Opening her eyes, Valerie realized she was standing in the dark. Whipping her head around she looked from left to right before calling out, "Hello?" Her voice was meek against the almost empty space she was occupying. Suddenly, before her a wolf appeared, large in size. It's gold eyes were level with her shoulders and it seemed to stand still and see through the physical facade of the girl - the beast was staring into her soul. She could feel those eyes look deep as her breath caught hard in her throat, gasping at the intensity of it all.
Valerie stood motionless as her lithe body trembled in fear at the creature before her. The wolf was huge with glossy fur about the color of silver. But upon the wolf's left shoulder seemed to be a dark design of black, lines intricately detailing the pelt in an almost similar fashion as her own design left by the demon Lucifer. Looking down at her own shoulder she saw the same pattern as she reached up to touch her own skin. Quickly looking back to the wolf, she realized it had disappeared.
Spinning in place she looked around in a hurry for the beast in the black of the dream.
It's a dream.
Valerie realized, starting to run forward, attempting to look for the wolf to ask it questions. Moving ahead came to a stop again as she noticed someone a ways in front of her in a field of flowers which began to come into view. It was still dark, but now there was a full moon in the sky casting a glow around them both.
"Excuse me," Valerie began to speak, standing several feet away from the other person before her. "Have you seen the silver wolf? I was hoping to find out what it saw in me." The words flowed out of her like they weren't even her own, but she knew that was the question she wanted answered.
What seemed to be a young woman turned slowly to face her, a billowing baby blue colored dress danced around her as a light breeze blew between them The woman looked to Valerie with a gentle smile that held no hostility, her blue eyes shone an almost white gleam in the light of the moon. "Well, what do you see in yourself?" The voice spoke out with such a soft tone it was almost a whisper.
Valerie blinked once at the question before answering rather quickly, "I see fire. And rain." She looked down at her hands, then down to the field, "But I feel like flowers." Her head slowly tilted up to the moonlight as she gazed at the beauty, "I see the moon in myself. I'm consistent. Consistently changing into something to fit with the world around me. My phases are internal. Sometimes I have such heat within my veins that I can't explain until I calm myself down in a stream of tears." She started trembling as all her thoughts erupted into words, "But I'm growing, growing...wild." Her mouth was dry as she tried to swallow, looking back up to the woman noticing she had moved closer until she stood about an arms length away.
They both stared at each other. Valerie stood slightly shorter than the blue eyed blue dressed tan skinned female. Her hair was an auburn red with lowlights of dark brown. The shape of her face was oval and her eyes were big with long, black lashes. Her lips held a small smile that seemed to say she was understanding of the confused girl before her, posture very tight like someone royal from a long ago kingdom. The unknown woman reached her hands out to grab Valerie's, both of them standing hand in hand. Valerie swallowed hard as she let the lady reach for her, hands warm against her own shivering skin.
"You are very strong Valerie, a lureik like you shouldn't belong in such a situation but you seem to be coping bravely." The women took a small breath before squeezing her hands slightly. "Seems as though you stumbled into the path of a great leader who will help you understand things about yourself as you are and about what you will become." She pushed Valerie's hands together so they closed with palms jointly before opening them back up like a book. Within Valerie's hands now sat a small pickling of a yellow daisy. "Ryker will help you just as you will help him. The silver wolf sees the alphass in you, prove to the black wolf that you are one."
And with that the woman disappeared, leaving Valerie to stare at the flower in her palms. The crunching of twigs brought her back to reality as she shot her gaze up to a man infront of her, Ryker.
"You saw her." He sounded shocked and almost defensive, like he couldn't believe that Valerie wouldn't be able to have a very random dream, such as this one. But his expression made it seem like this dream wasn't just something out of imagination. "She came to you? You." He paused, "Not me.."
Valerie frowned softly with confusion not understanding the situation at hand. "Yes, I saw a woman and she explained you would guide me."
