Chapter 3

Confessions

"Meet me here tonight after work." His eyes told her he was nothing but serious. Something about this difficult man felt tender.

"Tonight?" She asked. She looked at her watch. "I get off work around five or so," she told him. She felt like she was holding her breath. Like something she said wasn't going to go well and then.

Images of him floated through her mind. His smile, the sparkle in his eyes when she did the right thing. The belt he always wore and always used for punishment if she deserved punishment. This man...

She swallowed hard. "I'll be here as soon as I can..." she turned and then turned back. "I promise." she paused a few moments...then she said like it was a question."Master...?"

He just nodded his head. "I'll be waiting." His hands dropped to his belt. Her eyes dropped to the ground.

She walked away. He watched her swing her hips like only she could. She always took his breath away. But he'd never tell her that. There was a line he didn't dare cross if he wanted her by his side again, and there was no question in his mind as to where he wanted her.

"You mean that you told her about your past and she didn't run away screaming?" His friend took a big sip of his coffee and then dunked his cookie into the remaining coffee in his cup and waited a few moments...

"I told her...yes," Jay answered. "For us to move forward she has to look back at the past."

"It's your life..." his friend replied. "But, I think I would have approached her and pretended that we'd just met and start over again."

Jay laughed. "And when she starts to remember..." He laid down his fork and picked up his spoon. "We were 'one'," he replied. "She 'will'" he said firmly, "remember...how could she forget forever?"

-------------

Jay sat down on the bench just outside the coffee shop. He'd just arrived and wanted to wait outside in the nice air. He also wanted to watch her walk towards him. He wanted...He sighed...he wanted....

Just up the street, along the furthest traffic light he was able to see, she approached. Her long reddish hair was blowing in the breeze and her short red skirt was dancing around her legs like birds trying to fly away.

Everything about her...he sighed. "Get it together," he told himself.

"There he is!" She firmly told herself. "He's waiting..."

Something unsettling crossed her mind. A faded image came into focus. Master standing along the street. On a corner along side the street where he lived. He'd been waiting for her too long. She knew this because of the cross look she saw on his face and the way he moved his body. His hand was cupped around his belt. She'd panicked and rushed up to him full of apologies. He'd have none of that. He'd...

She arrived. He smiled.

"I'm sorry, I'm a few minutes late..." she stopped walking and lowered her head.

"You're not late," he corrected her. "We had no certain time."

He patted the seat next to him. "We will remain in the public's eyes."

She looked at him with a big question mark on her face.

"I want you to feel safe. Here, everyone can see us." He looked around. "We need to talk." He cleared his throat. "I have things to tell you."

"To be your Master again..." He paused a few moments. "I need to earn your trust, and you need to remember..."

She sat down. Her long reddish hair blew around her body as the wind picked up.

He loved her hair. He had purchased many items for her to wear in her long red locks. Today, he noticed, she was wearing the tiny little red bird on a hairpin along the side of her face where he'd accidentally fallen on top of her. She had begged him to buy it for her one day when they were street shopping. It had been handmade by a local crafts person. They'd went back and purchased several others because of her fondness for them. But, she had to earn each pin.

"I do remember somethings now," she confessed. His mind stopped remembering the past and joined in the conversation on hand.

"What do you remember?"

"I remember your favorite item to use for punishment," she pointed at his belt.

"Ah," he replied, "but do you remember your favorite reward?"

She looked at him puzzled. "I'm sure you'll remember," he assured her. "Time with help with that."
