The alarm went off at seven o'clock. As she tapped the snooze button the realisation of what had happened the night before all came flooding back to her. Those ten minutes between the buzzers were anxiety-ridden times, worrying about all sorts of ramifications. After the third round of irritating beeps, she broke the covers and went about her morning. An 8.30 am start sounded easier when you didn't sleep terribly well after getting caught perving on your neighbour. Showered and dressed in plenty of time, there was a knock on the door, Dani checked her watch, there were twenty minutes left before she was due to start, so nervously she answered the door.
Slowly opening the door she was one to one with the neighbour from the night before. The blood drained from her face, her legs almost buckled, opening the door fully and motioning the visitor in. 'Hey nosey neighbour, how's it goin?' the Australian accent was unmistakable. She continued. 'I'm Jenna, hope you enjoyed the show last night, great to have another new girl about the place.'
Dani stammered, 'Oh, yeah, really sorry about that,' Jenna walked on in, travel mug in hand, before sitting on the couch.
'Yeh, nah worries,' commented the Aussie. Danielle was dumbstruck, confused in so many ways but eager to make up for the previous faux pas.
'I really want to apologise for last night, it really isn't something I've ever done before,' Dani agonised. 'It's just weird, all is new here, oh I'm Danielle by the way, and I just don't want any awkwardness between us, I hope you can accept this apology.'
Jenna was smiling the whole time Dani was stuttering and spluttering through her apology. 'Listen, babes, it's no problem, you'll see a lot more than that around here. I'm on earlies with you so Aggie told me to call you before going in'. Danielle wondered what she meant by 'see a lot more than that'. The thoughts were quickly forgotten about when they began chatting about work.
