It was one of dozens scattered over the surface of this pillar. There was no rhyme or reason unlike a traditional graveyard. I examined another of those massive multi-ton monoliths. This one was as ridiculous as the first I had seen. It was an inverted pyramid with the point buried in the earth and the bulk protruding skyward. I took out my phone and took photos of the monoliths from various angles. There must have been an optical illusion involved. I was so caught up that I didn't notice him until he moved. "How do they do it? I mean they should have crashed to the ground a long time ago." I said, and Digger scratched his chin.

"Stay in the light." I muttered.

"Wise words." He said looking around. "The black moon is coming. Don't come back here then or they won't find your body like the others. I must go. It is getting colder and that is always a bad sign."

"One sec Digger." I said taking out my phone. "Do you know this guy?" I asked showing him the photo of the man that had followed me earlier.

"Jimmy! Everyone knows Jimmy. He works for the Old Man. Don't cross him John or something bad will happen to you. The cops won't lift a finger. The Old Man owns this town. No one will admit it, but it is true."

"I believe you Digger. Thanks for everything. Let's get going."

We crossed the bridge and Jimmy was waiting. He didn't have the nerve to follow me to the cemetery. I greeted him with his name and walked back to the hotel. I returned to my room and snuggled next to Jynx. Connie had awoken and left sometime after I had went out.

I closed my eyes and drifted into the realm of dreams and nightmares. I was standing in the cemetery. Unlike the real one the dream version stretched to the horizon in all directions. The bones of the earth as Digger had called them dotted the lurid landscape. I thought I was in the presence of something akin to an elephant's graveyard. If they were bones what kind of monstrous beings did they belong to? As if on cue the ground rumbled and I lost my balance. The earth split open around the monoliths and the things beneath rose up in all their terrible horror. My mind had conjured up shapeless horrors that shifted and changed as they reared up to their full terrible height. It was difficult to see them against the dark moonless sky. I was grateful for that. The monstrosities surrounded me and moved closer with each booming step. There was a gut-wrenching stench that accompanied the things. The smell of death and corruption was overwhelming.

I awoke feeling physically sick. I raced to the bathroom and with the memory of the stink in my nose emptied my stomach contents into the toilet. I splashed water on my face and stood there shaking. Jynx was awake and standing behind me. The look of concern on her face was reassuring. I told her it was just a bad dream.

"That must have been one hell of a nightmare." She said her voice soft and comforting. "I got you." She added as her arms slipped around my waist.

"I never should have gone there." I growled.

"You left while I was asleep." Jynx said and I nodded. "Where?"

"The cemetery, that damned cemetery." I told her as I walked over and unlocked my phone before handing it to her. "Take a look."

"I threw up in the toilet." I told him. "I went to the cemetery and met Digger."
