth to you is a cell phone that you don't even have anymore"
Tyler knew that he had crossed a line. It had been him cheating and being selfish that had caused the snap in Madison's mind. "Ever since I inherited this house, do you think that just because you are my husband you can just exist here and not do the things a husband should be doing?" She asked while on the verge of tears. While at one point in time she wanted to give Tyler the benefit of the doubt and try to make things work but quickly realized everything was coming to an end. "I'm going to take a bath do what you want I honestly don't care." Madison spoke as she closed the door to their master bedroom.
With the sound of water filling the tub to mask her sobbing, she felt the anger in her being replace by grief as she undressed and eased into the steaming water. "you're stronger than this Madison" she kept repeating to herself as she began to question the events of her life. Why couldn't things go back to the way they were when we first met as teenagers? This was a question she was asking even before the recent events and her journey into infidelity. They grew up as a tightly knit group of teenagers in a small town near Bayou Blue, Louisiana and things were a lot easier back then. The group was made up of course by Tyler and Bill, Stephan, PJ, Monica, and Jeff and they used to do everything together. Normally they would be fishing or swimming in the bayou being that there really wasn't much to do in the town so they made do with the time they had.
As the hot water relaxed her body her mind also relaxed and a devious idea popped into her head. She was going to give Tyler a taste of his own medicine. He shouldn't get off as easy as divorce or being constantly reminded of how bad that piece of shit he is. "If he can cheat so can I, he is the one that opened the door to our marriage" Madison mumbled to herself as she pulled the plug to drain the now warm water of her bath. When she came from the bedroom dressed in only her house coat Tyler was really trying to the extreme to make things up to her. "Madison, I know that I haven't been the best husband to you over our marriage but I know the other day I made a horrible mistake" Tyler said with his held low and an apologetic tone in his voice.
"I've called Jeff and tomorrow I start a job at the furniture store. I'm promised 50 hours a week and 14 an hour." He said with a little hope in his voice, almost as if he knew this was the final straw. Jeff had always been a hustler and working his way thru life and getting connections had led him to own his own furniture store. It was a single store but it was his and he did rather well for himself. He knew what kind of person Tyler was but she believed Jeff was trying to help make things easier on her.
"Tyler can I ask you a question and you give me a straight answer with no bullshit?" Madison asked. Tyler nodded his head yes almost as if he could read the situation and where things were going.
