Slowly raising my foot off the break at the change of the light, I took a breath. I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into and whether it might have been better to just stay home all weekend not doing anything. It was the weekend before Thanksgiving and my best friend had gone to Florida with his family. I had been invited to go with, but my work schedule refused to agree to my taking a long weekend off. Instead of settling with a boring weekend at home, I made the decision to drive to a hotel in Bumble-Fuck, Illinois to meet a friend.
My heart began to claw its way up my throat until I thought I was going to be sick. I repeatedly told myself aloud that I was absolutely insane for actually agreeing to meet Dennis. He wouldn't have been the first person I had met in person after first having a relationship online. The times before him had gone fairly well, no creeps. I figured I'd be an old hand at it by now.
I reviewed the directions I had printed, noting the fact that I was on the street of the hotel. Searching for his car, I immediately regretted having driven so many hours for this. Nonetheless, I had arrived. I fumbled in my purse for my phone, my hands actually shaking I was so scared. It rang twice before Dennis picked up and agreed to meet me outside.
The minute I saw him my anxiety vanished. Not only was he a million times more adorable in person than on his cam, but also his laugh and smile were the most infectious thing I had ever experienced. Of course, as was expected, my greeting consisted of a hug.
