"Finally, we're here!" Robby exclaimed as he pulled into a parking spot outside the sprawling Top Golf building. It was a little past two on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. He and Claire had run into traffic caused by an accident on the interstate and arrived 15 minutes after their friends' reservation time.

"Okay, I know the traffic wasn't ideal, but I have a feeling the rest of today's going to be great, babe. I can just sense it," he added, turning to face Claire, his girlfriend of four years.

Claire smiled warmly at his words as she briefly checked herself in the vanity mirror. She never wore much makeup, but the little blush she had on gave her a soft glow that accentuated her big green eyes. Her raven-black hair was tied back into a ponytail, her go-to for physical activity.

She opened the passenger door and stepped out, stretching her 5'4" figure after the long ride. Robby followed suit but couldn't help but stare at his girlfriend as he circled around to the other side of the car. Claire wasn't wearing anything special, just a simple t-shirt and yoga pants, but she had a kind of beauty that didn't need to try - it was just there. From her shapely yet toned body to the soft curve of her lips, every inch of her captivated him (as well as virtually any other man who laid eyes on her).

Claire was not only beautiful, but also smart, funny, loyal, and supportive - a perfect partner in every way. Robby couldn't wait to propose to her. He'd already started ring shopping with his mom, who was practically buzzing with excitement. She adored Claire, and Claire returned that love - getting along with Robby's family had always been easy for her. As far as his personal life went, Robby felt like things couldn't get much better.

"Do you think Lauren will like the guy Josh is setting her up with?" Claire asked, snapping him out of his thoughts as she finished stretching.

Robby grinned as the couple began walking towards the entrance. "Oh, who knows with her. I think as long as the guy can sit through hours of her talking about herself, she'll be happy. But if he's got any sense, he'll be running for the hills by sundown."

Claire shot him a playful, stern look, trying to keep a straight face, but she couldn't hold back a giggle. She knew Robby was right. Lauren had been a friend of hers for years - someone she could always count on for a fun night of gossip or drinks - but she had a tendency to dominate any conversation. Claire, usually a patient listener who saw the good in everyone, had to admit that Lauren was best enjoyed in small doses.

As they reached the entrance, Robby held the door open for Claire and admired the view as she walked ahead of him. He tried not to objectify her, but even after four years together, sometimes he just couldn't help himself. Her body was truly incredible. Especially from behind - a result of both her years of dancing and her hard work at the gym. That's where they had first met, when Robby was working at the front desk for his dad's gym shortly after high school. Robby had never been the academic type, so when his dad offered him a full-time job, he gladly took it.

The memory of the day Claire first walked into his life was still vivid in Robby's mind. She caught his eye immediately when she walked through those gym doors. She kept returning and Robby started chatting her up as much as he could between her sets. He was amazed by her down-to-earth nature and genuine kindness, despite her breathtaking appearance. Eventually he worked up the courage to ask her out, she said yes, and now four plus years later, here they were still going strong.

"Nice of you two to show up!" Josh called out as Claire and Robby rounded the corner toward the bay where their friends were supposed to be gathered.

They both smiled at Josh, who had been Robby's best friend since childhood. The two were often mistaken for brothers, with their dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and similar facial features. Josh was a bit taller - around 6'0" to Robby's 5'9" - and had a lightly pudgier build, while Robby was more the skinny type. Josh's fiancΓ©e, Jenna, liked to tease him about his "dad bod", joking that he was already preparing for fatherhood.

While Robby and Josh did their usual handshake greeting, Claire glanced around for the girls, but didn't spot Jenna or Lauren. Josh noticed her searching and spoke up. "Oh, the girls went down to the bottom floor bar to have a drink before we all started. It's just me and Christian up here. Speaking of," he added, gesturing to his right, "you haven't met my buddy from the office yet."

Claire's eyes followed Josh's hand, and for the first time, she noticed the man who had just finished a turn hitting golf balls.

Christian turned around and approached the three of them. Claire had to stop herself from gasping. He was incredibly attractive - tall, about 6'3", with short, dirty blonde hair and striking blue eyes. His muscular, athletic frame was accentuated by the tight shirt he wore. He looked like one of those MMA fighters who spent all year training. His face, however, was far less battered than the fighters Robby liked to watch on PPV. Christian's features were chiseled and handsome.

