To start the "Can You Take Five" TLR contest, Vivian drew the number five. This meant that she would be competing in the third contest of round one on Bed 'A'. There were twenty-four pink numbered tickets for the female contestants to draw from. The first sixteen numbers comprised of the women competing in round one, and those drawing numbers seventeen to twenty-four were the eight ladies designated to having a bye to the second round. Those first round ladies drawing odd numbers would be assigned Bed 'A' and their opponents drawing even numbers would be competing on Bed 'B'.
The men's blue tickets were also numbered one to twenty-four where the first eighteen numbered slips were in one bowl. The remainder were in the second bowl. Thus, those six men who had indicated they had completed a recent coitus before the start of the contest, drew from the bowl with six tickets, and the rest of the men drew from the other bowl. Thus those men drawing from the bowl with only six tickets, plus the two men drawing numbers seventeen and eighteen did not participate in the first round but were called upon twice in the second round.
The numbers for the men represented the order that they would participate. The actual sequence went as follows. Sixteen men were needed in the first round for the sixteen lady competitors; so those men with blue slips numbered one to sixteen would be utilized. In round two thirty-two men were required so the round started with those eight men numbered seventeen to twenty-four, followed by the round one men and the round ended with the second appearance of the last eight numbered men. Round three required all twenty-four men and round four again required only sixteen men so those participating in round one were the same ones participating in round four. In round five twenty men were needed so those holding numbers thirteen to sixteen did not participate.
In summary, the men who drew tickets one to twelve participated in every round. And as indicated those holding numbers thirteen to sixteen missed the last round whereas those with numbers seventeen to twenty-four missed the first round and the fourth round but participated twice in the second round.
The chalkboards were filled out with the pertinent status of the results of the drawings. The board behind he table consisted of three columns. The left column listed in order the names of the men drawing the first twelve numbers. The middle column listed the men drawing the numbers thirteen to twenty-four. And the column on the right listed the women drawing numbers seventeen to twenty-four, representing the ladies who had a bye to the second round. The blackboard at the head of Bed 'A' listed in order the eight women who drew the odd numbers from one to fifteen, while the board for Bed 'B' contained the eight women drawing the even numbers from two to sixteen.
Under the name of each male participant who had drawn the numbers one to twelve were the notations R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5. In the middle column the first four names had the notations R1, R2, R3 and R4. The last eight had notations of R2a, R2b, R3 and R5. Those notations reflected the participation by rounds of each man. The plan was to cross out or erase a notation once the gentleman in question had completed his designated participation for the corresponding assignment.
After each contest in round one, the name of the losing woman was erased since she was eliminated from further competition. Her name then was replaced by a woman having a bye in the first round. The designated opponents to the winners of round one corresponded with the number drawn. For example the woman who drew number seventeen would face off in round two against the first round winner between number one and two.
At start of each round, Kristina Vargas as chief judge of the contest would announce particulars of each contestant. Then she would repeat the rules of the contest to each competitor, so that there was no ambiguity. In Vivian's case Kristina Vargas' introduction went like this:
"In Bed 'A' this time we have a newcomer attending her very first orgy here at the TLR. Let's cheer on Vivian Laaning. Now one might think that for a first timer she might not have the necessary experience to adequately compete in our contest. But I'm advised by Jed Baxter, who personally sponsored Vivian's membership that she might be a ringer. The audience had a good laugh at Kristina's saucy observation. Then they cheered Vivian, chanting her name. After the good natured cheering died down, Kristina described Vivian's opponent as such:
"Vivian's adversary in Bed 'B' is a well liked local girl, Ms Sally Browning. As most of you know, Sally along with Pamela Rose were the first recipients of the coveted TLR's gold plated body chain which is proudly adorning her waist.
