Welcome again! Next chapter of my story. I am aware that the gaps between parts are quite long. I write as much as time allows, and I would like to publish more often. To remind you of what was happening in the last chapter, I added a small reminder. Below is a reminder of the skills, and then there is the chapter.

I hope you enjoy this chapter.

Huge thanks to Netrepid for editing.

--- Reminder ---

Ava Black, the twin sister of Thomas, competes with him for the title of the best mage at the Academy. She just ended her talk with support's tutor, Rachel, during which she suddenly felt unwell. Despite this, moments later, she and Asher agreed to explore the dungeon together on Saturday. Ava returned to her room, while at the same time, Asher, horny after his talk with Rachel, sought out his girlfriend Elara, who was supposed to go with their new friend Madelyn to the library.

--- Ava Black ---

Why was I so tired?

That question popped into Ava's head. She was leaning against the door of her bathroom after she returned from her talk with Mrs. Shaw - the support's tutor at the Academy. The fire mage wanted to find out more about supports and who would be the best choice for her team. The talk didn't go as she planned. However, she found an answer to her question.

Asher. He was the best choice for Ava. The teacher suggested that he could help Ava achieve her dreams. But she couldn't stop wondering: Why him?

She slowly took off her clothes and walked into the shower. She hoped that it would help her rouse herself. Ava took a deep breath and turned the tap. Freezing water poured over her body, and her first instinct was to jump out of the shower cabin, but she clenched her fists and waited until she became accustomed to the cold water.

Ava tried to slow down her breathing, but it was hard when numbing water cascaded over her body. She counted sixty breaths and increased the temperature.

She adjusted the water slightly warmer, which allowed her to focus on something other than the cold penetrating her skin and shocking her nerves.

That thermal shock dispersed the mental fog from her mind. Even during the walk to her room, Ava was feeling better, but now she felt almost normal.

Even this fatigue vanished suddenly.

Ava was relaxing under the water, but at some point she realized that she felt better. She wasn't tired anymore. She analyzed everything that happened from the moment when Asher and Mrs. Shaw entered the corridor.

Ava learned that something was special about Asher, and he is the best possible teammate for her. She decided to find out more about him. As quickly as possible, before anyone else discovers it.

She was glad that she agreed with Asher to explore on Saturday, or at least get to know that Elara and her boyfriend are interested, but she has to talk with the assassin first. That was interesting to her. Just as Asher's question if the ranger and tank that she was set up with were women.

However, something else didn't give her peace of mind. The strange behavior of Mrs. Shaw. And how suddenly Ava felt bad during their talk. And how suddenly she felt normal again.

She turned off the water, and her whole body tensed. Only one reason came to her mind.

Mrs. Shaw used some skill on Ava.

--- Rachel Shaw ---

The door of Rachel's room closed. She just finished the talk with Ava Black. The teacher was staring at the door and wondering if she had gotten carried away. She used one of her skills on a student. She shouldn't do it, but she knew people like Ava. They were using everyone for their own benefit. To become better than her brother, Ava will not hesitate to take advantage of Asher.

Asher. Rachel had never heard about a class like his. Class that was connected to sex. Powerful class, which could be dangerous for him.

Someone might want to take advantage of him. He might be hurt. Asher can make anyone a better explorer. When people learn about that, they will want to use him to become better, and then they will abandon him.

They would play with his emotions, pretend that they care about him, and then break his heart, take advantage of him, and in the end get rid of him as useless trash.

The same way they did with her.

Rachel slammed her fist on the table. Her whole hand ached, but at this moment, she didn't care. She had only one thought in her head. She will not allow anyone to hurt Asher, just as they did to her.

--- Elara River ---

Asher pecked Elara on the lips and went after Rachel. They used the exit for the teachers.

"Umm..." Elara heard behind her and turned to look at Madelyn, who seemed hesitant.

"Do you want to go to the library together?" Madelyn asked shyly.

It crossed Elara's mind that Asher just left, so perhaps it wasn't only about him because Madelyn wanted to spend time with her too.

