Ashlynn plopped down at the hotel bar. Her feet were killing her from standing at the convention she was attending. She ordered a drink and while doing so texted Zoe, her best friend.
As she ordered her second drink, someone sat down a chair away from her. She glanced at him out of the corner of her eyes. He was dressed in a black suit, sky blue button up shirt and black tie. She guessed that he had been at the convention as well. She heard him order a Guinness and could hear his British accent.
The man glanced over at Ashlynn. She was dressed up as well so he figured she was at the convention also. She had long dark brown hair, fit and had amazing tits from what he could see on the side.
"Are you doing the convention also?" he asked her. When she turned to face him, he could see how bright her sea blue eyes were.
"Yes. I'm never wearing heels to this kind of event ever again!" she laughed, "My feet are killing me."
"I'm glad I don't have that problem." he teased her. "I'm Simon by the way."
"Hi Simon. I'm Ashlynn."
For an older man, she thought he was incredibly good looking. He had blondish brown hair with a bit of silver in there. His eyes were stunning. Heterochromatic eyes, his outer rings were green blue in color with dark brown inner rings.
"Nice to meet you." he smiled at her.
"Nice to meet you too."
"What are you doing here at the convention?"
"Oh, I'm an event sales manager for our company. And you?"
"I'm a senior event sales manager."
"So we have very similar jobs then."
"Sounds like it. You like what you do?"
"Love it." Ashlynn said. "But sometimes I just want to get away from where I live and go somewhere new."
"The company I work for has an opening for an event manager at another branch in Clearwood. I was offered the job but it's a bit of a hike. I really don't want to move again. You should apply." He handed her the card of the Vision Vista, Clearwood HR director.
She took a look at the address. "That's about 2 hours from where I live now." She sighed. It'll get me away from my family, which is a plus, but I live fairly close to where I work now. Also I live near my best friend, Zoe. I keep an eye on her apartment when she's working. I don't know. I'm not sure I could afford an apartment near there.
"The apartment's no problem. We own several apartments in the area. One of the perks of the job." Simon said as he finished his drink and waved the bartender over.
"What are you drinking, love?" he asked.
"Whiskey sour."
"Whiskey sour for the lady and a Guinness for me."
"So are you enjoying the convention so far?" he asked her.
"Yes! I didn't realize there was going to be so much walking! This place is massive! She remarked laughing.
"Yeh they go all out when it comes to these conventions. It's mostly a marketing convention but it certainly draws a crowd."
"You work for, Vision Vista?" she inquired curiously.
"Yup. We have numerous branches all over. We do event planning, we have our own graphics/printing department, advertising, the whole bit. What about you?"
"I work for a small company called Event Horizon. We mostly just do event planning." She replied. Vision Vista were the big boys. EH was still mom and pop. "I'm here to make contacts with different businesses that can help our customers.
"Well, you just made a new contact." he replied, smiling at her. "So, does your friend, Zoe, work with you as well?"
"No, she's a stewardess. She gets around, in more ways than one." She laughed. "She's like my sister. She's really wild. Gets me in a good mood when I'm down."
"What do you like to do in your free time? Do you have any hobbies? Interests?" Simon asked.
"I love to travel. I like going to concerts. I love movies, music, travel, swimming, fashion, etc. Oh, and I like watching soccer, er...football." she giggled, blushing slightly. "What about you?"
Simon chuckled. "Pretty much the same as you. And I love to watch football as well. I'm a West Ham supporter. I also like to cook. What team do you support and what kind of music do you like?"
"I'm a Chelsea supporter."
"Oh, I'm sorry." he teased.
She gave him a look of mock anger.
Simon thought it was adorable.
"I like a lot of music but mostly listen to alternative, indie, industrial, some dancey stuff. I really like Interpol, The Killers, Rammstein, Killing Joke, etc. What about you?"
"A little bit of everything. Though I'm not fond of rap or country. Mostly rock, alternative bands like you. Some classic stuff too. I do like Interpol and it's nice to meet another Killing Joke fan!"
As they continued to talk and drink, the more comfortable they felt with each other. They even took a selfie together because they were having so much fun.
"Are you married?" he asked.
"No, not anymore." she sighed. "Divorced for about 8 months now." She wanted to tell him she had to leave because he would drink and do drugs and would become really violent. He mentally and physically abused her. It got so bad she had to call the police a few times. She wanted to tell him about the restraining order against him. His arrest. When he threatened to kill her when he got out of jail. He broke his restraining order shortly after he got out and was put back in jail again. She wanted to tell him about the way her mother betrayed her. Instead, she said, "It was a really ugly situation. We were together about 3 years, married for two. How about you?"
"I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm also divorced. About 2 years now. We're still friends though and on good terms. We have a son who we co-parent together. We just kind of grew apart at the end. She's remarried now and her husband is really cool and I know she's happy so that is all that matters. And we have a great kid. His name is Aiden. Here I have a picture."
Aiden was taller than Simon. He was lanky but fit. He had dark brown hair and gray blue eyes.
"How old is he?"
