It was the early hours of the night in Tokyo, Japan.

It had been a crazy adventure.

It had started on New Years Eve, when Shadow Knight's sister Rachel Kishi and his adopted daughter Kairi Kishi were both kidnapped by the Ninjazons, agents of the immortal Warlord known as The Shogun. A genocidal madman from the Feudal Era who desired to wipe out any and all non-Japanese races and people...and anyone who wasn't pure blooded Japanese as well. He had attempted to do so by launching a terror campaign with a biological weapon, a Virus that would wipe out anyone who wasn't Japanese, one that was created and programed by nanites from an Alternate Future provided to him by the Time Breakers to cause chaos in the present time.

He called it the Red Sun Virus, and it was as deadly as it sounded.

The villain had test fired it upon a city in China as revenge for the invasion attempts by the Mongols.

Chameleon, the time traveling defender of the time stream who looked like a humanoid lizard man in a trench coat but who could shapeshift his appearance and form to fit in no matter what era he was in, had managed to procure a remedy to this virus from an alternate future and brought it back to the past for SLEET to mass produce to combat this threat.

As it turned out, the Virus was only one part of the archvillains master plan. He also planned to find the hidden kingdom of the mythical Princess Kaguya-Himme and obtain her powers so that no one would ever be able to stop him after Shadow Knight had beaten him the first time, sending him to what he had thought had been a watery grave in the waters of the Pacific.

The bastard had not only survived, but had walked the long way home across the floor of the ocean. His immortality and kinetic absorption and strength enhancement given to him centuries ago by the Tree of Life had saved him.

But while he searched for this treasure, he had also enacted a revenge scheme that had been several years in the making. As it turned out, Rachel was the one who had kidnapped Kairi. She had been unknowingly taking a mind control drug for years in her medicinal tea and secretly indoctrinated into being one of The Shogun's Ninjazons. She had been brainwashed into thinking her brother, Kagae Kishi, had been the one who had murdered their sister Mariko and raped her that fateful night instead of one of The Brain Of Crime's hitmen...the Black Alley cat Murderer, Blackie Nelson.

The same man who became the supervillain Dark Shadow, the killer of Kairi's family.

Believing these lies, Rachel had nearly killed her own brother who had fallen into the trap laid out for him by his Archenemy. Thankfully, Spectress, who had been assigned to investigate Yakuza ties to the Viral attack in China had learned about the attempt on her estranged childhood friends life and had come to his rescue. Reconciling after years of being apart after their mission in Dubai had ended badly between them, the two teamed up to track down Kairi and find the Lost city before The Shogun could.

In the underground city The Shogun managed to poison both Kairi and Spectress with the Virus before challenging Shadow Knight to brave the deadly traps and puzzles defending the resting place of the Moon Empress herself.

A great battle ensued between The Shogun's forces and S.L.E.E.T which ended with The Shogun being infected with his own virus, learning to his disgust and disbelief that he wasn't pure blooded and buried under a mountain of rubble.

Hopefully this time, he was gone for good.

Rachel had been broken free of her brainwashing as well by that point.

But things hadn't ended as cleanly as everyone would have hoped. While the world had been saved and Kairi and Spectress had both been given the cure. Shadow Knight in an attempt to motivate Spectress to fight for her life against the virus... had kissed her. Revealing to her how much she meant to him. This had the unfortunate side affect of infecting him as well, wrecking havoc with his healing ability and shadow powers, and putting him at a severe disadvantage against his enemy. Ultimately leaving him a nearly dying, bleeding, wounded mess after the battle despite coming out the victor.

He had been given the cure, and been taken here to the Tokyo SLEET medical wing in the Japanese chapter of the world wide counter terrorism and espionage agency.

Right now, the enigmatic Chameleon and Rachel Kishi walked down the hall towards the medical wing of the Japanese S.L.E.E.T base.

They were checking up on Shadow Knight and how the doctors were faring trying to heal him.

The two of them made their way down the hall, and into the room where the Healer machine was located.

The machine was a H shaped in design, with a long glass tube running horizontally between two energy emitters. Inside the tube was a comfy yet also firm medical bed.