"Sure. Do you know where it is?" Elara asked, even if she was sure that the girl knew.

"Yeah, I will take you there. I can show you around and point out books worth reading," the support girl offered and perked up instantly.

Elara smiled back. Madelyn's spirit was contagious. The support girl led them through the corridors of the Academy.

They walked in silence, and Elara looked closer at her guide. Madelyn was short, and it was hard to tell anything more about her body because of her clothes, which effectively hid her body. But her face was adorable; her crystal blue eyes, light skin, and long, light blond hair made her look really cute and innocent.

Elara didn't spend a lot of time with her, but she had the impression that Madelyn was nice. She stuck to Asher for the whole day, but maybe she wasn't attracted to him. Maybe she just wanted to find new friends.

That would explain why she wanted to spend time with Elara now, when Asher wasn't close anymore. But Elara knew that Madelyn was from here, she lived in that city her whole life, and she knew people from the Academy. Elara was curious why Madelyn was not spending time with them.

When Elara met her, she was accompanied by Zoe and Sam, but if she understood correctly, both of the girls joined Madelyn and Asher.

Could she have wanted something more from Asher? Elara's intuition told her that Madelyn didn't want to seduce Asher, so she shouldn't worry about that. But Elara was still pondering if she should talk about this with the support girl or whether to get to know her better.

It would be helpful if Asher had a friend in his class group. If Madelyn didn't want to take Asher away from Elara, then she would be a good person for that. Elara decided to find out Madelyn's motivations, but she wasn't sure how to do it without being too obvious. Now, it was a good moment because Asher wasn't with them.

Madelyn led them to a spacious room. Elara noticed rows after rows of bookcases. Between them were tables, but also armchairs that looked perfect to sink into them and lose yourself in reading.

"We're here," Madelyn announced, turning towards Elara. The assassin noticed happy sparks in the support girl's eyes. "Is there something you want to check out first? There are so many books here, many of them exciting. There's even a whole section dedicated to the assassins. I can show you," Madelyn offered, and she didn't give Elara time to answer. She rushed further into the library.

Elara caught up to her after a few quick steps. "Maddy, wait," she said, grabbing her by the hand. Madelyn jerked up and snatched her hand away, she turned around abruptly and took a step back. She held her hand to her chest. Elara, for a brief moment, could notice fear and panic on her face, but Madelyn quickly relaxed and smiled lightly, clearly embarrassed.

"Sorry, you surprised me. You want to see something else first?"

"I want to talk first," Elara declared, looking around. There weren't a lot of people in the library, only a few wandered around. Elara noticed a few tables set up further from the entrance, where she didn't see anyone and thought it would be a good place to talk in privacy. "Let's sit and talk."

"Okay," Madelyn answered hesitantly.

Both of them moved between bookshelves full of books, Elara was never a big fan of reading, so she wasn't interested in them. But she considered that maybe it was time to change that, especially when they could provide her with knowledge about dungeons. On the other hand, the idea of spending hours reading one book didn't sound so enticing to her.

Elara sat in front of Madelyn. Should she ask straight forward about her intentions towards Asher?

Madelyn shifted in her chair, and Elara had the impression that she was nervous. "Umm... what do you want to talk about?" she asked.

"About Asher..." Elara started.

"Oh, you don't have to worry at all. It's- it's not like that." Madelyn looked down at her hands, which she twisted nervously on her lap.

Elara realized that Madelyn seemed aware of how it looked after she spent the whole day around Asher. She was tempted to just ask what this was all about. Why was Madelyn behaving this way?

"Really, I... I'm not interested in relationships. I want to focus on exploring," Maddelyn added after a moment.

"Okay. So, why did you cling to him so much today? He told me that you didn't leave him for even a moment." Elara decided that being straightforward might be the best approach, but after her question, she realized it might sound too harsh.

