Laurie and I have known each other for 15 years. Started dating when my ex wife was out of town with three of my kids, and she (ex) hadn't had sex with me for nine years. Hadn't slept in the same bed with me for seven. She (ex) broke her ankle and just started sleeping on the couch, even after it had healed. It was 'more comfortable.' Anyway, I digress.
Over the 15 years, I've met a million of Laurie's friends, be them friends from high school, co-workers, or customers. Never have I ever been attracted to any of them.
Until about a year ago. She introduced me to a woman who was a customer of hers. I had come down to her store one Saturday morning and met this woman. The first thing I said to her (because Laurie had been talking about her with me for a few weeks/months) was "Laurie didn't tell me you were gorgeous." She laughed. What I don't think that she knew at the time, I was being serious.
Over the next year, I would see her occasionally if I was at the store at the same time. Met her kids, etc.
One of the first things Laurie asked me after I first met her was "What do you think of X?" I said "She's quite beautiful. I find her quite attractive." I think Laurie was taken aback a little bit. I'd never said that about anyone else. So from then on, she would say to me "So, you have feelings for X?" The first time she said it "I said yes, actually. But I would never do anything with her, without you being involved." I've found that honesty is the best policy.
