A week had passed by and Cassandra wasn't get any better. Chloe was scared her daughter's condition might worsen. A couple of days after they'd arrived at the motel Cassie fell sick. Chloe was certain it was just a bug that would stop if she got some meds from the pharmacy store. It didn't stop. Everyday Cassie's situation was getting worse. Chloe didn't have much money to get her admitted to any hospital or see a doctor. She didn't have health insurance either.
On Thursday night, she found herself walking to Hawk's headquarters. She'd swallow her pride and ask Logan for help. Thank God the lights in his office were still on; he was still at work. As Chloe approached his office she heard loud moans; her heart started beating fast. Had he moved on so quick? She couldn't believe it. For a moment Chloe felt like she meant something to him. Like she mattered. Boy she felt dumb! She opened the door to see Logan's face burried in another's woman's pussy. Cecilia's skirt was on the floor. Her back arched as she moaned Logan's name. Chloe couldn't believe her eyes. Tears ran down her face. She couldn't move her feet or hands. Looking into her eyes Logan could see the hurt and rage she felt. Chloe ran off with Logan chasing after her. He was fully dressed except for his tie. He caught up with her. "Let me go!" she couldn't look at him in the eye. He lifted her chin, something about her wasn't right.
"Where have you been? Do you know how long I've been looking for you?"
"Yeah, of course you've been looking," she rolled her eyes. "Let me go!"
"Where's Cassie?"
"She's fine. Let me go!" she tried to fight him off. Cecelia who was now fully dressed was too ashamed to walk out Logan's office. Logan didn't want to go back either. Chloe wasn't supposed to see that. "Listen you can get back to what you were doing, just let me go."
"I'll let you go. Tell me where Cassie is and if she's safe."
Chloe cried, Cassandra was the reason she came to see Logan. She never thought she'd find him between another woman's thighs. "Cassandra's sick. She's in hospital. I can't--I don't know what to do," she sat down, exhausted. She couldn't fight the tears anymore, "I came here cause I needed your help."
"You don't need it anymore?" he asked.
"No," she said calmly. Coming here was clearly a bad idea. She desperately wanted to believe a little part of him cared about her. That the intimacy they shared meant something to him.
"Fine, I won't help you," he lied. "Just tell where Cassandra is."
Reluctantly Chloe told him. With his hand by her back he led her to his car. She was silent all the way to the hospital. He tried making conversation but she just wasn't into it.
The doctor assured them Cassandra would be fine. It was just bug, something she picked up that attacked her immune system. Driving home, Logan was desperate to talk to Chloe about Cecilia. She didn't say a word. Her mind was somewhere else. He showed her to a room next to his. Refusing to eat anything or talk, Chloe took a bath and went to bed... All she wanted was time to think and reflect.
Seeing Logan with somebody else broke her spirit. She cared about him, more than she'd admit but it was clear he didn't feel the same way. All he wanted from her was sex. But Chloe on the other hand had grown to understand his dark side, to accept him for who he was. Because you are stupid Chloe, she thought. The next day came too early. Logan was agitated, Chloe hadn't said anything to him besides talking about Cassandra. He wanted to explain his actions, to tell her Cecilia didn't mean anything but she was too far absorbed in her internal thoughts.
He couldn't tell if she was angry or hurt. Thus he wanted to talk about it, sort it out, soothe the pain. Chloe was distant however, avoiding Logan at all costs. She felt ashamed. How had she been so stupid all this time? Why couldn't she see him for who he truly was? Of course she knew the answer to that. She loved him; including his scary darkness. Logan decided he'd talk to her lunch time. Burst the bubble.
Chloe wasn't really hungry and neither was he. He took a deep breath in, analysing her face. She was still breathtakingly beautiful. Her blonde hair was a bit longer than it was now. Her emerald eyes told a different story however; she was exhausted. He wondered, if this was the right time to talk about everything that's happened between them. Maybe his mother was right; maybe he was just as selfish and sadistic as his father. Inconsiderate. And maybe Chloe wasn't safe with him. Still a large part of him wanted her, all of her. Finally having enough courage, he said, "It didn't mean anything, you know?"
"What?"
"What you saw last night. It didn't mean anything."
"Okay," Chloe ate her food. Avoiding conversation.
Logan was puzzled, "You don't wanna talk about it?"
"No. Your sex life doesn't concern me."
"Are you at least willing to talk about us?"
"Us?" she raised her eyebrows; pretending to be confused.
"A lotta shit has happened between us. You know we need to sort things through."
She sighed, "I'm really tired Logan. Emotionally, mentally. Can we just focus on Cassie right now?"