"You saw..her..." Was his only response as his face started to soften, Ryker looked from the moon then back at the white haired girl. He held the silence between them as he pondered what he witnessed. From what Valerie could tell he definitely wasn't upset anymore; he almost seemed relieved. Walking towards her, he quickly reached out his hand to touch two finger tips to her forehead, "Let me just take these memories and wake you up, little storm."
--
The smell of bacon wove around her very being as she blinked her eyes open. The morning light shown through the double french doors that led from the bedroom out into the living space. Valerie lay still as she let out a heavy sign she hadn't realized she was holding.
I'm a werewolf..and...a demon wanted to take me as his.
She shivered softly against the thought of something so life changing. Turning to look next to her she realized Ryker was gone and she was alone in the bed. Stretching out on her side she realized she was holding onto something in her hands. Slowly unfolding her palms she saw a somewhat crinkled daisy that was yellow in color.
Staring profoundly at the little plant she let her eyebrows wrinkle up in speculation.
Where did this come from?
The creak of the doors opening quickly shot her attention away from the bloom of the plant, her eyes squinting at the bright sunlight that was now pouring into the dark of the room. A tall, dark figure stood in the doorway, a pair of black silken boxers hung low on his hips, the v line of muscle casting playful illusions in Valerie's mind. She swallowed a dry mouth before answering, "Goodmorning." - just as the same time his message sent through;
Goodmorning.
The silently stared at each other, a quick grin appearing on Ryker's face as he began to move closer to her, carrying what seemed to be a tray of food. Her stomach began to growl on cue as she smelled the wonderful aroma of breakfast. Sitting up in bed she invited the man to come closer just as she moved her legs, letting him sit on the side of the bed that was closest to her.
"I hope you like bacon, eggs, and toast." Ryker said aloud as he held the tray out for her, but just as she went to reach for it he pulled it back, her arms falling short.
Valerie growled and glared at the male, a frown settling on her face.
He smirked at her, "Beg for it."
Something stirred in her lower abdomen the way he said those words and she could feel a small blush flaring on her cheeks. "You're so charming." was all she could snap back.
His gaze faltered slightly as he noticed the yellow daisy that now lay upon his red sheets in the space where he had laid just a few hours ago, thinking back on Valerie's dream that he had interrupted. Quickly he changed his demeanor and gently set the tray down in the girls' lap, even giving her a small smile. "Please eat up, we have a long day ahead of us and I'm prepared to answer all of your questions." Ryker stood of slowly and moved towards the doors, stopping to lean in the frame of one of them, "You better have some good ones for me." He gave a lopsided grin before turned his chiseled back to her and moving away from the bedroom.
Valerie was once again confused by the strange man, but she guessed the personality of his must be something that came with being a wolf. Finishing her food rather quickly, she grabbed the tray and made her way out of bed. Carrying the red ceramic dish, she moved out the doors, walking past the living room and into the kitchen. Here it was small, colored with whites and reds and yellows, wooden cabinets and floors mixed well with the sandy colored granite countertops.
She lifted her gaze to look towards Ryker who sat at a four person table before putting the tray in the sink. He sat comfortably in a white wooden chair that seemed almost too small for his big frame. A cup of what seemed to be coffee sat on some documents that were spread about the table. Valerie walked closer before stopping on the opposite side of him, "What kind of job do you have anyways?" She asked, looking at all the graphs and numbers and what seemed to be important texts.
He looked up to her from a paper he was holding and raised his eyebrows, "Do you really care what kind of job I have? I thought I told you to have some good questions." Ryker gave an amused expression before setting down the paper, shuffling the files into a pile before sliding them back into the manilla folder.
Valerie however, didn't look amused. This was something she wanted to know, especially since this man could afford such a nice enclosed rooftop oasis. She pulled the chair out across from his and sat down, quietly folding her hands together before staring up at him with her dark blue eyes, waiting on his answer.
Staring at her, he sighed softly and reached a hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose.