Claire felt a flutter of nerves as he approached, extending his hand first to Robby, then to her.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Christian. As I'm sure you just heard," he greeted with a friendly chuckle.

Christian's hand completely engulfed Claire's. She quickly composed herself as Josh introduced her as Robby's girlfriend. "Hello," she said pleasantly, returning his smile. Christian's eyes lingered on her for just a moment too long, and she felt a pang of self-consciousness run through her, then he quickly glanced back over at Robby.

"I have to say, bro, I'm impressed," he chirped. "She's fine as hell, you must be the man."

Robby chuckled and thanked him, but Claire had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. Talking about her like she wasn't there and congratulating her boyfriend for her existence wasn't exactly charming. She could tell right away that he was one of those obnoxious Chad-bro types.

Still, Claire was too polite to let her annoyance show. She smiled again, leaned over to kiss Robby on the cheek, and excused herself to go join the girls at the bar.

As Claire walked down the stairs, she saw her friends sitting on stools with drinks in hand. They were the only two people down there besides the bartender - probably because it was a little early for most people to start drinking.

"Hey, gorgeous girl!" Jenna called out as soon as she saw Claire walking towards them. Jenna was just a little shorter than Claire, about 5'3", and had a punk rock vibe - blonde hair with the ends dyed black, small gauges in her ears, a nose ring, and an eyebrow piercing. She pulled off the look well, and Claire always thought she was adorable. Jenna wasn't into the gym like Claire, but she stayed in good shape by jogging regularly. The two had met through their boyfriends once Claire started dating Robby, and they'd become fast friends. Now, with Jenna and Josh engaged and planning their wedding for next Fall, Claire considered Jenna one of her closest friends. They embraced as Claire reached them, then Claire moved to hug Lauren as well.

Lauren was taller than both girls, standing at 5'7". She had brown hair that she kept just above her shoulders, and though she wasn't as toned as Claire or Jenna, she had little trouble attracting attention. She'd never really struggled to find men interested in her, keeping them was the challenge.

Lauren spoke up after hugging Claire, "Now the fun can officially start. Bartender, our friend will have a mimosa, please. And I'll have another one, too."

Claire laughed, "So the plan is to get totally obliterated before the day is done, then?"

"I need liquid courage right now, Claire. Did you meet Christian?" Lauren asked.

Claire decided not to mention that her first impression of him was that he kind of seemed like a tool and instead kept things positive for Lauren's sake. "I did. Josh introduced us. He's quite the looker, girlie," she said, raising her eyebrows at Lauren.

"Quite the looker? Claire, he's the sexiest man I've ever laid eyes on!" Lauren proclaimed, squealing with excitement. "You're going to have to remind me to thank Josh for getting him to come out, Jenna. I mean, this guy is crazy hot, has a great job, and is already friends with your fiancΓ©e. He might be hubby material!"

Jenna and Claire exchanged a knowing glance. "Okay, okay, calm down, Lauren," Jenna warned. "Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, you know how guys can be." Both friends knew that Lauren was in danger of scaring him off if she kept talking like that. "But I do have to say it - he's fine as hell. I'm going to have to start going to Josh's office parties if all his coworkers are that hot. Just for the eye candy!"

"You and I will hopefully be going to those together if all goes right today!" Lauren gushed. "I think I'll have him falling in love within the hour honestly, but don't be afraid to talk me up to him, guys."

"We'll do everything in our power to make you look like the best catch possible, hot stuff." Claire smiled, and Lauren beamed in return.

The girls continued chatting, some about Jenna's wedding planning stress and some more about how hot Lauren's blind date was, ordering another round of drinks, in no rush to join the guys upstairs at the golf bay quite yet.

Back upstairs, the guys were starting another game between just the three of them. Josh went first, leaving Christian and Robby to chat.

"So what do you do, man?" Christian asked, casually picking up his club.

"I work at my dad's gym. Hoping to inherit it one day and run it myself," Robby replied, watching as Josh hit another drive.

