It is Paulie Walnuts who tells Sammy Trincati to go over and live with the widow of Tony Soprano.
"Just keep an eye on her," Paulie tells Sammy who just a few weeks before got out of prison. In fact he got out three days before Tony Soprano was murdered in the diner. In fact Tony even showed up at Sammy's welcome back party at the Bada Bing.
When Sammy went into prison he was 25 years old and because he kept his mouth shut in prison he was welcomed back with open arms and told whatever he had before going to prison he had now.
Sammy Trincati is now 30 years old and a few days after his party he was busy putting together a bookie operation and recruiting guys who would be a part of his crew.
He was sitting at a desk when the phone rang and it was Paulie who told him that the boss had been clipped.
Because of Tony Soprano's murder, Sammy put everything on hold and attended to whatever the Family needed done.
It was Paulie who told Sammy that he wanted him to move in with Carmela. He told Sammy that young AJ was living with Carmela's parents and Meadow was at college in California.
"I want you to watch over her," the new boss of the New Jersey crew told him.
Sammy did not really want to do this but orders were orders and he was going to follow them.
So Sammy Trincati moved into the home of his dead boss and he made himself at home.
Sammy remembered Carmela as a good looking woman and when he saw her he saw that the woman still looked good.
"Make yourself at home," Carmela told Sammy. Sammy said he would and proceeded to do so.

On that first night Carmela makes spaghetti and Sammy has to admit it was the best he ever has had.
The two chat at the kitchen table and Carmela begins to cry when she talks about Tony.

When Sammy finally climbs out of bed and walks out of the room he decides to go to the kitchen and get something to drink. He assumes Carmela is in her bedroom but instead he finds her at the kitchen sink with her back turned. When Carmela had come into his room she was wearing her white pants and a tank top. Hoping Carmela won't notice him Sammy opens up the refrigerator and it is then that Carmela turns around and instead of an angry look on her face she has a bright smile.
"Are you okay?" she askes as she holds a cup in her hand she is drying off.
Sammy nods his head and begins to say he is sorry but before he can say anything else Carmela puts down the glass and wraps her arms around the man's shoulders.
"No need to apologize Sammy. I understand," Carmela says as she holds the man close to her. Sammy can smell Carmela's perfume and when she pulls away her robe falls open for just a brief second and Sammy catches a glimpse of her naked body. Including the high-cut panties she is wearing.
