A crumbled sky glared down at the world, it's red eyes marking the end of another day. Sean perched upon an outcrop of building, ten stories up in the air watching the world below. A lone golden topped angel, he sat stiff waiting for something to interest him. At 6' even and weighing 215 of pure muscle he looked like a buff statue. Anyone watching closely would've seen his eyes scanning the people specks of humans really, he could see a couple making out on a bench across the street, a middle aged man running with his mutt just beneath him, and some very drunk women getting out of a car.
Scratch that one of them was sober, the driver thank god, an athletic build covered in leggings, a long baseball tee, and beaten up sneakers, her mocha brown hair was curly and loose around her. Keys in hand she marched around to the passenger side of her car and started lecturing the three giggling girls in the back seat.
"Seriously? It's only 10, how can you be this smashed already?!! There's something called moderation, ever heard of it?" Hands on her hips she invoked the stance of a mother hen, and while he completely agreed with her Sean was quite happy, now he'd get to have a snack before heading home.
"Natalie! When did you get here?" An under dressed blond practically fell out of the car while gushing up at the brunette.
"I picked you up from the club dumb ass."
"Oh! Honey you should've come with! There were some hottie's out tonight!
"God you're going to give me a head ache. Let's get you inside and sober you up."
At this Sean perked up, "sober up" no we can't have that. He stealthily moved a few floors down using body movements that resembled parkour. He had to get close enough to influence their minds.
A red headed girl, barely drunk, scampered up the steps of the apartment building yelling back, "I'm grabbing clothes and a beer. Do you want some?"
"No!" Huffed back Natalie, anyone watching could tell her patience were running thin.
"Yes! Ignore her!" The blond was sitting on the curb with one foot in the car still, the silhouette of the last girl could be seen faintly through the tinted windows of the little Honda Civic. She was bent over slightly fiddling with something on her lap.
Sean had hopped down the last few levels and was now moving up the back set of steps to the door the red head had disappeared through. Like a whisper he floated into the apartment searching for the girl he could hear banging around down a hall to his left. She emerged from one room only to take a sharp turn into the next, a bystander would've seen Sean melt into the shadows. The black mass now shifted around the door frame to watch the girl.
His gaze was met with her side profile, she was bent over an open dresser drawer shuffling through clothes, it was now or never. Forming his body he stepped out of the sliver of shadow that had been on the wall.
"Hey Kam will you run into my closet and grab my blue zip up hoodie?" She was throwing yoga pants and sweats on to the floor frantically.
Sean had a smirk on his face as he reversed his step, making his way to the closet in the next room. The room smelt of fruit, pears, strawberries, and sweet pea ,he loved it. Spotting a bright blue hoodie he slid it off the hanger, presenting the clothing on the tips of his fingers he watched her face. Horror and confusion froze her face, it was ridiculously brief as her temper took hold. Before a smart ass remark had the time to form on her lips, Sean had waved his hand freezing her body the only movement from her were her eyes and her lungs.
Sean strode forward, calm and confident. Brushing a long stand of hair out of her face he looked at her, really looked at for the first time. Her tresses hung clear down her back, a few freckles spotted her nose, what caught Sean's attention was her two green eyes spotted with brown and yellow. He knew at that moment that he would be staring into those eyes for the rest of eternity.
Taking another step forward he was nose to nose with his beautiful girl (mostly because of her high heels) he pecked her tiny nose before commanding her to sleep. She collapsed into his arms, catching her Sean gently laid her on the ground making it look like she had passed out from an alcohol over load. Taking one last glance at her his body once again formed with the shadows, he exited outside from a shadow cast by a street lamp. He watched the girls at the car, the one called Natalie mumbled something about checking on Amy then made her way inside. A few minutes later she came out looking pissed.
"Alright looks like we're crashing here, Kam move your ass I don't want anyone else passing out on me." In a softer tone she called out, "Tony? Honey are you okay? Do you need any help inside?"
"Oh sure you're nice to her! If I was a stranger I'd think you had a crush on her." This Kam girl was starting to get on Sean's nerves. A whole new emotion took over when the last girl finally shuffled out of the car, anger clutched at his core with what he saw of the fourth girl and the next words out of Shantel's mouth.
"Well if you got the shit kicked out of you and looked like some plums gang banged your face I'd be nicer to you too."
Tony gave a half hearted smile before replying, "Yeah well you should see the other guy."
Her clothes were rumpled, blood spots covered the neck and sleeves of her shirt. She stiffly stood and limped from the back seat, the trunk had popped open Tony grabbed an over stuffed duffel bag then made her way inside, as Nat stuck out her hand to take the bag she was leveled with a hard glare.
"I'm not crippled, I'm only bruised. I can take care of myself."
Smiling to himself Sean waited until all the girls were inside before he shifted through the shadows again. He waited until all the other girls had slumped into various spots on over stuffed furniture in the living room. Then picking up on the different moods like frustration, sorrow mixed with rage, lust, and some tipsy sleepiness from the back room slipped into all four minds "vodka would help right now" the command was sent so as to look like a personal thought.
Two hours later he had four very drunk girls passed out all through the apartment. His Amy had woken up and joined the festivities with their encounter erased from her mind. Now that they were all sleeping hard Sean was free to feast. He was a servant of the Boogie Man, while his master feasted on terrible nightmares Sean and his "brothers" feasting on everything else. He personally preferred the blissful dreams.
Nudging Amy with his lips he whispered," Do you mind sharing your dreams with me lovely?" Amy and Nat both answered with a soft yes. Laying on the floor between them his lids closed as he absorbed their foggy dreams, Sean wasn't a vampire or a demon. Right then he was mentally salivating over an ocean scene and reminiscent memories of a summer cabin.
He'd invite his "brothers" to eat after he had his fill. The men he shared his existence with weren't blood related, not even close. They all ranged from pale white skin to a deep caramel, but in heart they were family. Each hand picked by the Boogie Man himself to be slaves of the night world. They could walk in daylight and by definition live a normal life, that privilege they had all earned by working hard and climbing ranks.
Sean curled towards Amy wrapping her lean body with his. Nuzzling his face into her hair he took a few scant seconds to memorize the smell of her. Beneath the sharp tang of alcohol was a softer scent of her shampoo. Kissing the soft skin behind her ear lobe he dissolved into the shadow thrown by her shoulder.
Coming out in his family home Sean was both unaware of the grin he sported and of the silent observer sitting on his bed. Navigating himself around the seating area in his bedroom he was deep in thought looking for a change of clothes.