The machine was designed to emit a type of M-Radiation that would cause rapid healing and regeneration in afflicted subjects placed within that capsule. The shutters around the glass would close when the machine was active.

Right now, the shutters were closed.

She couldn't see inside to know if her brother was okay or not.

Commander Arcane, Hardcastle, and the Japanese commander of SLEET were already there, waiting for the machine to do its work mending the wounds her brother had sustained during his battle with The Shogun.

She had no problem walking in there without wearing her Ninjazon mask, as far as anyone outside of Commanders Arcane and Hardcastle knew...she was just a rich American woman who got swept up in this insanity as part of The Shoguns genocidal plot who Shadow Knight had tracked down and rescued after being recruited by SLEET to do so.

No one else in the room knew that was her brother who was under that fright mask.

"Miss Kishi, Chameleon..." Commander Hardcastle greeted, "Thank you for joining us."

"I just wanted to make sure the man who saved my life is okay," Rachel Kishi said to the female commander of SLEET, "He looked pretty bad when you wheeled him in here on that gurney."

"He was" the head TechNet doctor stepped in, "a few minutes later and we might not have been able to help him, and if Spectress hadn't injected him with the cure Chameleon provided to SLEET for that strain of the Red Sun Virus...then you would be paying for his funeral flowers and casket Miss Kishi instead of thanking him. She saved his life."

"She did...more than once..." Rachel Kishi nodded in acknowledgment "I guess even the Shadow Knight needs saving sometimes."

She remembered when Spectress had come to her brothers rescue during the trap in Skytree Tower the other night. How she had nearly kicked hers and the assembled Ninjazons asses to protect him when he was vulnerable. The Shogun had called her a 'Kitsune' because of her beauty and deadly prowess with her bio-suit's combat capabilities which were rather a lot like the Venom symbiote in those Spider-Man comics her brother used to read as a kid.

"You didn't remove the mask, did you?" Rachel Kishi asked concerned.

"Didn't have to" the TechNet doctor assured her, "the shadow knight's condition did not warrant us removing it. This machine could fix that slash cut on his face without having to remove it. Although I have to admit...we were tempted to take it off to find out who it is under that mask. But protocol is protocol and orders are orders. We're doctors, not spies."

"Is he still in there?" Chameleon asked.

"They both are" The head TechNet doctor answered.

"They?" Commander Arcane asked in response, quirking his head in question.

The head TechNet doctor pushed back the brim of his glasses and gathered his words.

"The woman who came in with him, one of your Agents Commander, she had some severe bruising around her trachea and some minor injuries, nothing that warranted the use of 'The Healer' machine. But she refused to leave his side, so we threw them both in."

The three commanders, Chameleon and Rachel both did a double take and gawked at the head TechNet doctor in disbelief.

"You threw them in that thing...together? Are you insane?!" Rachel declared.

"It's perfectly safe, we've done it millions of times before." the head TechNet doctor explained, confused as to what everyone's problem was.

"A man and woman who have just been through hell are now with one another in a soundproof, tightly enclosed space, with total privacy...and you can't put two and two together as to why this could be a problem?" Chameleon asked in disbelief, "I thought you were doctors, not dunces!"

The head doctor did a double take, but then realized what Chameleon was insinuating and shook his head in disagreement.

"No way, not a chance, we would have noticed that!" the head TechNet doctor shook his head in disagreement, walking over to the control panel of The Healer machine.

"We've been monitoring their heartbeats, their respiration, their blood level, etc...and as you can see, they are perfectly normal. They aren't even moving, so they could be just relaxing or sleeping, they've been through a hell of a thing after all. Anyone would be exhausted. Hell, we can listen in on them if we wanted to, with this microphone button. We'll have it set for listening in, not for talking. You will hear for yourself, they aren't doing anything but relaxing while the healing radiation of the machine does its work."

The head TechNet doctor flipped the switch.

Instead of the sounds of relaxation, the doctor was sure they would hear if they listened in...the sounds that they heard coming from both Kagae and Gwen's voices inside the tube were more...orgasmic in audio nature coming through the speakers.

"Oh god!" Chameleon's face palmed, "That is worse than walking in on your parents!"

Turning a shade of red, the head TechNet doctor flicked the 'listening in' switch from 'on' to 'off' in a flash.

