Pt. 1
Silent footsteps heard as she made her way over the leaf littered forest floor towards the ancient boardwalk. Those ardent embers of forest glen green peered through thick golden-flecked lashes as they wandered about in mild disarray. Pale strands of light filtered down through the tree's dark canopy to play over satin smooth skin, as the stars shone brightly like tiny diamonds cast upon a midnight velvet canvas. The night was cool this evening as she felt a slight breeze shift from the North to the South and billow in her direction, sending shivers of ice about the delicate arch of her spine. The tiny hairs at the nape of her slender neck turning upwards in silent greeting of the nights dark embrace.
The rustling of the dry leaves and the sound of booted feet marching on the wooden walk...wait...booted feet marching on the walk? She hadn't reached the walk as of yet, so who could it be? Her mind was racing in many directions at once as she paused in her journey back to camp. That lithe form came to a halt suddenly as she strained to listen. The breeze stirred those cinnamon colored tresses and sending glossy tendrils of silk about the soft arch of her cheek. Her expression was one of deep endowing thought when those long lashes covered glowing hues of jade when she tried to concentrate on the sounds echoing around her.
There, she heard it, marching, and with it the faint murmurs of male voices reverberating throughout the shadows of the glades "Who must it be?" she asked herself, no one was supposed to be out this time of night. No one else was at the campsite except her. Those lush lashes fluttered open as she took in a breath of the heady forest scents mixed with that of her floral perfume. Turning her form in the direction of the noises before taking one idle step towards the walkway before she heard it.
Breathing, deep ragged breathing, behind her, definitely nothing of the human sort as it seemed to gasp in breath after breath. It sounded like that of a horse who was suffering from broken wind. "Yes, that was It." she thought as she placed the exact sound. Her body was frozen stock still for fear of movement, like a deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming car. Her own breath lodged in the deep recesses of her throat. A deep chill went all the way down to her bones, filling them with their glacial coldness as she closed her eyes yet again. She took one deep courage gathering breath before spinning around towards the sound, pivoting on those tiny feet.
Opening her eyes with fluttering quickness she tried to glimpse what might have been behind her...but nothing was there. Her normal breathing came back as she had been holding her breath and had not realized this fact. The small silver necklace that had been resting peacefully in the hollow of her throat was now rising and falling with every breath she took. She spun about in a three sixty-degree circle and back again. "Where is it?" She thought. "Am I going crazy?" Questions swamping her mind as she continued to search the area with those eyes of emerald. So sure she was that there would be something there when she had turned. Thoroughly miffed at this fact and trying to deceive herself with the fact that it was only her imagination. She gave the surrounding forest one last glance before turning and walking in the direction of the camp.
That's when she felt it. Warm hot breath feathering over the back of her neck. The hot moistness sent icy tremors through her entire being as she froze in the midst of the deserted fall forest. She was afraid to turn and glimpse what might have been behind her when she took off in a sprint. Then the thudding of hoof beats echoed throughout her mind. Low hanging branches grabbed at her form with bone like fingers and scratched at her clothing and skin beneath. The hot sense of fear a direct contrast to that of the ice like chill she felt tingling up and down the small of her back. So near, yet so far from her encampment.
She kept up the pace until she felt she was about to collapse. The unearthly being gaining ground by the very second, running her down until she had no life left within her. Then all of a sudden it stopped. "Was she crazy?" she kept thinking to herself. As those small yet very shapely breasts heaved up and down in rapid rhythm to her heart's quickened beat. "Had it happened at all?" she asked yet again, trying to keep her sanity and trying to regain some security that denial gave her. "Of course it hadn't happened." she told herself, "I imagined it all" All the while knowing full well that deep down she knew that it was real. All to real.
