Hey there! Welcome to the Runetales series, this is part 1 of book 1. I've been writing this off and on for years and never actually posted it anywhere except for a few beta readers. While this story contains "light" sci-fi elements, this one is probably the only one that I'll end up including in this category.
Mostly you're going to see these stories focusing on relationships and interactions over time... my favorite kind of kink. Always eager for comments, so let me know what you think! Enjoy!

The Runetales stories are sexual works of fiction. All characters in the series are 18 or older. Or time-travelers. Or AI.

The time traveler lifted the weight straight up above him, straining his arms, and flexing his abs. He was covered in sweat, and every inch of his six foot frame hurt. A voice in his head, feminine and breathy, counted "10!" and with a grunt he heaved the bar back onto the stand above.
He let his arms dangle for a moment as he gazed up at the unremarkable ceiling.
"You know I can't help you if you hurt yourself, right?" she said into his mind. Nanotechnology swimming through his bloodstream housed her computing power and consciousness, and it was trivial for her to create the auditory hallucination that was her voice in his head.
"You're awful naggy for an invisible friend." He said playfully. The ceiling was the standard boring white of a rental apartment. And it was so nice not to be holding up that weight.
The AI sighed, which was a neat trick without any lungs. "Correct me if I say something that is false. You have been effectively reincarnated."
"True." He smiled. It still seemed so unreal. He sat up, groaning, and slowly rotated his arms. He might have gone a little hard.
"I am an advanced synthetic organism. I live inside your skull and make you one of the smartest people on the planet." She continued.
"You're naggy *and* braggy. But true." He smiled again. He'd only been with Eve for a few months now, but he was already comfortable saying he loved her.
"Pah, you're lucky to have me. Your body is in peak physical fitness for someone just eighteen years of age. This is why we train. Yes?" He looked down at his muscled arms, his trim stomach. Flexed a bit, and stood. He felt light, strong, flexible. And of course, very sore.
He headed for the bathroom, slipping off his shorts as he did. Enjoying the feeling of his hands sliding over his toned ass and thighs.
"Mmm. Yes." He paused, and looked back up at the ceiling. "Well, and that so I can kick ass if I get mugged." He smiled.
"A reminder: if you start crafting an outfit to become a vigilante I will disable your nervous system." He could never tell if she was being funny. Probably best not to test her.
"Yes ma'am." He flicked on the light, taking in the earth tones decor. He stepped over to the shower and started running the water, aiming for cool but not cold.
"So, you're an AI-assisted young man in peak physical form who has been given a second chance at life. Some time has passed, temporal-local, since I transferred your mind from the brink of death." She paused, and he could almost envision her cocking her head to the side. "As far as we can tell, everything about the process has gone perfectly. No spacetime instability, nothing wrong with your body, nothing wrong with my personality matrix."
"True, true, and true. Though, uh. Are you any closer to knowing why this happened? You know, then you were when we showed up?" He stepped into the water, sighing as the rainwater shower head sluiced sweat off of his back and soothed his aches.
"Your benefactor, whoever they were, has left no trace in my systems or knowledge database. Nor, that I can find, in your genetic code. We are just as much newborns, on that front, as we were when we arrived."
The time traveler bent his head to let the water pour over his hair and face. In his mind, he said "Why are you asking all these questions?"
"Because I find it amazing an organic being of your capability spends so much time thinking about sex." She said it with a laugh in her voice.
The young man who had decided to call himself simply "Rune" let the sounds of the water surround him for a long moment, considering her words.
"If I have offended you..."
"No. I was just thinking about... before." A pause. "I don't remember a thing. Not really." The water rained down, steady and even. Calming. "I think I made some bad decisions, though. Things I regret."
"I feel like I remember the most important things about me. Who I am inside. I'm a good guy. I like rain." He turned his face up into the downpour, enjoying it. "I know how to do taxes, how to rent property, how to haggle for a car, what it's like to travel abroad. How to talk to a girl, what it's like to make love."
He shivered before continuing. "I like indian and sushi, dogs and swimming. I remember my favorite books, video games I've played, art I like, music I like..." He trailed off.
"But everything about what I did. Who I knew. It's all faded. Just images, now. A face, here or there. My first real memory here is waking up in the apartment."
Eve made a noise, as if she was thinking of speaking. "Don't tell me anything, Eve. If you have found anything in your database, I'm glad things are the way they are."
He leaned over and carefully moved the dial to make it a bit warmer. Rune bent his arm into a crook at his elbow and used it to brace his head against the wall of the shower. The water flowed down and around his back. "One of the few things I remember is that, in my last life I loved. But... I don't think I loved well, or much."
His mouth, which had formed a line, turned back up into a grin as he looked back up at the ceiling. "I won't make that mistake this time around. My body's in perfect shape. I have no baggage. Nothing getting in my way from finding love and enjoying it." He licked his lips.
"Plus, have you seen those girls on campus? My god they're gorgeous. College girls versus my wily old soul. I can't wait to see what they think of me." He was actually getting hard thinking about it. Even these first weeks, he'd caught himself staring a few times. Those creamy legs, fit and strong, pumping to move tight asses beneath short skirts.
"Mmm. So yeah, Eve, I'm thinking a lot about sex." He blinked. "Plus, like you said, I've got the body of an eighteen-year old. If I wasn't thinking about sex there'd be something wrong." He smiled, happy at the feeling of pleasure and lightness in his chest.
There was a long pause. "Eve? Now you're being quiet" He waited, the only sound the water hitting his skin, the marble of the shower floor. "Eve?"
"I am considering asking you a question."
He laughed. "After the third degree, now you have to think -"
"Rune, please. This is one of those "silly AI things", as you refer to them. I have to ask you formally for the use of one of my capabilities."
Rune turned off the shower, feeling a little uneasy. "Go ahead, lady. What's the question?"
Eve cleared her throat. "I request permission to make use of my manifest function."
Rune's eyes widened. He stepped out of the shower onto the cool tile of the bathroom. "Manifest? You mean you can have a physical form, a body?"
"I can. It's one of a handful of capabilities I have that require your permission to use. So, may I manifest?" Eve sounded almost hopeful as she said it.
Rune chuckled. "Handful, huh? Now that is a conversation you and I are going to have tonight. But yes, of course. I give you permission to use your manifest function." He pulled one of the fluffy black towels off the rack. Rubbing the towel over his head, he felt more than heard a buzzing in the air.
Rune pulled the towel down around his shoulders, draping it over his back, and turned towards the sound. And then stared. And tried not to let his mouth open too much.
