Stoner.
Emma picked herself off the ground, looking wildly around for the monster that had been right behind her. The doorway she had run through and the monster were gone.
She lay on the floor while catching her breath for several minutes. Only after Emma didn't see or hear anything did she relax a little and look at her surroundings. Turning in a circle, she saw large wood crates stacked haphazardly on both sides of the room, giving it a dingy old warehouse feel. Adding to the abandoned look, large spiderwebs covered everything, and the musty smell of mold and neglect made her sneeze.
"Someone should fire their decorator and cleaning staff," Emma said aloud, her voice muffled.
"This is the last haunted house I am going to," she muttered as she walked across the room toward the closed door on the other side, jumping at every creak or noise.
Emma stood at the doorway, her hand on the knob, while she gathered the will to open the door.
"It's only a fucking haunted house," she repeated and counseled herself.
Her free hand wandered to her breasts, touching the piercing that hadn't been there when she arrived this morning. The light touch of her hand on her nipples sent jolts to her clit, getting her pussy wet.
Maybe it's more than a haunted house
, Emma thought, a shiver running down her spine as she reluctantly pulled her hand away from her breasts.
"Come on, Girl. Get your shit together. You are not afraid of a stupid house."
After her pep talk, she turned the knob and pulled open the door slightly, looking through the crack between the door and its frame.
Seeing nothing lurking on the other side of the door, Emma pulled it open all the way.
Immediately outside was an open field of tall grass rimmed with dark, foreboding trees. The world looked washed out, the only colors coming off her clothes and the windows of the building on the other side of the field.
Looking around and not seeing any threats, Emma stepped outside and took a deep breath of the clean but dry air.
"Definitely smells better out here," she commented as she stepped through the door.
A loud creaking sound, followed by a crash, caused her to jump and spin around. The door behind her had slammed shut, blocking her way back.
"Shit," she snapped, trying to calm her nerves.
It was then that she noticed that the door had no knob on this side. She took out her keys, putting one in the crack between the door and its frame. Despite her best efforts to pry the door open, it remained steadfastly shut.
Putting her keys away, she looked across the field at the other building.
"I guess I just keep swimming," she said out loud as she slowly walked toward the other building.
She had made it about halfway across the field before she heard something behind her. Emma spun around, not seeing anything but grass until it ran into the ring of trees.
"Where did the other building go?" she wondered. She walked back toward the trees and checked the spot she thought it had been in but found nothing. Even the grass was undisturbed.
She felt a chill go through her body, which had nothing to do with the temperature.
"Fuck this," Emma said, turning around and walking towards the other building.
It seemed to take forever to cross the field. Emma thought she had heard something behind her again about what she estimated as the halfway point.
Looking back, she saw the trees behind her, but nothing else was moving.
Turning, her attention was drawn to something moving slowly through the tall grass toward her. After finding the first one, Emma looked for other signs of movement and found three other trails moving slowly toward her.
Not wanting to wait for whatever was following her to get any closer, she started moving toward the strange building faster than before.
When she glanced over her shoulder, she noticed the movement was speeding up, moving closer to her than the building was. Emma quickly calculated and realized she wouldn't make the building before the things moving through the grass caught up to her.
She ran, fear giving her the extra energy to pull ahead of the things chasing her, at least momentarily.
Emma burst through the grass ring into the clearing around the building, sprinting the last few feet until she reached the door, only to find it locked.
"Shit," she shouted, frustrated that the door was locked. She checked the windows but found they wouldn't budge.
She glanced over her shoulder and saw what had been chasing her emerge from the grass. Dozens of brown and white creatures hopped into the clearing, gathering in a group before her.
It was bunnies chasing her,
Emma thought
,
rolling her eyes and laughing at the absurdity of being chased by rabbits.
They hopped a few paces closer.
"Ahh, you guys are so cute and fluffy," Emma said as she squatted down, reaching out toward the lead one.
The bunny hopped a few steps closer, leaning forward so Emma could touch it. She gently ran her fingers through the lead bunny's fur, marveling at its softness. The creature's startling blue eyes seemed to grow larger as Emma continued to pet the creature.
"I wish I could take you home with me, but the dorm has strict pet policies, and you, my furry friend, are too big," Emma said, smiling.
The rabbit so entranced Emma that she failed to notice the other rabbits surrounding her, blocking any escape.
"Well, while I would love to sit here all day and pet you, I have to find a way out of this place," Emma said, ruffling the white fur before pulling her hand away. As she stood, something hit her from behind, knocking her down.
She picked herself up and turned and saw another rabbit with red eyes looking at her.
