Previously on Langley Circle... Dean sprung a surprise visit to the Langley estate, announcing that it could be the home of the "Circle" project. Nicky, Josh and Bella explored the grounds, indulging in a pagan roleplay around a fake henge they discovered, while the "adults" spent time exploring the main house in preparation for a brainstorming session over dinner.

Season Two, Episode Sixteen
"Pass the chicken and cashew nuts please," Dean said to no one in particular. He didn't have a clue where his favourite dish had ended up on the crowded table. The meal had been quite a banquet; with eight hungry mouths to feed, the order had been substantial. He'd commented to Beth that perhaps they might have gone a bit over board, but she'd fixed him with a death glare, and he'd said no more about it.
He glanced around the table; astonishingly, there didn't seem to be much food left. Where did they all put it? For a group consisting of six women, Beth, Megan, Trudy, Nicky, Bella and Sally, all of whom were in good shape and looked like they watched what they ate, he had been surprised at how they'd pounced on the meal, demolishing the majority of it in short order.
"Found it," Nicky chirped from the other end of the table.
"Excellent, pass it down," Dean said and rubbed his hands gleefully. His grin turned to a frown a moment later as she held up the empty container. "Well bloody hell; I didn't have any of that."
"That as maybe," Beth said from the seat next to him, "but you did have four duck pancakes if I am not mistaken, which is at least two more than anyone else."
Dean pursed his lips. "That's fair. OK, I'll take whatever that noodle one is next to you Josh."
The lad eyed the plastic container dubiously. "You sure?"
Dean gestured confidently, keen to grab it before it was scarfed up. Josh shrugged and passed it along to Dean, who shovelled a generous helping onto his plate next to the small pile of rice.
"As I was saying, this time last week, one of our biggest roadblocks seemed to be finding somewhere to house the circle, but as of today, that problem is no more."
"Assuming we are happy to move forward," Beth interjected.
"Sure," Dean said and forked up a tangle of colourful noodles. His eyes bulged as the inside of his mouth began to burn from the spicy dish. Oh boy, that was hot. He swallowed a cough, chewing quickly to get the food down his throat. "Er... yeah the place is ours if we want it." A bead of sweat formed on his brow as he chewed and swallowed. "I reckon we have a week or so before we have to give David a decision."
Beth smirked. "You OK darling, you're looking a bit red."
Dean nodded and reached for his glass of wine, hoping it might soothe the fire that was flaring in his mouth.
"I still can't believe you could own the Langley Estate as easy as that," Sally said as she nimbly plucked a battered chicken ball from the bowl in the middle of the table, dipped it in sweet and sour sauce and bit into it. Dean eyed her chopstick dexterity with envy as she went on. "The feature list is amazing, and the photos are gorgeous." She suspended the half-eaten ball between her sticks with an effortless grace as she studied the information sheets Dean had passed around.
"Bear in mind those photos were taken specifically for sales purposes, so they'll be carefully angled and framed. I'm sure the estate isn't without its problems."
As she continued to read the printout, Trudy leaned closer and sucked the remainder of the ball from the chopsticks. Sally looked up and grinned, withdrawing the sticks and tweaking Trudy on the nose. The chicken thief giggled as she chewed her prize, before turning to Dean.
"How would we find out about those problems, or are they already listed somewhere?"
"There is a list, but I was also thinking of asking Dave if he'd give the place the once over. I've got a feeling this kind of project might be right up his street." In more ways than one, Dean finished the sentence in his head. His next-door neighbour was already getting very friendly with Trudy, and he suspected that Dave might enjoy being formerly folded into the circle project, with all the benefits that implied. Of course, there were no actual 'benefits' explicitly included, but Dean couldn't help but notice that everyone associated with the project so far was either involved with, or was showing a strong interest in becoming involved with someone else around the table.
Dean's eyes drifted to Sally, and then he immediately chastised himself for perving at the leggy blonde, that was one of his daughter's friends for Christ's sake. Then again, Bella was also one of Nicky's friends, and there had been some pleasurable allowances made there. A hand squeezed his leg; he glanced to Beth, who was studying him, one neatly trimmed eyebrow arched. He leaned over and kissed her cheek.
"That brings up an interesting point actually," Josh said, pinching a prawn cracker from Nicky, who was perching on his lap. "Do we need, or want, to bring in other people at ground level? I mean sure, something like this could take a large number of people to actually make it work, but I'm talking about, concept / investor types."
"That's a good point," Megan said as she poured another glass of wine, offering the bottle on to Bella. "I do have some money I could invest, but we need to think hard about whether this single concept could entirely support the business; the overheads on that place must be enormous."
"We'd have to cost our services carefully though," Nicky said. "We don't want to price ourselves out of the market simply to recover overheads."
"We need more eggs," Sally said.
"Er... we didn't order any eggs," Beth said, furrowing her brow.
Sally blinked. "Oh wait I mean baskets, we need more baskets."
Nicky snorted a laugh, but nodded in agreement. "She's right."
Dean chewed slowly; he was getting used to the heat of the... he wanted to say pork? He was also getting distracted again by the leggy blonde a few seats down from him. Sally's graceful neck looked particularly delectable tonight; maybe he could lick sweet and sour off her... he blinked and switched his attention to Nicky. "I'm lost."
Nicky stared back at him as if he was stupid. "Eggs... Basket... Don't put all of one into the other?"
"Oh I see," Dean said feeling foolish.
Sally smiled at him. "The estate is enormous and has such a wide range of facilities. We really need to make more than one bit of it work; preferably we need multiple income streams as well, ones that originate from diverse and unconnected markets, or ones that could possibly, but don't need to, overlap."
What was it with the women around Dean lately? Not only were they all drop-dead gorgeous, but they constantly surprised him with their keen business acumen.
"You're spot on there," Megan said. "We need more streams."
"Well until recently, Langley had at least one good income stream, albeit not one that could support the entire estate." Receiving blank looks, Beth clarified her point. "The tea rooms."
"That's true," Dean said. "It's definitely something we could look into reopening, maybe even expanding into a bar, or restaurant as well."