"Cool dude, what about Claire? What's she do?" Christian followed up, making light conversation.

"She works for a dance studio as an instructor, teaching classes. She's been dancing her whole life, basically," Robby said, pride evident in his voice.

"Oh nice, how long have you and her been together?" Christian asked.

"It's been just over four years now. Time flies," Robby answered.

"Wow, I'm surprised you haven't locked that down yet," Christian said, his smirk returning. "She's the kind of girl who makes me regret putting a ring on mine."

Robby paused, taking a moment to process what he just said. "Wait, what? You're married?" he asked, suddenly confused. Wasn't he here as Lauren's blind date?

Christian gave a small chuckle. "Not married. Engaged. She thinks I'm on a business trip this weekend. I left this morning with a suitcase and everything," he explained with an almost gleeful grin. "Really, I'm crashing at Josh's place and hoping to get an easy lay out of that Lauren girl with the huge tits. Josh said you all needed someone to keep her occupied, or she'd be insufferable."

Josh, finishing his turn, overheard the last part and shook his head, laughing. "Yeah, right. You were begging me to hook you up with one of Jenna's friends. What was it you said - 'the easier, the better'?" Josh shot Robby a grin. "This guy's just a dog, trying to get as many bones as he can before he officially ties the knot, man."

Robby forced a laugh, trying to hide his discomfort. "Heh, well Lauren's probably the easiest friend the girls have, so... you made a good call, I guess."

Christian's bluntness had hit Robby harder than he let on. His smile faded a little as he processed what had been said. He didn't like being around someone so cavalier about cheating. But since Josh was seemingly totally cool with it, Robby kept his mouth shut, figuring it was better to just go with the flow.

His thoughts quickly went to Claire. No way was he bringing this up to her today. He knew exactly how she would react, and he wasn't about to stir the pot when the day was supposed to be about having fun. Besides, he didn't like Lauren all that much anyway. If things got messy between her and Christian, it wouldn't be his problem.

The guys finished their game, and soon after, the girls made their way upstairs to join them. The group of six spent the next couple of hours playing, but much to the other guys' dismay, Christian dominated every round. He made sure everyone knew it, too - constantly boasting and celebrating with exaggerated enthusiasm every time he nailed a perfect shot. The others laughed it off, and Lauren swooned over his confidence, but something about Christian continued to rub Claire the wrong way. She couldn't deny his attractiveness and skill, but his cockiness overshadowed it all.

What bothered her more was how she started to notice him stealing glances at her, especially whenever Robby was taking his turn. At first, Claire assumed it was innocent, but it quickly became clear that Christian was deliberately trying to catch her eye.

A wink here, a smug smile there, always when he knew no one else was looking. Claire's response was a look of confusion followed by a small, forced laugh, hoping to make things feel less awkward, but it wasn't working. She was mostly just uncomfortable. It wasn't as though she lacked experience in dealing with unwanted advances, but this was different. The way Christian was eyeing her in front of everyone - especially Robby, her boyfriend, and Lauren, the girl he was supposed to be on a blind date with - felt disrespectful.

Claire didn't want to make a scene or ruin anyone's good time, so she did her best to ignore it. At least she could take solace in the way Lauren was talking his ear off. It was almost satisfying to watch him hide his annoyance as Lauren rambled on. Claire knew Lauren well enough to understand that no one could endure her self-centered stories without eventually cracking. It wouldn't be long before Christian wouldn't be able to play it so cool. She just hoped it happened sooner rather than later. Secretly, she found herself excited by the thought of seeing that cocky smirk fade away.

"And Christian wins. Again. Are you ever going to let up and give someone else a shot at glory, man?" Josh said as they finished yet another game. Christian grinned, ready with a reply, but Lauren cut him off.

"I think it's so hot how you're winning every time. What a man!" Lauren cooed, and everyone else cringed in unison.

"Err, alright, how about one more game, then we head back to my place and figure out what to do next?" Josh suggested. The group nodded in agreement, but just as Jenna got up to go first, Robby's phone beeped with a text. Claire, sitting next to him, glanced over as he read it.

"Fuck." Robby said through gritted teeth, his eyes glued to the screen. He was quiet enough that only Claire heard him.

