Chapter 10

Alex

Wednesday evening Alex turned in relatively early, irritated at Toni for working so much more than her, irritated at her friends for not being available, and feeling very neglected, even though she knew she was being a brat.

Thursday didn't turn out much better. She was working from right after her last class let out to close, and by the time she got home, she crashed without even showering.

By the time Friday came around, she was in a fairly foul mood all around, and decided that she was going to go out, her friends and her "boyfriend" be damned. School couldn't pass fast enough, and while she was polite to Bear, it was obvious that she wasn't in a great mood, so he left her alone.

After class, she texted Beck one last time to see if he was going to ask her to hang out. Unsurprisingly, he didn't, and she figured that he might be a lost cause. Still, she figured that if he asked her out again, she would consider going. He was nice, and after all, she was getting pissed that he wasn't using her, not that he wasn't a gentleman.

Heading home, she took a power nap and did what homework she'd been assigned early, hoping that the weekend might turn into something interesting, and not wanting to have that causing her worry in the back of her mind.

Restlessly, she texted her friends, spoke to Sam while she got ready for the Friday afternoon shift at Double D's, and then finally went to visit with her twin.

Sitting there at her computer, Toni was browsing through something on the internet that seemed to have piqued her interest. Alex stood in the doorway a moment and then entered, shutting the door behind her. Toni jumped slightly, apparently not noticing that Alex had even been there.

"What the hell Alex?" she asked, glancing over before looking back to the computer.

Alex raised an eyebrow. "I've been standing there for like 10 seconds."

Toni didn't answer, still looking at the screen.

Sighing, Alex went over and saw what she was looking at. "Jesus, Toni," she said, sighing and shaking her head.

"No, check it out," she said, nodding at the screen. On it, she saw a porn website, but it looked more like an artsy type of thing than just pure smut. Slightly intrigued, she leaned in and looked as Toni scrolled through.

"Neat," Alex said flatly, wondering what the point was.

Toni sighed, turning to look at her. "Wednesday night, I was working, and this older woman and man came in." She turned and grabbed a business card off her desk and offered it up to Alex. It had the name of the website, and the woman's name and her web address.

"Camille's Creations?" Alex asked.

"That's the legitimate name of her business," Toni said. "She photographs families and graduations and stuff."

"They sat at the bar," Toni said, turning back to look at the website while she explained. "We got to talking and she told me that she also runs this website and said that if I was interested that I could come by and see what it was all about. She turned and smiled at Alex as if that explained it all.

"Toni..." Alex said, shaking her head.

She sighed and turned. "We were talking and that's what I told her it sounded like. She'd mentioned something about seeing me wait tables and that I must work all the sections, and so I told her that I had a twin, and that's when she mentioned the other side of her work."

Alex groaned, stepping back to sit on the bed. "Please don't make me do this, Toni."

Toni smiled and turned to face her. "I think I might go check it out. She just about flipped out when I told her I had an identical twin. You don't have to go with me if you don't want to. I just want to talk to her and see what the possibilities are."

Alex nodded. "You live your own life, Toni. I'm not going to tell you not to do something."

"I look just like you, stupid," Toni said. "I'm not going to put myself naked on a porn website if my TWIN sister isn't okay with it."

Alex smiled, thankful that Toni wasn't completely selfish. "I appreciate that. I guess, just go check it out."

Toni smiled. "You can come with me. I'm gonna see if she has time tomorrow or Sunday."

Alex nodded. "As long as you know that I'm not going to be doing it."

Toni smiled widely and burst from the chair, practically tackling Alex back into the bed. She kissed her briefly but then sat back, smiling.

"Working tonight?" Alex asked, collecting herself.

Toni nodded. "Afterwards, I'm going out with Wade. It's been too long, and I don't want my baby going anywhere else to get his needs met; except for you of course. Wanna come with?"

Part of her really wanted to, but Alex decided to see what other kind of trouble she could get into. Shaking her head, she looked up at Toni, not wanting to hurt her little sister's feelings.

"I think I'll see if Beck is busy, or if the guys are," she said, hoping her twin wouldn't see through the white lie.

Toni smiled, then stood, going back over to the computer and sitting down to look at her porn.

Alex rolled her eyes and left the room. As she did so, she saw Dane just then entering his own room and stepped across the hall quietly. He turned and smiled, seeing her standing there.

"Hey Alex," he said.

"Working tonight?" she asked.

He smiled. "Yeah, Danny's gonna come up to the bar," he said. "He's flying solo tonight so we're gonna hang out and have a beer or two."

Alex smiled. "Sounds good. I'm thinking of going out myself."

He nodded. "You're welcome to be there. Sally will be working too."

Alex smiled, dirty thoughts swirling in her head and smiled as she spun on her heel and left the room.

For Sam, Wednesday evening had been pretty spectacular. She'd been able to get off with her sweetheart, Keith, and then had even gotten a little flirty with that boy from class.

As luck would have it, as soon as Sam walked into the waitress area, Kara walked in and started putting an order in the machine.

Kara glanced over and smiled widely.

"Sammy!" she said, grinning. Pausing with what she was doing, she turned and hugged her before resuming what she was doing. The two chatted idly for a second about things before Sam was able to ask what she wanted.

Kara, still mostly focusing on what she was doing, finally looked up and nodded, smiling. "Well, give me a few minutes and then I'll come over to your section."

Sam smiled, and went to look in on her guests. She brought the table of businessmen another round of drinks as they ordered them, and then saw Kara come around the corner.

"Got a good table we can flirt with?" she asked, coming close.

Sam smiled and nodded. "Table 12," she said, nodding at the businessmen.

Kara glanced over and smiled widely. "Good eye," she said, nudging her. "Watch momma work."

Sam giggled and turned, following her over.

"Well hey there gentlemen," she said, smiling widely and turning on the charm.

"Kara!" one of them men said. "When are y'all gonna start working completely topless instead of just in the evenings?"

The guy she sat next to had his arm on the back of the chair, almost as if he didn't know what to do with it. After a minute or so of listening, she slid out from the booth, making a show of smoothing out her skirt, and then turned to say goodbye.

Sam smiled, following her back to the waitress area.

"Wow," she said, giggling.

Sam nodded. "You're so good at it though, I'm just afraid I'll be awkward or goofy looking."

"Thank you, Kara," she said, smiling and turning to head back to check on her tables. Eventually, their food was ready and was brought out.
