What an awful day it'd been. I had a big argument with my boss. He'd said he was right and I said I was...he won. I was on my way back to my empty flat as he'd given me the boot. The flat was empty because my girlfriend left to be with her parents. The church had, finally, gotten her.
What was a bloke to do? I was a nice guy, who liked to look after people, but I kept getting myself into bad situations. My wallet was stolen two weeks ago and I had recently gotten my motorbike back after dropping a valve and embedding it into the piston.
I looked up and saw a car veer across the road and slam into a brick wall, which fell down. I quickly pulled over and rushed to the car. The driver was having worse luck than me...he was trapped in the car!
There was petrol leaking all over the engine, flames were licking at the side of the car and it would probably explode any minute! I didn't know what to do until the guy inside moaned.
I grabbed the door and tried to pull it open but it was stuck, so I went to the passenger's side and smashed the window with a rock and leaned in. I unhooked his seatbelt, pulled him over and, somehow, got him out through the window.
We stumbled away to safety as the car exploded, throwing bits and pieces everywhere. We were lucky! I laid the guy on the road as the ambulance pulled up and the attendants jumped out. They took over, putting him on a stretcher to cart him to the hospital.
"You saved his life mate, good work!" the ambulance guy yelled as he put him in the ambulance and drove off.
'Well, I did something right
,' I thought.
I went home, not worrying about giving my name or anything...I wasn't a hero. Two weeks of not working was really getting to me, especially as the daytime TV was lousy. When there was a knock at the door, I flinched.
It was probably some religious nut trying to save me, again, or a greasy door to door salesman looking for the lady of the house to con her. I opened the door to find it was a courier with a parcel.
"Are you Rob Smith?" the courier asked as he thrust a pen and pad at me to sign.
I signed it and took the small parcel and found a note.
"You did me a favour two weeks ago when I was lost and then saved. I know you're lost, now, so this is to help you save yourself. It's the best gift I can give you for saving my life."
I opened the gift-wrapped parcel and found a strange looking necklace inside. It looked like it had precious stones in it so maybe it was valuable. I realised that, somehow, the man I'd pulled out of the car wreck had found out who I was, maybe from my rego plates on my bike.
'How nice!'
I thought.
I put the necklace around my neck because it was a gift and I wanted to wear it. I felt an enhanced appreciation of my surroundings, I felt dizzy and I had to sit down. I must've fallen asleep because, when I awoke, it was dark and I was hungry. I went out to my bike and that's when I noticed I could see really well in the dark...a little weird!
I went to the local pizza joint and ordered my usual. As I looked into Sandy's eyes, she suddenly told me she had an itchy bum and needed to scratch it.
Well, she didn't actually say it, she thought it! That's when I realised I'd developed some abilities while I'd slept. When I looked away, I heard nothing but if I looked into her eyes, I could hear her thoughts.
I had to sit down as it was a very scary occurrence. I was able to read minds! Not any mind but the mind of any person whose eyes I looked into. I sat there thinking about my new talent, and the possibilities, until I was called for the pizza.
'Give me a kiss for that, big boy,'
Sid thought as he handed me the pizza.
I nearly fell over as it seemed like he said it out loud!
'
Sid is gay?'
I thought.
I noticed everyone look at Sid and he turned red. Oh, dear! I can also let others hear what I'm thinking!
I took my pizza and went straight home. As I sat and chewed on my pizza, I worried about what was happening. If I could, in fact, read other people's minds, then it was a great weapon for me to recover my lost career and get revenge on the man who did this to me.
'What will I do if I broadcast my thoughts like I did in the pizza joint tonight, though? It could be a touch embarrassing. I'd better go out and test my powers after I've finished eating.'
I changed into something smooth and went to one of the top clubs in the city. I'd not had much luck getting in the door, in the past, but I was certain I would that time. I walked up to the door and looked the door bitch in the eyes.
'
What a poser!'
she thought.
'I have a ten inch dick so let me in.'
I thought back.
She looked startled, then smiled at me and nodded me through the door.
'Wow, it works!'
I thought.
I looked around the bar area, went to the girl behind the bar and smiled at her as I looked into her eyes. She was wearing a modest outfit that did nothing to hide her magnificent figure. Nice shaped tits and long legs, as I like.
'Oh, boy, what time do I get off here? I want to go home and sleep, I'm so tired,'
she thought.
"What will it be?" she asked.
"A beer. By the way, why are you so tired?"
"Why do you think I'm tired?" she asked.
'How did he know I'm tired? He better not know I fucked two guys all night!'
she thought.
'Any guys? Or special ones?'
I thought to her.
'What's he doing in here?'
she thought.
"What do you think you're doing?" she replied, startled.