"Ahem...well..." he stammered sheepishly, "as you can hear, the machine is keeping them relaxed while also tending to their painful injuries. They are still in obvious pain. I think we should give them a...few more hours?"

"I think it's time you and your staff had a tea break, a LONG one. We could all use some tea...with sake!" the Japanese commander of SLEET declared, trying to change the uncomfortably awkward situation.

"I'll take mine with a bunch of brain bleach to wash out that image the good doctor just painted a clear audio picture for us," Rachel said under her breath, turning to leave with the others.

"Turn the lights off when you leave," Commander Arcane said to the TechNet medical staff.

Rachel and Chameleon left the Healer room alongside Commanders Arcane and Hardcastle.

Although she was squicked out by the whole thing just like Chameleon was, Rachel couldn't help but shrug and look over at Chameleon "Can't say I'm surprised."

"Me either" Chameleon agreed.

"It was bound to happen sometime!" Commander Arcane declared.

"Spectress and Shadow Knight?" Rachel Kishi inquired about what he was referring to.

"No..." Commander Arcane corrected, "Someone unconventionally using the Healer tube."

Commander Hardcastle then looked over her shoulder and smirked, adding to her husbands statement "And yes...Shadow Knight and Spectress."

"My only regret is that we should have thrown them in the tank sooner! All that pent-up sexual tension that those two have towards one another...we might not get that tank back till tomorrow!" Commander Arcane said in response.

The four of them laughed as they walked away down the hall leaving Shadow Knight and Gwen alone in the healer tank.

Inside the healing tube, however, enclosed away from prying eyes by the shutters and bathed in purple-tinted light, Kagae and Gwen were quite clothed, and not having sex at all.

Gwen's bodysuit was still in its combat mode form and not its naked "seduction mode" and Kagae was wearing medical boxer shorts...his mask lying in the far corner of the tube.

Nothing had been going on between them.

They had been merely pretending to be, they had played a trick to keep the shutters of the healing pipe closed so they could have some time alone with themselves without the world interfering now that the machine had healed their wounds.

They had been using Kagae's shadow powers to eavesdrop in on the conversation outside before playing their ruse when the doctor made his move for the microphone switch...a ruse which apparently had worked.

"They are gone, we're alone now," Kagae said to Gwen who lay beside him in the tube.

"Good!" Gwen declared, pushing herself up so she was sitting upright inside the tube which barely had enough clearance for her to do so, while Kagae scooted away from her "I need a break from all that we just went through without SLEET trying to send me off to Kathmandu or somewhere else for whatever reason."

"Told you that they would leave the room and us alone if they heard that kind of noise coming from us," Kagae said to Gwen inside the healer machine's containment tube.

"Do you ever get tired of being right?" Gwen looked over her shoulder at him, smiling playfully.

"Yes," Kagae answered emphatically.

"I can't believe they feel for that, your sister included!" Gwen scoffed in disbelief, sitting up to stretch her arms "They are practically saying they are fine with the idea of us using a SLEET healing machine as a love hotel...and we aren't even doing or planning to do anything. Pfft...Like anything kinky was going to happen in this tube between us just because were all alone in a tight space! That's straight out of a bad romance movie!"

"Yeah, imagine that!" Kagae agreed, while secretly admiring Gwen's back from where he lay before sitting up himself "Now that they are gone, how about I shadow-walk us out of here, I grab my hat and cloak and we play hooky for the night? At least, I think it's nighttime. My shadow vision doesn't exactly show me if it is or not while we're inside this thing...and it feels like we were both out of it for a quite a while before waking up a moment ago. If it is night, that'd be nice. Tokyo is very lovely and lively at night I hear."

"Just hold on Kagae," Gwen said to him, her expression now serious "I want to talk with you about something first."

"What do you want to talk about?" Kagae asked with genuine curiosity.

"About that kiss?" Gwen said, getting straight to the point.

Kagae scoffed, of course, she wanted to talk about that. "You never were one for beating around the bush, were you?"

Gwen then became stern, "That was very brave and very stupid of you! You infected yourself. You nearly got yourself killed because of it!"

