There is a house. It's a beautiful house. It's three stories, technically. Perhaps even four if one was to count the rather large basement level. Then again every level is as large as it needs to be at any given moment. The house is blue with white trim. The blue isn't very dark nor is it very light but a wonderfully beautiful and relaxing shade of the sky. In fact, when looking at it with the white trim and from a distance one might say it blends into the sky.
The pathway to the wooden door is cobblestone with wildflower bushes on either side, perfectly pruned and trimmed. The green grass of the front yard is impeccably kept as are the two big elm trees where doves have made nests that serve as a gate of sorts just where the small cobblestone path begins.
The house serves a purpose. It's an inne. Not a hotel, not a bed and breakfast; no. The manager prefers it to be called an "inne" so that is what it is called by the staff who are there at any given time. Of course the manager is right. It's an inne and it has a name, as does she. The name of the inne is The House of Desire and the manager's name is Venus or that is what she prefers to be called at the moment.
Now, this is not what the inne is advertised as. In fact, it's not advertised at all. People just find it. But where do people find it? Anywhere. It exists and that is enough. Sometimes they're driving and happen upon it when they need it, sometimes a few keystrokes on their laptop lead them to a review site where they'll happen upon it without knowing why they went looking in the first place on a site that they'll never ever find again. Of course the answer is simple; deep down they knew what they wanted and the House heard and reached out. That's where the House is, just around the corner of nowhere and over there. That was how Victoria Justice found The House.
Victoria Justice was a very social person normally. If she went out, she went out with friends and her sister. If she went on vacation, she went with her sister. She enjoyed it for the most part, but sometimes she wished to fly solo. That was what was on her mind when she was absentmindedly searching the internet. She didn't even remember opening her laptop but before she knew it Victoria had happened upon a page who's address she couldn't remember where she booked a room for a long weekend at a place that she didn't know how to get to. She didn't question it though. Nobody ever did with the House.
Victoria packed light, just what she would need for four days away and got in her car early on a Friday morning, before the sun even thought it would be a good idea to shine, and drove off. She told her sister the night before, far too short a notice for any plans to be changed. The starlet felt a twinge of guilt for that, but she also knew it was the only way she'd have the time to herself.
When she exited the highway the sun still wasn't up. The windows were down, her long dark brown hair flowing in the wind as the 70's station played songs that sounded like they floated on air. She was driving through the desert now, the sun just coming up and turning the midnight blue of the sky into purple and pink with just the faintest hint of gold. By the time she found the House the faintest hints of blue began to emerge into the sky. She drove down a smooth dirt path until she reached an oasis of lush greens speckled with the bright coloring of assorted flowers and in the middle of that, perfectly framed between two elm trees was the House.
There was a quick sound of double beeps followed by the sound of plastic wheels click-clacking as Victoria pulled her single piece of luggage to the door, which was open. She went through the threshold, the door hitting a bell and signaling her arrival.
The lobby of the house was a lot to take in with how luxurious and beautiful it was. The dominating colors brought the ocean to mind, blue and greens and coral. Seashells and sea glass made up some of the decorations along with paintings of ocean landscapes and swans. There was so much to take in that Victoria could barely register it all. Somehow it all felt so much bigger than it should be, the whole place did and all she'd seen was one room. But before she could explore further the actress heard someone calling for her.
"Excuse me miss," said a female voice. It was coming from a room just to Victoria's right. The actress followed to a new room that was smaller but no less ornate. There was a counter built into the room with a shelf full of several different square cubby holes on it pinned to the wall like something out of a cheap motel from an old movie. Of course, there was nothing cheap about what was seen. The wood was very well polished, every thing was clean to the point it almost sparkled and of course there was the woman behind the counter, the origin of the voice that brought Victoria into the reception area.
The woman was gorgeous and even that was selling her short. She was a strawberry blonde with a face so beautiful it was almost hypnotic and she wore clothes that, despite seeming very professional looked like the sexiest thing a woman a could wear and it matched the colors of the house as well. She wore a necklace around her neck of small seashells which brought attention to her voluptuous cleavage.
"You're Ms. Justice, aren't you?" the woman asked. "I've been expecting you."
"Am I late for check in?" asked Victoria, approaching the counter. "I don't remember seeing any set time." Victoria also couldn't really remember booking the room, but that thought didn't have time to fully form before the impossibly gorgeous woman answered her.
"Hardly," she replied. "Any time would have been right on time. I'm Venus by the way, and I welcome you to what is guaranteed to be the getaway you've always dreamed of."
