"We got everything?" I asked as we strapped the last of our gear into the back of Sean's pickup truck.
"Looks it, let me run in and check the house," Anna offered.
Sean pulled the strap tight and smacked the bundle, "That's not going anywhere."
Anna came back out, "Nothing left." She looked over to me and said, "I can't believe you've never been to a music festival before."
"What can I say, there wasn't much fesitivalling up north, at least none that I knew of."
She smiled, "You're going to love it. Camping, getting fucked up and loud music."
"Alright, let's get going," Sean said getting into the driver seat.
Anna tried getting into the front when she realized he had packed the front seat with coolers. "Dude, what the hell," she shouted.
Sean laughed, "they wouldn't fit anywhere else. The back seat is to narrow."
"Am I supposed to ride in the bed?" Anna said irritated.
"No, get in back with Derrick, you guys can fit."
She looked back and saw the back behind the passenger seat was just as stuffed with gear as the front. She trudged around in a huff to the driver's side and saw me sitting in the seat, there was about six inches left for me to scoot over, which I did. Anna hopped in and crashed her hip into me, doing her best to squeeze in.
"Come on, we gotta get on the road." Sean barked.
"Dude, the fucking door won't close," Anna yelled back, as she was trying to close the door.
"You can fit," Sean said offering no assistance.
"Let me drive, then, you squeeze your ass back here," Anna fired back.
I tried maneuvering more of the items and bit and got another inch or two so she could close the door. It was tight, and we were so close, we had to sit at an angle.
Sean didn't seem to care, putting the truck in gear and heading off down the road.
Me and Anna were constantly shifting trying to find a comfortable spot. We sat so our faces weren't inches away. She was loudly grunting and sighing to make sure Sean knew she was annoyed. His solution was to up the radio volume a touch.
"How long is this trip?" She blurted.
"What?" Sean asked.
"I said, how long will this trip take, I can't sit like this."
Sean looked at his phone GPS, "Say's we'll be there by 11:30."
"It's 8:15!" she yelled. "I can't sit like this!"
"Look, you just have to figure it out. Sit on his lap or something." Sean nudged up the volume once again.
Anna looked at me with rage in her face. I shot her a flat smile. "Can I?" she asked.
"Why not," I responded.
With that, Anna stood up a bit and let me scooch back to a comfortable position, sitting fully in the seat and she plopped down onto my lap. She wasn't very heavy, but hours with her body weight on me would definitely start to get painful. "You good?" she asked.
"Yeah, no sweat. I'll let you know when I lose sensation in my legs." I joked. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I guess," she said slapping Sean on the head. He laughed and blasted the radio.
