Chapter 19: Blind Justice.
Seven's foot clipped yet another stone causing him to stumble for the tenth time in an hour but before he could fall Visa caught him and hoisted him up.
"Gotta say I'm not exactly enjoying this shit" he grumbled.
"Well if you would just take my hand it would be a lot easier" Visa shot back.
"Your human is a proud one I'll give him that much, he's almost as bad as a certain crazy tail claw not a million miles from us" Ven chuckled.
"I am NOT a crazy tail!!" Visa snapped whirling around to glare at her grinning brother and as she did her tail snapped around so fast that when it caught the back of Seven's legs it whipped them out from under him causing him to crash down hard on his back with a yell.
As Visa scrambled to pick up her fallen male Ven roared with laughter, "Knocking your little human on his ass? Seems a pretty crazy tail thing to do to me" he laughed while his sister snarled at him as she picked up Seven onto his feet.
"Right no more arguing, I have the solution," Wisp said rolling up to them and Seven swallowed nervously inside his darkness filled helmet.
"Oh god, this is embarrassing," Seven said as he rode along on Visa's back like she was an oversized horse, he'd managed to wedge his body in between her spines which was quite an accomplishment while wearing power armour.
He had tried to suggest that he take it off but Visa's pride wouldn't allow it, to her it must have been like him questioning her strength which in turn questioned her pride as an Alpha Claw, so here he was sat atop her back still in full power armour looking like some kind of fucked up medieval knight riding a deathclaw.
But eventually, they reached somewhere the group deemed safe enough to make camp for the day, as it turned out it was a basement in a building at the edge of the city, though it was one that Seven did not see so it would be impossible for the mysterious number Two to use what he did see when Visa unwound the bandage/blindfold from his viewport.
"This should be safe enough, for now, this city is huge and it is in absolute ruins, so it all looks exactly the same as this" Wisp said as she rolled around the large open plan basement, to Seven it didn't look like the basement of a house, more like something larger, like a shop maybe.
"Good, hopefully, that will keep them off the scent for a little while but I'm willing to bet that that team of hunters is still probably on our trail so we should not get complacent, it'll only take one radio call and we'll have the entire bloody Enclave down on our heads and this time I do not think they'll underestimate us again," Seven said as he placed his armour in the corner of the large room and stepped out of it.
The place was filled with a multitude of shelves containing sealed packs of what looked like prewar goods, though what they were was utterly a mystery, the bombs and the ravages of time had not been kind, plus Seven had no intention of opening one lest one piece he picked up identified where they were and forced them to move again.
Seven also found a small bunker door hidden in the corner of the room, it looked like it had come right off a ship or a submarine but with two very large locks embedded into it and it was locked tight.
Well right up until Gregory worked his magic with those tools of his on it, once open it revealed a smaller shelter hidden behind it, it looked to be untouched, a place for either the employees or maybe the owner and their family to survive the apocalypse, a place they never managed to reach in time.
The small bunker was utterly untouched by the ravages of time, it was like a small-time capsule into the world before the nuclear fire.
There was a small living area that had been modelled to look exactly like the living room of a suburban house before the war, complete with TV and fireplace, there was a small kitchen in the back that had a multitude of appliances that were rendered useless without power.
There were also a couple of small bunk rooms with single beds made to house the family, each room contained four single beds arranged in a square almost like those in a military barracks.
"Think this will do nicely for the night," Seven said as he headed back to retrieve his armour so he could move it into the bunker.
"All thanks to my pretty human boy and those beautiful nimble hands of his," Ven said taking one of Gregory's hands in his and lifting it up to his maw where he planted a surprisingly tender kiss on his human's glove covered hand.
Seven couldn't help but smile as he saw Gregory squirm with embarrassment and happiness, he knew he'd be blushing like crazy under his suit and that actually made him happy, it was so good to see the gentle human so utterly in love with his big strong claw boy that even something so simple filled his belly with butterflies that Seven knew only too well because they filled him every time he saw Visa's salacious smile.
Wisp was rolling around the bunker inspecting the place, she borrowed Gregory for a little bit from Ven's tight grasp but it proved worthwhile because with a bit of tinkering they managed to get a small fusion reactor she'd found in the back powered up and suddenly the whole place sprung to life, ready and willing to finally do the job it had waited all these long years to do.
With the lights, air pumps and water filters now all working and online Seven closed the bunker door from the inside and locked it, granted it meant that they were kinda trapped in here but at least it was a comfortable trap.
Seven dropped into one of the comfortable couches in the living area coughing to himself as he sent a cloud of dust rising into the air, though it was made even worse when Visa dropped down onto it next to him and her weight caused the frame to protest rather loudly, but that didn't stop her scooping him up into her large arms and pulling him up into her lap so she could embrace him properly, he could feel her powerful heart thumping against his back as she lowered her head to rest atop his head.
