The great-axe struck the leaping goblin in the ribs. The monster squealed, and blood splattered onto the my black fur. The now lifeless body of the goblin was suspended in the air, only doing so due to the head of the weapon embedded in the goblin. I could feel the weight of the corpse connected to my great-axe. But due to my impressive muscles, the creature barely weighed anything whilst attached to my weapon. With a grunt, I jerked my great-axe to my side to throw the corpse off the weapon, and I saw the body crash onto the field.

Before I could get my bearings, a screech came to my left, I turned. Another goblin leapt toward me, a dagger flashed in it's hand. I caught the goblin by the throat whilst it travelled midair. I then squeezed, adding enough pressure to choke the creature. It dropped its dagger, and I studied the goblin in my grasp. It was a short creature, with a protruding belly. Its skin coloured a sickly green and wore dirty rags to hide its modesty. It had pointed crudely shaped ears, not as long as elves, nor as majestic. Lastly, what I noticed, was the goblins eyes a horrible mixture of yellow and black, which were now rolling into the back of it's head, reacting to the tight grip on it's neck. It gasped and choked as it tried helplessly to free the grasp of it's adversary with it's small hands from their throat. It made no difference, a goblin could not overpower a wolvir like me.

Without further delay, I threw the creature to the ground, and placed my foot on the goblins chest, with enough force to keep it trapped beneath me. I then hefted my great-axe above my head, and struck down-words to the goblins skull. A geyser of blood spouted out of the goblins head, further dirtying my beautiful black coat fur.

With the battle concluded, I took note of my surroundings. I was in a clearing that was surrounded by trees. A small campfire smouldered that the goblins had crafted in the epicentre of the clearing. Around the campfire were two more dead goblins that I had killed earlier, and it was swiftly done before the other two goblins had time to react. The bodies showed fatal wounds caused by my great-axe. Scanning the area around, I listened intently to hear any other threat that may be near. I also gave a sniff to see if I could catch the scent of anything else. Save the chirping of birds and a lone squirrel that skirted away beyond to the trees, I was no alone. I relaxed and took my foot away from the goblin corpse underneath.

I examined myself and was satisfied that I had sustained no injuries during the fight. Only the goblin blood that had caked my fur, which i found disgusting. I then brandished a hunting knife from a scabbard attached to my waist. I began to slice off all the ears from the goblins, cutting easily through the flesh with my sharp blade. Once all collected, I wrapped them in a linen cloth and placed them in a satchel that hung from my shoulder.

The contract was completed. Four goblins slain, and their ears collected as proof, and as trophies for the adventurers guild. But before I could return to the town, I wished to be rid of the blood and viscera that was upon me. I knew of a waterfall that was only a mile away from here, and decided that would be my first stop before handing these trophies in. So, with great-axe in hand and my spoils, I made way to a beaten path from the clearing, into the woods and towards his next goal of taking a well deserved bathing.

"I cannot believe that those stinking goblins got so much blood on me" I growled. "I am Fenrin, son of Farex. Pack of the greatest warriors of the Wolvir kingdom. Here I am, reduced to taking on contracts for the adventurer's guild to prove my worth."

I hiked through the woods, stepping over tree roots and through foliage to find the waterfall. I needed to bathe, and get this blood washed from myself as soon as possible.

Not long, I thought. Through this forest, a short walk along a hillside and soon I'll be at the waterfall.

"Once this year is up, and I return home. Father will see. He'll see how great of a warrior I am, and accept me into the ranks of the king's elite."

Father believed me to be too naive and eager for battle to join the elite warriors. Even though I bested all companions in my training, and even one of the instructors. Still, father denied me to join as a warrior. He said I needed to know more of the world, gain experience, start with low risk adventures. I needed to work my way through the adventurer's guild ranks to platinum status that boasted greater threats with contracts. If I could elevate myself to those heights, perhaps he would see how worthy I am to join the elite warriors.

Does he see me too weak to be apart of the elites? Does he believe I would die so easily in our kingdoms wars?

A year, I told my father before I left. One year it will take me to gain platinum status. Currently I am iron status. But with continued work, and determination I will achieve bronze before the month is gone.

The stench of goblin blood continued to violate my nostrils as I made it through the forest. Why must goblins stink so much? I am no stranger to blood, or its smell. I can find it intoxicating from other creatures. But goblin blood is the foulest I have had the misfortune to come across.

Not many wolvir have joined the adventurer's guild. So my presence came as a shock to many there. In appearance I resemble a common variety wolf but with key differences. I am humanoid in nature, standing at 6ft and 5inches, with short jet black fur across my body. A noticeable difference between wolvir and wolves, are the snout and hands. A wolvir snout is much shorter in length, over an inch more than a human males mouth and jaw. We still have sharp and strong fangs. And our hands, resemble human hands, not paws like wolves. We have fingers and opposable thumbs, yet still have razor-like claws that that can slightly retract to mimic human finger nails.

Passing along the hillside, in the distance I could hear the crashing of water. The waterfall was close. Last I'd been there was a week ago. I helped guide a merchant and his wagon to town for a fee, and passed by the waterfall. It was an exquisite site. The light of the sun hit the water just right that it shimmered and glistened vibrantly. The water fall itself was large enough to be submerged if you stood beneath it. The waters pooled into a small lake that could accommodate a handful of people. It looked like the baths in town but with a picturesque view of the outside scenery. Surrounding it was smooth boulders that one could lie upon to soak up the warmth of the sun after a refreshing dip.

I anticipated the relaxing waters to wash the blood and muck. Sitting on the sides with myself half submerged and to feel the sun on my face. I couldn't wait.

I came to the end of my journey and needed to walk around the bend to see the glorious view of the waterfall. But as I did come to the waterfall. Another glorious view was there. In the middle of the lake, stood a figure, half naked in pale pink underwear.

A human woman.
