Judy had trouble relating to her roommate Shawn. He was obnoxious and self-absorbed. Their interests were also on opposite ends of the spectrum. Shawn was enjoyed sports and parties, whereas Judy was more into reading and was fascinated by the occult. She often read books on psychic phenomena and ghosts. When she would tell Shawn about her readings, he would simply roll his eyes and say that they were just books full of brain rot. Judy would respond that the brain probably rots faster from the pounding his head takes in sports.
As much as they annoyed each other, it was hard for Judy to ignore Shawn's attractiveness. Her eyes would trace their way up his muscular legs and admire his firm buttocks from behind. Sometimes, he would walk around the apartment shirtless, giving her a view of his finely sculpted torso. It was hard for her not to fantasize about him in a sexual way, even if his personality left a lot to be desired.
Judy much preferred the company of her best friend, though he was a bit unusual. Her best friend was a ghost by the name of Raziel. She met Raziel through the use of her Ouija Board. When she first met him, she was so excited to feel the planchette in her fingers being guided slowly to different letters and numbers on the board. She asked him all types of questions and wrote down everything in a journal. She learned all about the different realms on the other side and what realm he was from. She learned he had lived as a farmer named Peter in the 1700s and that, after death, he slowly moved up the ranks of the spirits to become a powerful being named Raziel.
Judy would tease Raziel by suggesting he was only bragging to impress her, but then he would demonstrate his power by making objects move or make thumping noises. He could even make the planchette move without Judy touching it. She would tease him purposely just because she loved watching his powers take effect.
Overtime, he started to appear to Judy in her dreams. He was a towering figure, with three sets of long, beautiful red wings. In the dreams, she would touch them, and they seemed like velvet. He wore plate armor over his muscled torso and legs.
Judy was utterly infatuated with her otherworldly suitor. She would sketch him all day in her notebook. She would daydream of him crashing into her college classroom and flying away with her. In her dreams, he would tell her that her crystal blue eyes were hypnotic beneath her glasses. He would tell her that her slender human frame beckoned his embrace and left him with a longing ache when she wasn't near. He told her he wanted to feel his fingers run through her wavy blonde hair.
Judy soon felt a longing of her own, which she could only partially satisfy when she touched herself in bed or in the shower. For when she was done, she still felt a longing to be held by Raziel.
One evening, Judy was using her Ouija board to speak to Raziel when Shawn walked into the apartment.
"Sorry," he said sarcastically, "Didn't know you were busy talking to Razor Blade."
"His name is Raziel," she corrected rather curtly.
Shawn laid down on the couch and turned on the television, the noise of the football game annoying Judy.
As Judy looked down, the planchette began to spell out a phrase by itself. It said, "Prepare for my arrival."
"What do you mean?" Judy asked.
The planchette spelled out "Watch."
Shawn suddenly turned off the television. "Hey," he said, "I think I might need a doctor."
"What's wrong?" Judy asked standing up.
"I don't know," Shawn said, "I just feel all tingly."
All at once Shawn's whole body spasmed and twitched violently.
Judy gasped and stepped back as he went to the ground.
