Just cause you lot probably don't remember the roaring twenties terms I will use, I will list some to all again. Course I had to look them up too so there will be new slang to be found within. Without further ado, and since you probably want me to actually get on with it, I will.
Nookie-Honestly if you don't know you probably should stop reading everything on this website, but it is sex.
Bimbo-Usually a guy who is security, as in usually big strong guys who will toss you out on your ear.
Bum's rush-Getting tossed out on your ear
Bull-In this case that is a cop, sometimes it is other things but I'm keeping it simple.
Gigolo-This means a guy dancing with a woman, not the woman the man is called a gigolo.
Skirt-This is a woman, not sure I needed to explain this
Fella-This is a guy, 1920's speak for dude, and gentlemen, as in Skirts and Fellas
Hooch-Liquor that is illegal to be selling so they got creative on names
Brown plaid-Irish whiskey, or scotch if you want to be precise
Glad rags-Nominally a dress you wear out to dance and so forth, though honestly closer to a nice dress for most
Daddy-This one is a little tough, not what you think it means, though that too, in 1920's terms a daddy is the boyfriend, usually when he is wealthy but not always
Typewriter-Nominally it is supposed to be a Chicago typewriter, but this is based in Chicago, so just typewriter and it means a Thompson Submachine Gun
Word-Honestly I'm feeling silly doing this one, but in this case word stands for word on the street, perhaps not readily available when three sheets to the wind
Jake-Good, OK even, Sitting Jake is basically yeah let's do that
Joint-Place you go for most anything that is not your home, diners, speakeasies, so on so forth
Jalopy-A car basically, and I hope I didn't need to have this in here, but then again you lot are dense
Caper-More or less anything illegal, though generally used more for theft, fairly sure it is still used, but that may just be movies
Quiff-Nominally a slut or hooker, though mostly just a hooker since slut is basically any woman giving out more sex than the woman calling her a slut, even then
Dough-Money you goof
Sawbuck-Ten bucks, so three sawbucks is thirty dollars
Ace/aces-A dollar to many dollars, doesn't always get said on how much just a lot of aces
C note-This is a hundred dollar bill, though not always the one bill since you can call being handed five twenties a C-note
Colt-Nominally this is a gun company, but in this case I am talking about a M1911 Colt pistol
On the nut-I giggled on this one when I found it, means broke
Ankle-Same thing as walk, so we went for a walk is instead we ankled
Drugstore cowboy-Forget the movie, then again don't since more or less same thing, fella who dresses nice and goes around trying to score
Copacetic-This is an odd one, basically it means in agreement, so say a guy is all over you for sex, and you want the same, you are copacetic to his desires
Speakeasy-Come on seriously, really you don't know, oh sad, it is a bar, when it was illegal to sell alcohol, yeah mind boggling
Bee's knees-Same thing as awesome, perfect, best thing ever, I just like this one the best so I keep using it though it was more or less any animal, or insect, and a body part, seriously look it up
Dick-Really doesn't mean what you think, unless you are thinking of a private investigator, private dick, see what I did there
The war-That is WW1, that officially ended in 1918 so a whole 7 years before this
Probably more, almost positive there are even, but I'm stopping here. If you run across a word you don't know, google it. This is set in summer of 1925 Chicago, and one part I am iffy on, there is no record of when the first speakeasy opened. I have it referenced as some point in December 1920, which seems about right since Prohibition started January 1st, 1920, they didn't bootleg immediately.
Speakeasies opened after bootlegging started, and I would assume there was a little gap between no booze and there is illegal booze everywhere. Also being a little giving on the nice qualities of the mob in 1925 Chicago.

The lot of us are standing there after the banging on the door. Some sucked in breaths when the cover is slid aside and a pair of eyes are looking us all over. Then the fella is asking for the password and some exhaled breaths since that means we are getting in. I was one of those on account of this is a smaller joint.
Not always does one get in, even when you are a skirt alone wanting to get in. Course last time I had come here on my lonesome I got in after giving out a little affection even though it was full. Fred seems to be a rather lonely bimbo, though he is muscle bound and fearing the weight above is a factor. Doesn't help he is a rather brusque fella, and a bimbo.
Legend has it he was a bull that went away for the war and lost his spot with the police. I half believe that one, seen him sitting with bulls in a diner on more than one occasion. Then we are going inside excepting I don't quite make it, arm was grabbed and I am pressed in to a smiling Fred. Poke at him on account of he is keeping me away from the dance floor, I could use a gigolo and table fun.
"Hey lay off on the poking." Poke harder on account of he hasn't let go and I am looking for a little attention from a fella.
"You got yelled at the last time I gave you attention and I am wanting nookie. I am not going back upstairs then out to find a new joint."
"Go see Simon first, he is wanting to have you waitress." Sigh and stop poking, waitress does mean dough for me, not that I need any in this joint.
"Why does he want me to waitress?" Fred rolls his eyes so resume poking getting him to snort and grab my hand.
"Word is you are jobless and while you never need to buy a belt you do need to pay rent."
"I've been giving nookie to the landlord."
"I thought you weren't one for the ball and chain." Toss my hand on account of only got one not held.
"I'm not for the ball and chain route, but it's not like I'm not enjoying fellas left and right." Fred blinks a time or three.
"So you are going to end up being a ball and chain on account of child?" Shake my head.
"The teachings are to be married and have child. Father allows as having child is close enough."
"Probably should work on having a Daddy then."
"I'm undecided on that, I know I can simply move in with Father, he's got a big house behind the cathedral." Fred sighs and shakes his head.
"Sort of taking advantage of him." Shake my head and wink.
"I give him a turn so if I do end up in a family way he has a shot at causing it too."
"I'm not sure I wanted to know that, go on and talk to Simon. If you don't get any you can go home with me." Smile since that sounds rather good.
"Deal, and I perhaps will do that anyway, you were good for a fast turn, I wouldn't mind trying slower."
Leave Fred there grinning, I am smiling since I know I will enjoy his place. Into the place proper with me and the joint is jiving. The band is giving a lively tune and many are cutting a rug. I am wiggling a little as I go for the bar, I don't know where the office is so best be asking. Have to hand over a check twice on the way, makes me feel like a wet blanket.
At least it is only twice then I am at the bar and he comes over fast. Did wave my hands and bounced, got all of the fellas there to watch and grin. I am grinning when the bartender gets to me finally, smile when he points out the office, Simon is next to the bar. Not that he is sitting at the bar, I just go to the end of the bar and there is a door.
Inside I find Simon sitting behind a desk going over papers. I'd say he is reading the newspaper except he is instead looking at other papers, I would believe he is doing the accounting. Then he looks up and smiles at me. Smile back on account of he is a looker, with lovely blond hair that he leaves a little long on top.
"Ah Betty good, suppose this means you are not against working as a waitress."
"Am a little, want to get me some nookie, though Fred has invited me home with him after so suppose I can be patient. It being a virtue and all." Simon snorts and shakes his head.