"What's wrong?" she asked, concerned.

"My dad's asking me to cover the swing shift tonight because Brenda called out sick. I'd have to be there in an hour and work 'til 2 a.m. I swear, I bet she's just lying because she wants a Saturday night off." Robby's voice was laced with frustration.

Claire's heart sank. "Robby, no... we haven't had time like this to spend with Josh and Jenna in forever. I thought we were going to hang with them all day. You can't go to work."

Robby glanced up at her, then back at his phone as another message came through. "Goddammit, looks like I don't have a choice. Dad says he's cashing in the favor I owe him."

"What favor?" Claire asked.

"You know, from when I had that morning shift the day after the Final Four last month..." Robby trailed off, his voice sounding defeated.

Claire instantly remembered. About six weeks ago, Robby had gone out with his brother and Josh to watch the Final Four at a local bar. Instead of just watching the game, he drank "more than should be possible for a single man in one sitting," according to Josh, and got into screaming matches with strangers cheering for the teams he was betting against. Eventually, Robby was kicked out, and Claire had to pick him up. As soon as they got home, he passed out from the alcohol and slept into the next afternoon. When he did wake the next day, Robby had a brutal hangover and about 15 angry messages from his dad, reminding him he was supposed to be at work by 9 a.m. Claire had suspected that if he wasn't the owner's son, he might have lost his job that day. Now, she realized his dad had been holding that over his head for a future favor. And today was the day he'd decided to cash it in.

Robby saw the disappointment in her eyes and sighed. "Look, you can stay here, then go back with Josh and Jenna, and still enjoy the night. I know it sucks, but you'll have fun without me. Have some drinks, hang out. I can even come pick you up after my shift."

"It won't be nearly as fun if you're not here," Claire said in a quiet, disappointed tone.

"I'm really sorry, babe. I promise I'll make it up to you. Next weekend, I'll plan something special for just us. A day that's all ours." Robby smiled, trying to comfort her.

Claire let out a small sigh but smiled back. She knew he didn't have a choice, and she appreciated that he was trying to make her feel better about it. "Okay, I'll hold you to that, mister. But you don't have to come get me tonight. I'm sure I'll be passed out by midnight, anyway. I'll just crash at Josh and Jenna's place, and you can pick me up tomorrow morning."

"You sure?" Robby asked.

"Yeah. I know you were up early, and honestly, I'll be fine. Just go home and rest after your shift."

"I don't deserve you." Robby kissed her quickly, but lovingly.

Then he walked over to Josh, letting him know about the situation and asking if it was okay for Claire to stay at their place tonight, which Josh readily agreed to. They already had Christian in the guest room, probably with Lauren joining him assuming he could seal the deal with her, but Josh told Robby that Claire could crash on the couch. Robby quickly said his goodbyes, kissed Claire one more time, and headed out, stopping at the exit to shoot Claire one last smile.

The remainder of the group played on, Jenna going over to comfort Claire after her turn finished, making sure she wasn't too bummed out about being the fifth wheel for the rest of the day. Claire appreciated how sweet Jenna always was to her, never failing to check in. Claire reassured her that she'd still make the best of the day. Even with Robby gone, it didn't have to be a total drag.

It wasn't long before it was Claire's turn again. She grabbed a club, set a ball on the tee, and lined herself up. Just as she was about to swing, she heard Christian's voice behind her.

"Hold on, Claire," he said abruptly. "Your form's been bugging me. Let me help you."

Before she had time to react, he was already close behind her. She felt his body press against her back, and his hands reached around hers to adjust the club.

"You're moving your hips too much with each swing," he instructed. "Just come down nice and easy, like this."

His hands molded around hers on the club as he guided her through a practice swing. Claire's pulse quickened, nerves shooting through her at the way his whole body was enveloping her.

Christian's body was warm against hers, his breath just a little too close to her ear. She wanted him to step away, but she felt goosebumps as her own body reacted involuntarily. She could feel the weight of his gaze as he spoke softly, his voice almost too intimate.

"Don't be afraid to grip a little tighter, either," he whispered as if insinuating something.
