I don't want the title to be less flattering but we are getting older. My wife and I have been married for 41 years. We've raised three kids and have spent all of our adult life in the public eye as educators. Since we worked in the public eye our social life was fairly conservative. We've been very careful about excessive drinking or really anything else that jeopardizes our image as role models.
We've been retired for seven years now and I've approached the topic of "loosening up" a little and letting our hair down before it's too late. I've tried to talk her into trying couples play but she is very resistant and thinks we are too old.
We've taken care of ourselves and are in decent shape. Our exercise routine has changed over the years, from being runners to daily walks or walking on the treadmill and light weights. Judy still has an attractive body. Her 36C cup has changed to 38D thanks to having three kids. We both are only 10 pounds over what we weighed years ago so we are proud about that. A month or so ago I raised the topic of playing around again. As I've aged I've lost stamina. Our sex life is still pretty active but the duration is short. I have to add a tragic turn to the story for some needed background. A young man I coached some twenty years ago in football and track lives in a neighboring town. His name is Nathan and he is a successful CPA. We've had Nathan and his wife over for dinner countless times in the last 10 years. Nathan lost his Dad when he was very young and I kind of "adopted" him if you will. We are in contact quite a bit and have run across each other's path often.
The sad tragic event I mentioned was that his wife was killed in a traffic accident. We've worried about Nathan because he lost his Dad when he was so young and his wife before he turned 40. They were never able to have children so he is now all alone.
The last time we talked was about three weeks ago when we met for drinks. I had a couple of errands to run and met him at a local bar where he lived. We talked for several hours and he really opened up to me. Since his wife was killed he has really withdrawn. He hasn't been with a woman since and has no plans to change.
We pretty much left things that way and I told him it was time to "get back in the saddle." The only way to get over his grief was to engage socially again.
I went home that night and updated Judy on how Nathan was doing. She was sorry to hear that. Nathan is a strapping guy. He was a very good football player and kept up with his physical activity. He still runs and lifts weights and is very fit. He's also an attractive guy, and I know he would have plenty of suiters if he gave it a try.
Nathan called me about a week later and wanted to talk again. We met at another bar in his hometown. The topic eventually got back to his going out and finding another lady friend.
He said, "I just can't right now. T
he wheels were turning in my head so I told him about my lack of stamina and that I had entertained the idea of couples play. I thought it would be fun and would spice things up for us. I told Nathan that I would let Judy go first and solo if she was interested. She just rolls her eyes at me and says that no one would be interested in an old lady! I stopped talking and let the topic sink in for a short time.
Nathan said, "You guys are really thinking of playing around?"
I said, "Well I am but she thinks I'm crazy and that we're too old."
Nathan said, "She sure doesn't look old and has taken very good care of herself."
He chuckled and said, "I'm sure plenty of guys wouldn't mind playing games with her!"
I became perplexed because I didn't know how to proceed. I felt a romp in the sack with Nathan and Judy would be perfect. I knew him, trusted him, and he had a great relationship with us. The crazy thing is that it might be just the thing to get him back out there. I sat there unable to figure out how to proceed. The topic changed to other things and then Nathan brought up our desire for couples play again.
That was my narrow window to proceed.
