Part II: The Reunion
The next few months went by without too much happening. Eddie and Cari spent a lot of time together at each other's places as well as at Mia's bar. They agreed that their relationship should stay where it was...not committed but rather a friends-with-benefits arrangement. Every once in awhile Cari would ask how Eddie planned on winning his bet with Mia. Eddie actually hadn't thought about it as much. Still, it had to be addressed. He only had nine months remaining.
A reunion was planned in Montana where Eddie had been stationed at the start of his military career. A couple of folks began organizing the event that was to specifically invite members of his old unit from the time period he was stationed there. Eddie requested time off from work to go and did consider bringing Cari but realized that maybe this was an opportunity to get the ball rolling on the bet he had made with Mia.
He hated the idea of flying but, he knew that it was the only viable option. He had made arrangements with his long-time friend Beth who had a small ranch just outside the city where he had been stationed. Their friendship had always been platonic but, Eddie felt that she wanted more. It had been a little over 15 years since they last saw each other and Beth had been married at the time. Eddie had felt his presence might cause some friction between Beth and her husband but, according to her, things were well beyond that prior to his arrival. Despite their marital issues, he stayed in their guest room.
They had hung out and went bar-hopping like they did when they first met. She had driven him to the hotel near the airport the night before he was supposed to leave. Eddie sensed there was something she wanted to ask him but, he never pushed the issue. Upon arriving at his room, the two hugged. He saw something in her eyes that remained with him in the years since. Neither one of them ever brought it up.
Eddie stopped reminiscing and began getting everything set for his trip. He was headed out late in the morning and Cari was going to drop him off. His bag was packed, his ticket ready and he had a rental car waiting for him at his destination. Cari spent the night with him so she was there to drive him to the airport.
The next morning, they headed out to Cari's car. Eddie loaded his bag in the trunk but was confused when he saw Cari sitting in the passenger seat. "What are you doing?" he asked.
"I thought you might want to drive," she replied. Eddie shrugged and got in on the driver's side. When he backed out of the parking spot, Cari broke the silence. "How long until we get to the airport?"
"About 20 minutes. It's fine. I'm going to have plenty of time to make my flight." Eddie answered.

She was a bit reluctant to let him go knowing his relationship with his old friend. Eddie had told Cari about Beth and she had come to the conclusion that Beth had fallen for him. He also knew such a turn of events would change everything. Eddie kept moving along and managed to get his bag checked and pass through security.
When Eddie entered the concourse, he bought a magazine and some water. He sat down and began reading. He was doing this for about 15 minutes when a woman sat down next to him. She was striking. She had a slender build with dark hair and appeared to be an inch or two shorter than him.
"Nobody is sitting here, right?" she asked. Eddie shook his head.
"Are you headed to Minneapolis?" she inquired. Eddie once again shook his head no.
"It's a layover for me. I'm going to Montana." The young woman nodded knowingly before extending her hand out to him. "Hi, I'm Krista."
"Eddie," He replied shaking her hand.
The two talked until it was time to board. She was a very sociable and he welcomed it. Krista was returning home after visiting some friends at the beach. She worked as a paralegal despite the industry being a little too uptight for her taste. She maintained a balance by doing some side work but she never specified what that meant.
When they boarded, they realized they were seated next to each other. They both laughed before taking their seats. Eddie wouldn't had minded talking with her the entire flight but he was tired from the previous night. He and Cari had sex before going to sleep and again in the middle of the night when she awakened him by stroking his cock. Krista was just as tired. "It's alright," Eddie assured her.
The plane landed and when they exited the aircraft, they knew they were headed in separate directions. "Let me see your phone," Krista said. Eddie handed it over and she entered her phone number into it. "If you're ever in town, give me a call." She handed it back to him before giving him a peck on the cheek and apologizing one more time about drooling on him. Eddie watched as she walked towards baggage claim. Then, he turned around and went to the gate for his connecting flight.
The flight into Great Falls, Montana was uneventful. Eddie got some more sleep though he had a weird dream that involved him, Cari and Mia. He couldn't remember details but he had a little chub working upon waking up. When he got off the plane and claimed his bag, Eddie picked up his rental car and drove out to Beth's house. It wasn't a long trip. It was about 15 minutes altogether with the interstate making up the bulk of the travel. He turned onto the long driveway just off the state highway to her house.
