The return to Mother Earth.
PROLOGUE
It is three thousand years into the future. The earth is barren and almost empty. So we were told.
The wars of the early part of the 22nd century destroyed more than seventy-five per cent of the world's population. In a matter of 5 years, the earth's population fell from seven billion people to less than ten million people. Some nationalities were lost forever. Slowly the population was dying out. This miracle that was humanity made from star dust, was coming to an end.
If not for the immense talent of the Australian Astrophysicist, Professor Adam Eveson, humanity would have ended. When all seemed lost to the world, he found an answer, he found a way to live in space, to produce a living environment equal to that of the planet Earth. He showed the scientific world how to create gravity and an atmosphere in a vacuum, out of nothing or so it seemed. When he disappeared, the Australians blamed the Chinese, who in turn blamed the Americans, who then blamed the Russians who in turn blamed everyone for blaming them.
What was meant to be the planet's salvation was about to be lost.
In keeping with the missing Professor's wishes, in case of his death or his sudden disappearance his work with all its details, charts, drawings and step-by-step guide to produce a living, working environment in space, was freely shared with the whole world, every country, every University, every government agency had the same information.
Simultaneously.
Some nations built their own stations, and other countries grouped together and built a joint station. It was a total separation of humanity. Each went their own way.

Chapter 1 - The Royal Family, The Parliament, and The Republic's System of Government.
The Republic is the largest living platform orbiting the old Mother Earth. It is a vessel that is a hundred miles long forty miles wide, and only 3 miles in depth. A giant rectangular orbiting space station. The workers or labourers are known as or referred to as Unionists, it is an unkind term for manual labourers who were building the platform continuously. The working area is open to space and the interior is protected by two walls. The first one is a solid airlock protecting the Oneprecenters from the labourers and the harsh elements of space. It was called the Borderline for some far-off lost reason that no one could remember. In the timelessness of living in the Republic, it was always best not to ask too many questions about the past.
