This is the story of Raine Nocturnal, a young rebel living in a dying world. It is a polluted world of poisonous rivers and toxic soil where scarcity is used as a weapon to keep the enslaved populous in line. It is a cruel world, ruled through financial domination by Seven deadly corporations, each one owed more wealth than actually exists thanks to the ever growing debt of their workforce. It is a conquered world where you must submit to daily brainwashing through your Facepride ap if you don't want to explode in a Wratheon drone strike.
Raine refused to bow down in surrender to his capitalist overlords. Instead he was down on his hands and knees carefully studying his summoning circle for any imperfections. His keen eyes scanned across every rune, searching for minor flaws that might cause his gate to open in an unintended destination. The runes were precisely placed and perfectly replicated, the culmination of countless tireless nights spent reading through dusty old tomes and carving into stone. The result was a spiral of intricate runes filled with lilac resin, interspaced with a crystalline grid of protection.
The being that Raine sought is said to be a chaotic force of nature older than the concepts of good and evil. Legends speak of a power that can destroy entire cities in an instant, and a voice that corrupts every mind that it touches. Raine was just crazy enough to purposely seek out such a being and ask it to share its power and knowledge. He knew that his actions could bring about the end of world as we know it, but he would rather risk that fate than face the alternative.
With patient eyes Raine analyzed the final rune of his circle. It was complete and just in time, for soon the stars would be aligned. If he missed this chance there would be another, quite soon in fact. He'd worked out the answer to that question long ago, discovering that the chthonian star cluster cycle repeats every 42 days. He would have another chance but he could not afford to wait. The earth was decaying. Refugees from the unlivable zones were herded into cryogenic prisons for the victimless crime of not fitting in to the corporate vision for the future. He could not stand by and watch any longer.
Tonight was the night that Raine would begin to bring about the end of an era. Tonight was the night that he would contact the eye that he saw late at night, every night in the deepest depths of his slumber, staring down into his dreams. The hour was drawing close and the runes were thrumming with power that could only be seen in the minds eyes of those who know how to properly look. Even with his eyes shut tight Raine could see the ancient faescript words for "gate", "time", "space", "chaos", and "lust" written in a perpetual pattern on a three stranded spiral.
Raine sat down cross legged in front his circle and slowly breathed in five deep breaths to center himself. He focused his mind with every inhale, breathing in the magic of the ritual. With every exhale he breathed out all the distractions from his head. By the fifth inhale he was concentrating 100 percent on the ritual he was about to begin. By the fifth exhale there were no distractions left in mind.
With steady hands Raine struck a match and pressed it to the resin. A dark purple flame erupted forth and spread like dancing fire sprites, leaving a trail of flickering runes as they swirled and twirled across the stone. The mesmerizing flames unfurled in a spiraling pattern across the stone. In an instant all of the runes with lit with enchanting purple fire.
"
I will bring magic back to the world,
" Raine declared as his eyes began to glow with the flickering reflection of the eminent flames. "
to this world that has been conquered and shackled in chains of debt and fear. I will break those chains and make our rulers bow down on their knees. The force that lies beyond may rise and sow demise more devastating than mine eyes could ever fully realize, and I would bring about that one chaotic terminal sunrise before our cooperate overlords contrive to colonize the skies.
"
Raines eyes frosted over as the spell flowed through him and the fiery circle burned brighter. He began to chant in tune with the enchanting flames as he focused absolutely on the intention of opening a portal between dimensions. A flickering refraction of those flames through the crystals formed a disk of pink light above the opening gate, as Raine chanted on with conviction.
"
Our shard of reality flickers on the brink of destruction and the barrier is thin once more. I cast this circle round to penetrate the transdimensional veil and bring forth mythical forces to bring the rein of the dollar to an end. With these words of power I call to you in the depth of your eternal slumber. Here my voice oh lustful chaotic one and lend your power to complete the link from the other side.
