It was shortly after dawn when Veronica had been able to get up and out of her bed at the inn. She dressed as best as she could with what was left of her armor, remembering that she need to check her order. Then she proceeded out of the building in as timely of a manner she could, leaving behind the pay that was owed for the quick breakfast.
She was glad that she didn't have to worry about room cost, as that was something the guild handled. Food and other sizable expenses were what she had to manage, and that was an easy enough impulse for her to do. It's when she's in a big city or larger town where they have more options in the market plaza for her to dream over.
From the inn she made her way over to the blacksmith's shop, where she saw the owner at work. Even at this early of a hour she could hear their merry tune of a whistle as they made ready for the day. An attitude that Veronica personally admired and wished she could one day end up emulating.
"Mornin' to ya. Hope the celebration didn't wear you out too much." the goblin said as she drew near
"Not too much, just enough to put me out good for the night." Veronica responded as she drew near, "How was the work on the patch job."
"Yes yes, I was able to put something together. Not the best, but as long as you don't go and battle anything meaner than a bear you should be fine."
"Sage advice. I'll be sure to keep it in mind."
The goblin black smith pulled out the light leather chest armor and explained as to what he did. Simply put he cut the damage part to make for a clean stitch even for the patches he had. They were made of old leather aprons that he had lying around and figured that since Veronica was going to scrap this one anyways the overall looks didn't matter.
"This'll protect you from most light attacks or glances. But a heavier more direct hit, you're down for good." he said
"The important part is that I won't be as exposed now. Thanks a lot, friend."
"Yeah, not a problem. Needed to find a use for those anyways. You take care of yourself now, ya hear."
"Sure thing." she says while putting on the armor
There was a simple wave between the two of them as Veronica parted ways from the blacksmith, and the town. A calm quite kind of feel in the air, counter to how wild and heated things were the night before. A comparison that had brought a smile to Veronica's face as she walked down the main road out and back to where the guild hall was.
She slung the shaft of her preferred weapon, a well-worn spear, over her shoulders to rest her arms along while she walked. A simple, but familiar, tune began to escape her lips in the form of a whistle, filling up the void in the air. One that she would share along with the other working girls that she'd used to hang around with not too long ago.
It wasn't exactly an overly erotic song, not compared with the ones that she knew when luring in a target. The song was more like that of a sillier and more lighthearted one that almost always got a chuckle out of her. Its story was about two virgins that were trying to out seduce each other, only to make themselves to be caught up embarrassing at the same time.
"You know, I think that you sounded better when you were fucking around yesterday." came a voice out of seemingly nowhere
Veronica went into an immediate defensive position, aiming her spear head around as she scanned her area. She spotted a few trees and shrubs here and there alongside the road, but none had anyone behind them. Besides the foliage she was completely alone on the road in either direction she could see down.
"Who said that and where are you?" Veronica demanded
"Who? Don't tell me that you've already forgotten my sensual voice. It's me, Nyx. The super cute and sexy demoness that you saved, and who had saved you."
"Okay? Where are you then? I figured that you would've poofed away back to your hell already."
"Yes, well that part is a little bit more difficult to explain. In short, I'm in your head."
"Bullshit. If you're in my head then what am I thinking?" Veronica said as she kept looking around to see nothing but the general scenery
"I'm not in your head like that, you dunce. I kind of merged our conscience together. I figured that since I gave up my body to save your life that this was the least a sexy brute like you could do for a cutie like me."
"What exactly do you mean that you gave up your body?"
"See that is the difficult part that I mentioned. So if you really want to know then how about you find a rock or a log or something to sit on so that I can explain." Nix said with a sigh
Veronica rolled her eyes as she started to relax her stance to see what could be used for a seat. There wasn't much immediately close by, but down the road where she was going was a nice-looking hill that could work. So, with a touch of curiosity, she made her way over to the spot and got comfortable so that Nix could explain herself.
Once situated she decided to make a little test for Nix by thinking to herself, "Okay, you demonic bitch, explain yourself."
There was a moment of silence before Nix spoke, "Comfortable?"
Again, thinking to herself, "Yes, you little cunt. Tell me what's going on."
Another moment of silence, "Umm... Hello? Aren't you going to say something?"
"Come on you hell spawn whore. I know that you can read my thoughts."
