1. Another God-damned War

Nine missiles managed to get through and they all happened to be placed in a very good formation for the Earth forces. The Bortaq carrier was heavily damaged and was adrift. The smaller fighters fought a tough fight but none got through the Earth defenses to damage the USS Guadalcanal, which had accelerated to 2.0 gravities and was headed to the only habitable planet in the system.

The admiral found out that another Earth carrier was joining them from a star system 30 light years away.