Madelyn's eyes opened wide. "Oh, he was uncomfortable with that? I'm sorry, I thought-"

"No, no, he wasn't complaining," Elara interrupted her. "I think he likes you." She wasn't sure about it; he didn't say anything like this, but Madelyn helped him, and that was probably enough for Asher to consider her as a friend.

Madelyn smiled lightly but then sighed. "I always preferred to spend time with guys, they are just... I don't know. I just feel more comfortable around them. But then..." she paused. Biting her lip, she was thinking about something intensively.

Her arms visibly slumped. "I don't want these guys trying to date me. Or try to pull me into a bed." Madelyn shuddered. Elara could clearly see that the girl wasn't telling her everything and that something had happened in the past, but she didn't want to push her to talk.

"Yesterday, when I noticed you in the main room, you were standing by the wall and kissing. I saw how he looks at you and how much he loves you," Madelyn smiled lightly. "I thought that he wouldn't try anything with me when he has you," she explained.

Elara nodded. She spent most of her time with Asher, so she practically spent most of her time in male companionship too. If Madelyn was telling the truth, then she had chosen Asher specifically to become friends because she didn't want it to be something more than friendship. She wasn't interested in him romantically and just wanted to find a friend.

Elara realized that Madelyn didn't want to take Asher from her, and Madelyn felt safe around him. She wasn't going to stop it. If Asher would want to become friends with her, Elara didn't have a problem with that.

"When I saw him this morning in a support group, he was looking at you through the square. I thought that we could become friends and spend time together because he wouldn't try anything more with me," Madelyn said and bit her lower lip, thinking for a moment, until she sighed. "I don't know, it's just... I feel comfortable around him," she added, shrugging.

Elara believed in what Madelyn was telling her, she had only doubts because she sensed that the support girl was hiding something, but perhaps that wasn't connected to this situation and was not important in all of this.

"Umm... If it makes you uncomfortable and you don't want me to be friends with him, then it's fine. Just tell me, and I will leave him alone," Madelyn offered, but clearly she wasn't happy about this idea. She knew him for just one day and already liked him that much. That she cared about this friendship?

Elara didn't have time to think about it because Madelyn spoke again. "When I hang around with him, there are also less chances that someone else would hit on me, and as I said, I want to focus on exploring, not on relationships. So it's helpful too."

"But as I said, if you want, I will stop talking with him at all." Madelyn opened her mouth to speak further, but Elara caught her hands, which she was holding on the table, to stop her.

This time she didn't flinch or pull her hands away, as she had moments before.

Madleyn stopped talking and looked at Elara. "Oh, I'm babbling. Sorry."

Elara smiled. "It's okay. I believe you. If Asher wants to be friends with you, then I don't have a problem with that."

Madelyn's body visibly relaxed, and she nodded vigorously. "Of course, thank you."

"I know what you mean with guys - how they don't understand what you tell them. Use Asher as your shield whenever you need him."

"Thank you, that really means a lot to me," Madelyn answered. They were still holding each other's hands. Elara realized that Madelyn would get to know Asher better, and it wouldn't be long before she would discover more about his class.

"I want to talk about something else too," Elara started, wanting to bring up this subject.

"About what?" Madelyn asked, looking more relaxed now.

Elara chuckled, when she realized that they wouldn't change the topic very much. "Again about Asher, but this time about... his class." Elara looked to the side, thinking how to explain all of this without telling Madelyn more than Asher was comfortable with.

"It looks like you are going to spend time with Asher, also during classes, so you'll probably notice that... something is weird about it."

Madelyn frowned and bit her lip thoughtfully. "It's something more than just him getting a support class he didn't want."

Elara nodded slowly. "His class is very... strange. And it's not suited for the Academy and rankings. With it he can create a really strong team. It's very good at exploring dungeons, but not to show well individually at the Academy."

"This is how it always is with supports. We don't work individually, we always support our team," Madelyn said. Elara had the impression that the girl didn't understand, which was probably hard when you didn't know all the details.

