Angel's POV:
I had been watching her for months now. At first, I dismissed her when we were in college together. She was not my type. I prefer BBWs, after all. I can be rough with them. The skinnier girls were more fragile. Well, Violet had changed over the years. I watched through social media that she got married, had a child, got divorced as he had an affair, and lost the child. All very sad. I know I shouldn't kick a dog when it's down but... I mean... That's what brought me to today. I was dressed up nicely in all black... out of respect. I had a plan and I think today was my best chance at it.
Violet's POV:
I was tucking my purple hair into a nice bun. I had dyed it since that was Aiden's favorite color. I broke down and cried yet again. My baby was only 8... 8 years old and I lose him forever... My ex-husband, Justin, came in and held me as I cried. He was in tears as well. The only thing we could agree on was Aiden and now that he's gone, I don't know what to do with myself. Justin's husband, Armando, came in and sighed. He and I were always great friends.
"You two have got to get yourselves together or we will never make it to the church in time."
I remember nodding and rushing off to the church. I remember the pastor's every word and the faces of all that came to mourn with us as we laid our baby to rest. There was one face I did not expect to see. Her face hadn't changed... she looked just as she had when we were in school together... Angel Martinez...
She came over and introduced herself to Justin and Armando. She pulled me to the side and handed me a business card. Hers. It listed her as CEO of her own company located downtown. On the back, it had a different address.
"Come to my home tomorrow after you get your affairs dealt with. I want to talk with you about something. I also wanted to come and show my support. I've been following your social media and I couldn't help but follow along in Aiden's journey. I'm very sorry for your loss."
The rest of the day was a blur. I dreaded going tomorrow but yet was looking forward to it. Once everyone left, including Armando, Justin and I just sat in my apartment and talked things out.
"I will still give you alimony."
"You don't have to do that, Justin."
"I will. Whether you decide to stay here or whatever you decide to do in life. I will pay you a little more so you can go out in the world and find yourself... you devoted the last 6 years to Aiden and trying to get him healthy. You need to find yourself... I may not be your husband and I may not love you as you loved me but I do care for you and I want you to be happy.
Angel's POV (for the last time):
I had everything planned. This would be the first time I did this but I was excited. Every little thing was prepared. Every possible outcome was accounted for. I prepared the guest room and made it to match Violet's tastes so she would feel a little more comfortable. I mean, after all... she deserved to have some comfort given all that she will be going through...
Violet's POV (for good, I promise):
The next day, I put my hair in a french braid. Just one long one down my back. I wore my favorite skirt, low-cut blouse, and matching thong and bra set as well as my favorite black flats. I was always afraid to wear heels... Armando was taking me to go see what Angel wanted. I felt more comfortable knowing that he would be with me. Angel always made me nervous. Even when we were roommates in college... I was so lost in thought, I hadn't noticed when we left the suburbs and entered the country. It wasn't until we stopped in front of a large house surrounded by woods that I realized that we had arrived. Armando looked at me and back at the house. I guess it was time to go in...
Armando helped me from the car and into the house. Angel greeted us like we were best friends. She hugged me and even hugged Armando strangely enough. When we got in, she offered us each a coffee. Armando declined but I couldn't help but accept. Coffee would be needed to handle this meeting. When Angel came back, I downed the coffee. She and Armando were talking about something but I didn't catch it. Everything felt weird. I remember shifting to get more comfortable and then nothing.
When I came to, I was in a room I didn't recognize but Armando was there smiling at me. Angel was nowhere to be seen.
"Armando... what happened?"
"You fell asleep. Angel is just getting a room ready for you so you can stay the night."
"But I want to go home."
"Sorry, sugar but the car won't start. We are stuck here for the night."
