The great-axe struck the leaping goblin in the ribs. The monster squealed, and blood splattered onto the my black fur. The now lifeless body of the goblin was suspended in the air, only doing so due to the head of the weapon embedded in the goblin. I could feel the weight of the corpse connected to my great-axe. But due to my impressive muscles, the creature barely weighed anything whilst attached to my weapon. With a grunt, I jerked my great-axe to my side to throw the corpse off the weapon, and I saw the body crash onto the field.
Before I could get my bearings, a screech came to my left, I turned. Another goblin leapt toward me, a dagger flashed in it's hand. I caught the goblin by the throat whilst it travelled midair. I then squeezed, adding enough pressure to choke the creature. It dropped its dagger, and I studied the goblin in my grasp. It was a short creature, with a protruding belly. Its skin coloured a sickly green and wore dirty rags to hide its modesty. It had pointed crudely shaped ears, not as long as elves, nor as majestic. Lastly, what I noticed, was the goblins eyes a horrible mixture of yellow and black, which were now rolling into the back of it's head, reacting to the tight grip on it's neck. It gasped and choked as it tried helplessly to free the grasp of it's adversary with it's small hands from their throat. It made no difference, a goblin could not overpower a wolvir like me.
Without further delay, I threw the creature to the ground, and placed my foot on the goblins chest, with enough force to keep it trapped beneath me. I then hefted my great-axe above my head, and struck down-words to the goblins skull. A geyser of blood spouted out of the goblins head, further dirtying my beautiful black coat fur.
With the battle concluded, I took note of my surroundings. I was in a clearing that was surrounded by trees. A small campfire smouldered that the goblins had crafted in the epicentre of the clearing. Around the campfire were two more dead goblins that I had killed earlier, and it was swiftly done before the other two goblins had time to react. The bodies showed fatal wounds caused by my great-axe. Scanning the area around, I listened intently to hear any other threat that may be near. I also gave a sniff to see if I could catch the scent of anything else. Save the chirping of birds and a lone squirrel that skirted away beyond to the trees, I was no alone. I relaxed and took my foot away from the goblin corpse underneath.
I examined myself and was satisfied that I had sustained no injuries during the fight. Only the goblin blood that had caked my fur, which i found disgusting. I then brandished a hunting knife from a scabbard attached to my waist. I began to slice off all the ears from the goblins, cutting easily through the flesh with my sharp blade. Once all collected, I wrapped them in a linen cloth and placed them in a satchel that hung from my shoulder.
The contract was completed. Four goblins slain, and their ears collected as proof, and as trophies for the adventurers guild. But before I could return to the town, I wished to be rid of the blood and viscera that was upon me. I knew of a waterfall that was only a mile away from here, and decided that would be my first stop before handing these trophies in. So, with great-axe in hand and my spoils, I made way to a beaten path from the clearing, into the woods and towards his next goal of taking a well deserved bathing.
