Chapter 3b -- Emma
Emma finally gets her turn.
Thursday, 27th August 2020
Chloe felt comfortable in a way she'd not felt comfortable before. Waking up on her side, she was lying next to Ruairi, one of her legs over one of his as he lay on his back, both of them naked. The smell of him was heady as her nose was pressed against his chest. Not only that, but another naked body was spooning her from behind; Rebecca.
She could happily stay there, but her body was making demands that she could not ignore. Glancing at Ruairi's old clock radio, she could see that it was early, the clock showing 5:27 in its muted blue LCD digits. Why would anyone still use one of those when they have a phone, she wondered. But then she also wondered where her phone was, and whether it still had any charge. Maybe there was something in its favour, after all.
Mentally groaning, she gently eased herself down the bed and under the bottom of the duvet. Looking back at Ruairi, she knew she'd made the right choice, although there was a small voice at the back of her mind wondering whether every woman would feel like that after partnering, possibly as a side effect of the vaccine. Shaking her head, she decided that he had definitely been the right choice for her.
The sun had yet to rise and the curtains were still closed, but the muted glow from the display on the clock radio provided just enough light for Chloe to navigate around the bedroom. She looked in vain for her discarded clothes, not knowing where they'd been put. She could, though, see Ruairi's tee shirt hanging over the edge of the hamper and, remembering Rebecca's words from the previous day, retrieved it and slipped it over her head. It was way too large for her, but covered the essentials.
Making her way through into the living area, she found it darker at first. Trying to remember the layout, she turned in the direction she believed the bathroom to be, but caught her foot on something after only taking a couple of steps. Deciding that she needed some light, but not wanting the glare of the room lighting, she tried to remember where her phone could be. After a few moments, she thought she remembered having put it on the coffee table before Ruairi picked her up and took her to the bedroom and ... '
Mmmm
,' her brain got stuck in the memories of what he'd done to her, and would be doing again soon, hopefully.
Shaking herself out of her reverie, Chloe changed direction, navigating to the coffee table without mishap and was able to find her phone where she'd left it. Luckily, it still had a reasonable amount of charge remaining. Opening her phone, she noticed messages from both her mam and Maeve, the latter received within the last half hour. Quickly finding the flashlight function on her phone, she turned it on and used it to survey the room, seeing all the boxes and bags that hadn't been there the day before. Noting that each has a small sheet of paper held on with a strip of tape, she glanced at the nearest one, discovering that it had her name at the top and then a brief description of the contents; in this case, the holdall contained tee shirts and shorts. So these were her own things, or at least some of them.
Her need for the toilet was greater than her curiosity and Chloe quickly resolved that problem. Afterwards, though, she scanned what had been brought without opening any of them until she found a smaller box labelled 'Dressing table and bathroom'. Opening the box, she identified her wash bag and other essentials and returned to the bathroom to brush her teeth, after which she took a welcome shower.
Back in the living area, again wearing Ruairi's tee shirt and with a towel around her head, she curled up in Ruairi's armchair, her knees inside the hem of the tee shirt, to look at the messages on her phone.
Feeling a sense of betrayal, Chloe skipped over the message from her mam and instead opened the more recent one from Maeve, which had been sent at 5:06 that morning. It was a simple message that read '
OMG
,' nothing more, nothing less.
Chloe was feeling awake and somewhat hungry, but decided that girl chat was probably more important than food at that moment. It took her no more than a couple of swipes of her thumb to dial Maeve's number, after which she settled back into the chair. Her call was answered almost instantly.
"
Feck, that seemed so loud this early in the morning. I hope you've not woken up Donal.
"
"And a good morning to you, too," Chloe replied.
"
Yeah, that,
