"But I don't want to go.." Torie begged her Mother for all she was worth. Raven broke down crying softly for her child. She knelt down and hugged her four year old to her breast, it had been Luna's will for she and her Mate's to conceive children and it had been humans who had taken the lives of two of them away when the humans bombed the packs housing that had been the day care center. Too young to have gained any abilities, too young to even defend themselves.
Now the Were's and Vampire communities were known to the World and a full scale war had broken out. The Vampires and Were's fighting for their very survival against the Humans. Many of the Children are being placed with communities well hidden and away from Humans while their parents fight for their right to live.
"We don't want you to go either baby, but your Mommies and I have to fight so you can live free someday. We will come see you as soon as we can, okay?" Raven said quietly and calmed her child down. She handed Torie over to the old Alpha couple, Raven's parents. They had retired years ago, her Mother still despondent over the loss of so many children in one senseless explosion.
"We will take care of her, don't you worry, just keep the rest of them safe so we can bring the children back." Storm told his Daughter and gave her a firm hug. Many couples stood and watched mournfully as their children were driven away. No one knew where, only the old Alpha couple knew the location.
"Now what?" Josh asked, Raven's brother and first Beta.
"Now we use guerilla tactics and we do not stay in one spot just waiting for the next attack. We stay mobile and on the move, striking when they least expect it." Raven stated, her eyes flashing in anger and pain at having to send her child away.
"I plan to see her next birthday, so we will have this War finished by then." she said growling angrily. The others growled in agreement. Twenty minutes later and they were packed with only with what could fit into a backpack and weapons that could be carried easily.
Two weeks later -
"Hello?" a voice asked on the burner phone. Raven recognized the voice instantly.
"Hi, Candice, this is Raven, just calling to make sure everything is okay." Raven said on the prepaid phone that would be tossed later.
"Fine here, so when are your parents and the kids coming we have everything set up." Candice asked causing Raven to freeze up for a moment.
"They left two weeks ago by bus." Raven whispered and heard Candice gasp softly.
"There was a story over a week ago about a militant group being destroyed on the Highway by a Military check point. They showed a picture of an old grey hound bus, burning on the highway." Candice explained slowly and Raven could hear the dread in her voice.
"Could you tell what color?" Raven asked slowly.
"White with Blue pin striping. I didn't think about you guys because the plates were from Oregon." Candice said and Raven dropped the phone. Jas had heard much of it and picked up the phone.
"Sorry Candice, and yes that was our bus. Stay hidden, stay safe." Jas said quickly and smashed the phone. Raven wailed as her parents and child were confirmed dead, she had thought something had felt off in the bond, but over such a long distance even mates would have trouble feeling each other. The news set off a new round of tactics that made the news around the world as military bases were destroyed.
"My name is Raven Greywolf, Alpha to the Greywolf pack. The Were's and Vampires have lived among the humans for as long as there have been humans on the planet and yet we have grown and evolved just as you humans have. We do not force anyone to change to become one of us, the fact is a human can not be changed into a Were by bite or scratch unless it is by their own mate, and even so only if they agree to being changed. We have strict rules about trying to change anyone by force, and the penalty of doing it is death." Raven explained to a camera that was focused on her. Looking around she saw the station personal continue to work the equipment while her pack watched over them.
"We never wanted a war, but the moment you found out about us you do what you always do. Destroy what you fear, destroy what you do not understand and kill out of petty jealousy and make up things to justify your actions. After the War started you bombed our community and in that raid, you bombed our day care center. Twenty seven children died along with six adults and several teens. That Bomb took two of my three own children. In order to keep them safe we shipped off our remaining children to safety, only to find out that at a road block set up by the Military you went and destroyed a bus load of children and my last remaining child, along with several retired elderly couples, most of whom were barely even able to shift much less fight and yet you felt good in eradicating the threat of Were's and Vampires. Helpless children and elderly, I wonder how would you feel if it had been your children, your elderly that had been on that bus." Raven stated as the tears flowed freely.
"Remember one thing people, We did not start this War, we did not target your children or your elderly. You dare to call us savages or animals, who is the true animal here?" Raven asked and stood up.
"What will you do?" the woman sitting behind the desk asked. Raven stopped and looked back at her.
"Give you the War you wanted, I hope it is everything you dreamed of." Raven stated then turned and walked out with her pack even as the Police and Military arrived several minutes after they left. The News anchors tried to question the Military about the bus only for the question to be ignored.
"Did she say anything else?" the Captain was demanding.
"No, but I will tell you one thing." the reported stated.