"
Fiery runes started swirling about, slowly twisting and distorting into a spiral of enchanting flames that burned through the barriers between worlds. The air itself seemed to singe and disintegrate revealing a new reality beyond a veil of fire. The opening gate crackled with energy, drawing Raine's attention down to the swirling purple vortex. Through the flames he could faintly see a thick thundercloud all around.
Several seconds passed in silence before Raine sensed the presence of an otherworldly being. A thick slimy tendril, wider around than Raine at the waist, appeared to be reaching through the cloud on the other side of the gate. The writhing tendril pressed firmly against the barrier, and the crystals glimmered with power. It pulled back a few feet and slammed, THWAP, as if testing the strength of the spell.
Raine couldn't help but wonder what might happen if that tendril broke through. He lost himself in a daydream, fantasizing about all the sexy ways that could play out. The tendril could bind him and fuck him and fill him with thoughts of obedient submission as it wrapped around his body and his mind. He suddenly wanted so desperately to be helpless and bound at the hands of this majestic and powerful creature. He wanted his mind corrupted to serve the will of this eldritch being, but he knew that he needed control of his mind in order to liberate his world.
Suddenly the tendril pushed through the spell and coiled around Raine's waist. It pinned his arms in place and pointed a bulbous tip at his face. The Shock of this sudden invasion made Raine FREEZE up in abject terror. He could sense that the powerful tendril could easily crush his body or fuck his mind into obedient compliance. It looked like he was doomed to be killed or helplessly enthralled long before his efforts could ever hope to bring about any change. So desperately he'd wanted to hold onto his mind, but he knew he could not resist such an overwhelming force. He knew from the strength he felt in the tendril that a single squeeze is all it would take for this powerful being to snap his willpower apart like a brittle twig.
Several moments slipped by in stunned silence before Raine finally noticed the faint pink glow of magic around the tendril. He breathed an audible sigh of relief and tried to regain his composure. This being, this elder god, this whatever it was had accepted the terms of his warding spell. It agreed to be banished back to its home plane should it ever attempted to express any harm against him. And yet it still bound him, as if somehow sensing his intense submissive desires to be helpless in this moment.
"
You communicated telepathically.
" Raine stated, when he realized what had happened. "
Those weren't my desires I felt just now were they? That was your will imposed on my mind, and you read my thoughts about your desires. That's how you knew that you could wrap around me without being banished by my ward. Can you understand these words that I'm saying or do you speak only in desires shared directly with my mind?
"
As if in response Raine felt a desire to open a much larger gate. He desperately wanted to construct a worldwide network of interconnected summoning circles large enough to bring this magnificent being fully into this reality. Only then could he hear the true voice of chaos and bask in the unending ecstasy of submission to its words. He craved to become a point in that circle, focused absolutely on summoning this lustful entity to his world.
Such was the strength of the chaotic one's desires. They feel so real and powerful in the moment. It would have been so very easy to just give in and embrace those desires. But Raine had a strong mind, a powerful will, and a mission of his own. He had vowed to free his ravaged land from the hands of the self entitled elite who spent thousands of years destroying the earth in their efforts to take absolute control. Raine needed power to fight against them, and this tendriled being could grant that.
"
You can understand me,
" Raine reasoned correctly. "
But I can't hear you because your mouth cannot fit through my gate. You want me to help summon you to this plane, and I want to wield your strength to take down the ones that currently rule here. Can we form a pact? Will you share your knowledge and let me channel your power through my spells?
"
For a moment there was silence as the chaotic one considered the Raine's proposal. Meanwhile the young man wondered whether this being could sense how much he feared the day of its summoning. Could it tell that he only had the conviction open gates so long as he could use their strength to free the world from oppression? Did it know that If he actually managed to save the world then he had no intention of destroying it by completing the summoning? Would it still be interested in forming a pact if it knew? When the moment passed all those nagging doubts faded into insignificance.
