Chapter 1: Cheating and Chastity
Amaia sat across from Charlotte, staring blankly into her cup of coffee. Her heart was heavy and her mind was clouded with thoughts of Daniel's betrayal. She couldn't believe that after all they had been through, he would do something like this to her.
"I just don't know what to do," Amaia said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I love him so much, but how can I trust him again?"
Charlotte's eyes blazed with anger. "That bastard doesn't deserve your love," she said, her voice low and intense. "He's a liar and a cheat. You deserve better than that."
Amaia looked up at her friend, tears streaming down her face. "But what if it was just a mistake?" she said. "What if he really is sorry and wants to make things right?"
Charlotte shook her head. "Don't be foolish, Amaia. He knew exactly what he was doing. He made a choice to betray you, and that's not something you can just forget about."
Amaia nodded slowly, taking in her friend's words. She knew Charlotte was right, but it was hard to accept that the man she loved could be capable of such a thing.
After finishing their coffee, Charlotte walked Amaia home, making sure she was safely inside before turning to leave. As she walked away, her mind was already working on a plan to get revenge on Daniel for what he had done to her best friend.
She contacted a private investigator, determined to gather evidence of Daniel's infidelity. She wanted to make him pay for what he had done, and she was willing to go to great lengths to make it happen.
As she waited for the investigator's report, Charlotte couldn't help but think about how she could use the information to hurt Daniel. She knew it was petty and vindictive, but she didn't care. Amaia was her best friend, and she would do anything to protect her.
When the report finally came in, Charlotte smiled to herself. She had all the evidence she needed to ruin Daniel's reputation and make him pay for what he had done. And she couldn't wait to see the look on his face when he realised what she had done.
-----
Daniel Sung walked out of the bank, feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders. He had just finished a long day at work, and the last thing he wanted to deal with was drama from his personal life. He checked his phone and saw a missed call from Charlotte Bresford, Amaia's best friend. He called her back and she asked him to meet her at her office.
As he sat in Charlotte's office, his heart racing as she showed him the evidence of his infidelity. He had been foolish, thinking that he could get away with cheating on Amaia, but now it seemed that everything was falling apart. As Charlotte spoke, he could feel the weight of his mistake pressing down on him.
"I can't believe you would do this to Amaia," Charlotte said, her voice shaking with anger. "She trusted you, and you betrayed her."
Daniel's heart sank. He knew that he had made a terrible mistake, and now it was catching up with him. "Look, I know what I did was wrong, but please don't tell Amaia. I love her and I don't want to lose her."
Charlotte looked at him, unimpressed. "Love? You don't know what love is. Love is not hurting someone you care about."
Daniel hung his head in shame. "What do you want from me?"
"I want you to sign a power of attorney to appoint me as your legal agent," Charlotte said. "Then I'll make all the evidence go away, and you'll never have to worry about Amaia finding out."
Daniel hesitated. He didn't want to give up his rights, but he also didn't want to lose everything. "What will you do with the power of attorney?" he asked.
"I'll hold onto it, just in case," Charlotte said with a sly smile. "You never know when you might need a friend in high places."
Daniel knew that he was being blackmailed, but he also knew that he had put himself in this situation. He sighed heavily and signed the document in front of a public notary. "Just please don't hurt Amaia," he pleaded.
Charlotte took the document and put it in her bag. "Don't worry, I'll take care of everything," she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction.
As Daniel left Charlotte's office, he knew that he had made a deal with the devil. He just hoped that it wouldn't come back to haunt him.
-----
Many weeks later, Daniel got a text from Charlotte. As Daniel read the text, his heart started to race. He had been avoiding her ever since their last encounter, which he'd rather forget. He knew Charlotte was not someone to be messed with. But he also knew that he could not keep avoiding her forever. The text read, "Hey Daniel, it's been a while. How about you come over to my place this Friday evening for a few drinks? I have something to discuss with you." Daniel felt a shiver run down his spine. He was afraid of Charlotte, and he didn't want to find out what she wanted to discuss.
Friday came and he arrived at Charlotte's brownstone. She greeted him with a smile that made his knees weak. "Come on in, Daniel," she said as she led him into her living room. "I hope you like wine, I have a great bottle here." Daniel couldn't help but admire her house; it was huge, and he wondered where she got the money to afford it.
"Can I get you a drink?" Charlotte asked, her voice dripping with honey.
