Chapter 16, Part 1

The Week before the New Year's Eve Party

MONDAY

"We should not have kept them up so late," Dawn said after Amy and Sam left for work.

"Sam wasn't up that late, she just wanted to get up early and go swimming, I don't know how late you and Amy were up."

"Amy wanted to talk a long time, it will just be a long day for them since she is working a twelve. I think when they get home they will probably crash."

"I think you can get them here, just call Sam and tell him the new lights stopped working, he will come so they will be working at the party."

I hung up the phone wondering what all these women were planning.

"Dawn," I said as I walked back to the kitchen.

"Yes?"

"That was John."

"No, we wanted to know why Carol was talking to him about having sex with other people, what's going on?"

"I told you that you might get questions after Christmas. They all may be having the same talk we had."

"Are you planning an orgy for New Year's?"

"Dawn, you were right, I had email from almost everyone, Sam also called and asked a lot of questions before I told him we were having trouble with the lights. He and Olivia will be here tomorrow about lunchtime."

"He offered to bring Olivia before I even asked, have you two already been talking?"

"Oh they are going to be okay, I have taken care of them."

"Don't forget Nancy may be coming by Thursday to drop some things off and she will be here early Friday."

"By the way, you haven't told me about this scholarship thing you have planned," Dawn asked.

"Let me just say that Nancy's girls are going to have an opportunity to raise some money for school."

"I'm not sure, we will just have to play some of it by ear."

We all loaded up our plates and moved to the table to sit.

"Drinks?" I asked before I sat down.

Everyone wanted beer to go with lunch. I grabbed beers from the kitchen and returned to the table and sat down.

"Did you all have a good Christmas?" Olivia asked.

"Yes we did, it was different having someone else here with us," Dawn told Olivia.

"Did Amy and Sam enjoy it?" Olivia asked.

"We all had a great time," Dawn said with a slight giggle.

"I bet you did," Olivia said with a big smile.

"Where are they today?" Sam asked.

"Amy worked a twelve yesterday and is working one today so she can be off Thursday and Friday to help Dawn, she has Sam working with her so she will see what it is like to work a long day," I told him.

"Too bad," Sam said and got an elbow from Olivia.

"Some other time Sam," Dawn said boldly.

We talked and had another beer before we finished lunch.

"James, why don't you and Sam get started, I don't want them to be here all day, unless they have time," Dawn said.

"We have time, let me help you clear the table," Olivia said as her and Dawn got up.

"Let's see what we can find James," Sam said as he got up.

Sam and I went outside so he could watch the lights. Nothing happened of course. Then he suggested we go in and check.

When we got to the computer room Sam said, "Let me check all the wires."

"Did you get them for her?" Sam asked.

"Afraid not, when she goes shopping I just look and approve," I said with a laugh.

Sam poked around on a few more wires.

"Have you and Dawn talked anymore?" Sam asked.

"About what?"

"About what we talked about on the phone."

"Some, have you talked to Olivia about it?" I asked.

"Some. James would you really let another guy do Dawn?"

Dawn switched the TV on so we could see the pool outside, Sam and I sat on the sofa.

Sam was looking up at the TV when Dawn said, "I think there are more interesting things to watch Sam."
