Cheating On My Girlfriend with My Wife
Their kids had grown up and moved away. Matt and Freda Young's kids were busy with their own families and lived too far away for frequent visits. Matt and Freda had lots of time together now there was an empty nest. They found out something pretty quickly. They were dull.
"What do you want to do tonight?"
"I don't know. What about you?"
"Where do you want to eat tonight?"
"I don't care."
"What movie would you like to see?"
"They're all the same to me."
Sex together was enjoyable but not as fun as masturbation. They could have sex with movie stars when they masturbated. Neither of them was movie star material.
"You want to have sex?"
"Guess so, if you do."
Finally, they sat down at the kitchen table, each with a cup of coffee in their hands. Actually Freda had a cup of milk with some coffee added. Matt spoke first, "We just don't have the spark anymore, do we?"
Freda said, "Heck, I don't think we even have the flint to make a spark."
Both chuckled. Matt remarked, "So, where do we go from here?"
Freda responded, "I guess we could go to counseling, but that's expensive and takes a lot of time and effort. I'm not sure I could get motivated to do it."
"That's what I thought, too." Matt agreed.
Several moments of silence passed.
Freda interjected, "We have had a lot of good years, haven't we?"
Matt added, "And we raised some wonderful children. I guess we did some things right."
Freda asked, "What do you think about making a new start?"
Matt responded, "You mean with our marriage?"
Freda offered, "Please don't take this wrong, but I was thinking about a new marriage with new people. I still love you, but I am not sure I am as IN love with you as much as I was. We are still good friends and I enjoy being with you, but I have wondered if there was someone else out there, for both of us, that we could recapture that feeling we had when we first got married. Please don't be upset at me for saying so?"
Matt laughed slightly, "We really have been around each other so long our minds are on the same track. That's kind of what I have been thinking but have been afraid to mention it to you. You're definitely attractive enough to interest men, even younger men. Remember how you got hit on at my last office Christmas party? And that was with me there. Think of how they might have behaved if I hadn't been there."
"I always look better to men when they've had a few drinks in them. It was flattering although some of the men were married and that made me pity their wives. And, hey, you are not such a slouch yourself. You could stand to lose a few pounds and tone up some muscles. But I think there would be women after you if you were free."
Matt reflected, "Well, we both have about the same salary and pension. It wouldn't take much to get even on the cars. The biggest thing would the house."
Freda asked, "Are we really talking about divorcing?"
Matt told her, "I thought that was what you were talking about."
"I guess I was. Just hearing the word 'divorce' sends a chill down my spine. It says 'failure' and I don't think we've been failures."
"I agree, dear. But we don't have to be like others who have messy divorces and wind up hating each other. We can just split everything 50/50 and go our separate ways. We'll still see each other when we visit the kids for holidays."
"Okay, Matt, what do we do about the house?"
"I think we should sell this house. It's too big for just the two of us anyway. We could take the profits, split the money, and each find our own place. You might want to just rent some place. It could be that there's a man you want who already has a house you can move into."
"Matt, this conversation feels so weird. We're talking about divorcing like we were discussing which color the new carpet should be."
"I know. I used to think the only way we would divorce is if I caught you with another man. Believe me, that would not have been as emotionless as this."
Freda laughed, "You thought I might cheat on you with another man?"
"Not really, but many times I marveled at how lucky I was to have married you. I knew other men had to see the same beauty, intellect, and caring I did. It was easy to get jealous. But you NEVER gave me any cause to make me think you were unfaithful."
"Thank you, sweetheart. I have felt the same way about you."
More moments of thoughtful reflection ensued.
"So, do we contact Darren about writing something up?"
"I don't think he handles domestic cases, Matt."
"You're right. He can recommend someone though."
Freda added, "We need to inform the kids and our friends, so they won't think there is adultery or animosity involved. We've just agreed to part and still be friends."
And so, the Youngs had an agreement written up and both signed. Even though there was no disagreement over the terms, a 90-day wait was required for the divorce to be finalized. When they looked up at each other after they had signed, they smiled at each other, but both were a little sad. It was the end of an era.
Matt had the house put up for sale. He and Freda looked for suitable smaller places to rent. Until then they stayed in the same house and the same bedroom. They still had sex on occasion. Both figured that each time of having sex might be their last, so they put more into the effort than usual. Both complimented the other on some of the best sex ever. Both were not lying. It was hard not for them to cry afterwards, though.
The house had sold, and both moved into apartments in different parts of town. Although neither had brought the subject up, both had assumed sex was no longer part of the arrangement. Adjusting to life without one another was difficult. Now apart, each began to realize how much the other had done which now became his/her own responsibility. Perhaps the greatest difference was when one wanted to tell or ask the other about something that had come up during the day, there was no one to tell. Several times they had picked up the phone to talk to the other just to hang up as the matter was considered too trivial. They each didn't want to complicate the other's search for a new partner.
Matt got an interesting surprise as soon as he made it known at work that he was divorcing. His secretary, Sherry, asked, "Are you kidding? I never thought that would happen. Any chance of reconciliation?"
"No. But there is not any bitterness. We've just grown apart and decided to give each other the chance to find someone else before we get too old."
"Just wanted to be sure." She turned and instead of leaving his office, locked the door. Sherry went to in front of his desk and declared, "If the only way I can get you to go out with me is to resign my position, I am doing so right now. My feelings about you over the years have grown from respect to love. I promised myself that if by some miracle you were ever available, I would go after you with all I have to offer. So, do I resign or what?"
"Wow, this is a surprise. I don't know what to say."
"Please say something. I'm beginning to feel like a fool standing here with my heart on my sleeve."
"I had not really thought about dating yet. I didn't think there would be that many women interested. Least of all you."
Sherry started crying, "I guess I just made a fool of myself for nothing."
"No, absolutely not. I would be honored to date you. You're beautiful and very talented." He smiled, "And incredibly sexy."
"No, I'm not. I'm too chubby but I do have big tits and I am a wild monkey in bed. I can prove both as soon as you're ready."
"Let me find out for sure what our options are under company policy. I don't want you to resign as my secretary nor do I want to miss the chance to go out with you."
"Is that the only thing keeping you from taking me right here, right now?"
"Well there is one other thing."