Elara sighed, doubting if it was a good idea to explain this. "Yes, but with him, it's different. We agreed not to share details about his class openly, so I can't tell you much. But I want to ask you for something."

"What is it?" Madelyn bit her lip. She always did that when she was thinking about something.

"Sooner or later, you will learn more about his class. I want you to keep it all to yourself. Don't tell anyone about his class, okay?"

"Fine, I don't... I won't tell anyone."

Elara nodded, glad that she had this done, there was one more thing she wanted to ask. "Okay, you can probably tell that Asher doesn't feel... comfortable with his class. I heard that you already helped him during your classes?"

Madelyn flushed a little. "Oh, it's nothing."

"Could you... pay attention to him? If he feels uncomfortable, even if you don't want to help him, could you let me know about it?"

Madelyn looked at her and bit her lip, lost deep in her thoughts.

"Sure, I don't quite understand, but I can do this."

Elara smiled and squeezed Madelyn's hands. "Thank you, that really means a lot to me."

Madelyn smiled back. "It's amazing how you both love each other."

Elara loved Asher with all her heart, she would do anything for him. She was just about to prove it. She agreed that Asher can have sex with other women, knowing that he would create romantic relationships with them. She doubted that he could just sleep with them and explore dungeons and, at the same time, not get attached to those women.

Elara suspected that he wasn't even aware of that, but she knew that it would happen. Perhaps he would not fall in love with them, but he's going to care about them. He was just like that, Elara couldn't imagine that he could treat those women as quick sex. That he would just fuck them and not care about them at all.

"Is there something else that you want to talk about?" Madelyn asked.

Elara realized that they were sitting in front of each other, holding their hands, without speaking, when she got lost in her thoughts. She smiled. "No, thanks for the talk. Do you still want to show me those books that you mentioned?"

"For assassins? Or those about low level dungeons? About bosses? Monsters?" Madelyn started listing excitedly, when she could speak about books that she clearly loved.

Elara chuckled. "Maybe start with something about monsters."

"Oh, I have something with me," Madelyn answered, pulling her bag onto the table.

Madelyn put her hand in it and took out a small lighting ball that caught Elara's attention. It looked like a table tennis ball that glowed with bright white light from the inside over the entire surface.

Madelyn put it on the table in front of Elara, and it started to grow until it was in the shape of a book. Then the light dimmed, and it was a book. Elara read the title.

Low level monsters. Beginner guide.

Below the title was the image of a monster that looked similar to a big wolf. Below it were numbers: one, two, and three. She assumed they were levels of the monsters that were described in this book. But that wasn't what interested her right now. She wanted to know how this book showed up here from this light ball.

"What was that?" she asked, looking from the book to the bag.

"Hmm? What?" Madelyn asked, grabbing the book and looking through the pages.

"How did this glowing ball transform into the book?"

Madelyn looked surprised at Elara.

"You want to tell me that you never heard about exploring bags?"

"I heard, but I had never seen one before. And I wasn't interested in how they work," Elara answered. "So this is the exploring bag?" Elara had read about them on the internet. Explorers took them to a dungeon and held their items in them.

Logically, she knew that it must be able to store more items than it was physically possible. But she had never thought about how they work. She assumed she would find one when she arrived at the Academy and then learn how to use it. But she realized that now she had an opportunity to learn it.

"Yeah," Madelyn answered. She grabbed the bag and pushed it toward Elara. "It was cheap, but it has some space, so it's not bad."

Elara grabbed the bag and weighed it in her hands, it didn't seem to weigh anything more than just an ordinary bag. She opened it and looked inside, she thought that she would find more of these glowing balls, but it was empty. And Elara knew that Madelyn had her daggers in it, so she was surprised.

"It's empty," she stated, looking at Madelyn.

The girl giggled. "It comes from the dungeon. It works by magic, it's connected to me. I can focus on it in a similar way you focus on your class, and then I can see its status - all of the items that are inside. You can take something out by focusing on it. Then this lighting orb shows up, and when you take it out, it turns back into the item," Madelyn explained.
