Authors Note: For those who have not read my bio, please note I write as a form of therapy for a Traumatic Brain Injury. I know the English majors will probably encounter issues that annoy them. If these are your focus, instead of the story itself, then this is not the story for you. I am not and will never be a professional writer.
I do it to tell the story, for those who wish to read them. I originally submitted this story back in mid-2017 to mid-2018. I have worked to try and improve my writing style while struggling with this issue. I have added some editing software and written a few other stories. Now I am revising and editing this earlier work to try and bring it up to a higher standard from what I have managed to learn over the last few years.
Chapter 35
The Challenges of Home
Eldar saw the Duke, his wife, and children waiting for them. He guided the Queen toward the Duke. "Your Majesty, Duke Walder and his wife Elise. She is expecting twins."
Elise looked at Eldar and the Queen looked at Eldar. Then they both smiled at him. She had the red book in her hand and tried to hand it back. The Queen noticed it and blushed a bit. Eldar looked at Elise, "That book was a gift. Even the Queen has a copy. I requested 30 copies of the original which had to be translated from a foreign human language. She has the best scribes in the Kingdom for that kind of work. There are a lot more pages for you to explore."
She smiled and put it away. The Duke looked at him, "To be blunt, the best sex I have had in years."
They heard giggling because he blurted this out in front of Queen Goldeagle and his children. Queen Goldeagle laughed, "He does have that effect on people, he has given that book and another in gray to several nobles in different lands when I have asked him to travel. They all found both books to be enlightening for different reasons."
Rachel held up the gray book. The Queen pointed, "That would be the other book."
The Duke looked to see what his daughter was holding up, "I hope it is not as illustrated as this book!"
Eldar laughed, "No. Hers deals with an order bound in honor to the protection of all of the people in the world."
She nodded and walked over. She showed her father the title page and the first page. He looked at Eldar, "Where did you get this book?"
Eldar looked at him, "It was my mother's. I recovered it recently in the neighboring village. I had more copies created to help inspire my men as to why we are doing the kind of work I outlined."
Duke Walder looked at Eldar, "They operated behind the scenes, not in the open."
Eldar nodded, "Sometimes the best places to hide are in plain sight."
Eldar smiled as he now knew Duke Walder knew of the Knights. It also confirmed to Duke Walder that Eldar was a person of honor. "We take in a lot of people with a little talent and train them to be excellent soldiers for good. No matter where their future lies."
The Duke smiled at his subtle reference, "I am glad to see the good work you are doing. I was thinking my second eldest son, Gabriel, and my daughters should visit you. The Gray Blades might be right up his alley."
Eldar nodded, "We can see what we can mold from the skills he already has. If that is what Gabriel wishes. My officers will evaluate to find out the best placement for him."
Gabriel looked at his father in a bit of shock and his father showed him the book.
Gabriel turned around quickly, "I would love to come and see your operation and be the chaperone for my younger sisters. I know you have an interest in marrying them."
Eldar nodded, "We just need to confirm love and have them both agree. I can send word to the Princess if that occurs while we are away. I have a communication crystal for her. I am destined to only marry sisters. We can arrange transportation via teleport for you and your remaining children if this occurs on the 12th. The Princess might want to join you even. I have over 800 troops guarding the area and it is remote.
I will pass that along to her before I leave." He saw the youngest son, Charles, smile at that statement. "If you are ready to leave, we will be packed and ready to go shortly."
The three rushed off. The Duke looked at Eldar, "Some of your actions make a lot more sense now."
Eldar smiled, "If you say so, Duke Walder."
Duke Walder chuckled. They headed up front and Eldar whispered to the Queen, "Something tells me he is a former Knight, Your Majesty."
She looked at Eldar and whispered, "Because he did not read the book! He knew the story!"
Eldar nodded. "As soon as he showed his son what the book was about, he was eager to come. His father had told him the story."
She nodded. They got up to the Princess. The Queen spoke first and said her goodbyes and waited for Eldar.
Eldar looked at her, "If I contact you to let you know there will be a wedding for Duke Walder's twin daughters on the night of the 12th, would you please contact them immediately so we arrange transportation?
If for some reason you would like to travel with them I have over 800 men guarding my duchy. An hour after a sword ceremony where we will activate 3 more Moon Blades there will be a mass wedding occurring.
What is special is the Goddess, The Lady of Dreams, will be performing the marriages. Once in a lifetime opportunity. Think about it as the Duke, his wife, and his SONS will be going if this occurs, Princess"
Princess Thornlord nodded to him with a bit of a smile, "I will think on this and wait to hear if it will happen."
Eldar smiled, "Until we speak again, Princess. Be well, be happy, be safe, and be the ruler your people need."
She smiled at Eldar as he left. They got to their room and put the few items they needed to pack into their bags. Eldar stepped back into the hall and looked at Fireball, "Use a scroll and take the team back to the village, let my house guests know we are reclaiming all the rooms in our house for the next several days, including the living room. We will have guests."
Fireball nodded, "You going to House Silvertree first?"
Eldar nodded. "Got to get the horses and check on a tree. Maybe pick up a couple more guests."
