We drove down the highway in her bright yellow car with the windows down the music blasting. I was used to running away from home but I had never done it with a complete stranger before. My youth made me naive.
She pulled over on the side of the road, cars passing us at 80 mps gently rocking the car. She grabbed my face and pulled me in for a hard kiss. This made me uneasy. I was unaccepting of her romantic gestures.
Hilary was 7 years older than me, which didn't feel like a lot but then again I was only 18 and had no idea how much more mature a 25 year old woman was. I hated that name. In hindsight I hated a lot of things about her but I was so desperate to get away from my previous life.
We turned onto a quiet street. It was late now and the street lights were a dim yellow color making the houses look like they were covered by a smoggy mist.