"People always do crazy things when they are afraid" Kagae answered unapologetically, looking up at her with sincerity "and I was so afraid I was going to lose you. I needed you to fight the virus to stay alive, so I gave you motivation."

"I can understand that. But...What I want to know is why. You could have just told me to fight to survive. Why did you kiss me?" Gwen pressed again.

"Why do YOU think I kissed you?" Kagae asked.

"I...I don't know. I... think... I know, but I want to be sure. I mean...Kagae...why? Why would you kiss me? Why endanger yourself like that? What exactly am I to you?" Gwen asked, genuinely confused and curious at the same time.

He had told her that he loved her before he had passed out following the battle and escape from the collapsing underground dome...but part of her believed that this had been said by him out of delirious blood loss and enduring the excruciating pain of both his sustained wounds and the effects of the Red Sun Virus.

She wanted to hear him say it again, and she feared that she was getting the wrong idea in doing so.

Kagae probably didn't even remember saying those words to her, and if he did, she knew he wouldn't admit to saying them.

So she was stunned when Kagae reached forward and ran his hand through her hair in a soothing manner, the same way he had when they were children.

He looked into her eyes with warmth and sincerity.

"You are everything I want in a woman. You are smart, funny, courageous, and caring, and you have a dark side like mine and you use it to serve the light like I do. You make me feel alive Gwen. Like I'm not alone anymore, that I have a friend who is also like no other friend that I have. That's what you are to me, Gwen. It's the same way I felt for Raven, and I feel it just as strongly for you when I'm around you. I don't know if it's love, or it is just me being a very lonely man longing for genuine female companionship. All I know is that if I had lost you as well. If you had died, I would never have forgiven myself and gone out of my mind with grief. I swear to God I would have." Kagae said earnestly, bearing his soul to her.

"...Oh," Gwen said simply.

Her tone was of a dull surprise, but in contrast, her face showed shocked disbelief upon hearing him say this.

She was gob smacked.

She didn't know what to say.

If she did, she couldn't find the courage to say it.

Despite what she had felt and the thoughts she had when he had kissed her back in Tsuin, now that she was here with Kagae in this enclosed space...Gwen was at a loss for what to do or say.

Kagae had just declared his love for her...twice.

And as much as she wanted to say she felt the same, fear kept her mouth shut.

Of all the men she had been with and seduced, this was the only one who truly mattered to her and whom of which she couldn't stand to lose as a dear friend...because he was someone who she saw as more than a friend.

She had felt that way about him for years, but never had the courage to admit or act on those feelings, and it had resulted in both her and Kagae falling out and not seeing each other again for several years.

She was tired of being and feeling alone, living in a world of deception and lies, engaging in romantic relationships that were nothing more than means to ends, she didn't feel anything for the men and women she had seduced and slept with in her line of work as a SLEET agent.

They werent even ships that passed in the night.

She treated and viewed them the same way they viewed her, as something that could be exploited in order to satisfy her desires and goals and then be discarded when she got what she wanted from them...she was like a sexual vampire.

They didn't mean anything to her, and she meant nothing to them.

That had never bothered her since the men and women she had hypnotized or seduced into her clutches were always bad people, and she enjoyed the feeling of making these sociopath's puppets in her hands...but she always felt envious of real couples and curious about what it felt like to be with someone who truly loves you.

Only one man made her feel that way...and he was looking right at her with those glowing red eyes of his, making her heart pound in her chest with his earnest words.

Kagae was the only one who knew who she was, accepted her flaws, and made her feel alive inside...and that's why she loved him.

She truly loved him.

She had always loved him, even when they were children and didn't know what love was he meant the world to her...but now she had the chance to act on those feelings.

She knew she had to say something, or she risked losing him again, maybe forever.

That scared her more than telling him how she felt about him did.

Enough that it started to loosen her tongue.

"Kagae...I..." she tried to say to him how she felt.

"Do you wonder?" Kagae asked her earnestly.

"Wonder about what?" Gwen asked curiously.

"What if we hadn't been pretending a moment ago? What would it have been like?" Kagae answered.

"Kagae..." Gwen scoffed, "don't be silly."

"Do you want to find out?" Kagae answered, giving her a interested look.

Gwen gave Kagae a double take, she was surprised to hear such a question come from him of all people.
