London, England
The streets blurred from the back windows. Figures of people and streets blended in a moving image with the grey sky above. Watching the world in motion from the backseat of a taxi cab was a familiar experience for Elroy Walker. Traveling was a part of his life at this point. It made him comfortable with the black leather briefcase and rolling backpack that held his valuable possessions. All expenses of this trip were paid by the company he represented. Like the other trips in the past month, this one wasn't for vacation. Roy was on the move, attending meetings with other business partners in the tech industry. His boss trusted him to go alone and write reports about the subjects regarding these meetings. It was all for potential partnerships and business related subjects.
Four months went by from the last time he stepped foot in London. The holidays of Christmas and New Year's had passed. He had one good reason to want to travel back here without it being a trip on the company's dime. Work made it all more convenient for a planned reunion. Lucy Pinder had given him something to remember on that first trip. He was constantly reminded of that day thanks to her text messages that came every few days. Lucy made sure to stay in touch with him after he departed. She never went more than five days without texting him. They usually talked over the weeks or whenever Roy wasn't busy with work. Lucy's messages would come at odd hours due to the time differences between North Carolina and England. This made it difficult for him to reply to her at a convenient time, since he was usually at work when she would text during the evening hours in her country.
That one night they shared together was his highlight of the year. Roy couldn't get it out of his mind. He imagined that other men in the company had one night stands with women they met on trips. Roy didn't see Lucy as a quick bang. Never had he seen a woman more beautiful than her in his life. The thought of her breasts kept him awake some nights when he needed to relieve himself through the old, tired habit of masturbation. After he went back home, Roy did his homework on learning who she was. Everything she told him was true about being a glamour model. It was crazy to think he had a random one night stand with one of the most notable British sex symbols of the 2000s. He went as far as to buy some of her old magazines from EBay to put into a private collection. Of course, he didn't reveal this private information to her when they texted.
Roy didn't want to appear obsessed with her. He was fortunate that she wanted to keep contact with him after leaving, hence why he remained tight lipped about the magazines. The letter she wrote to him, signed with her lipstick imprint, was more than a simple memento. He treasured it, keeping it on his nightstand where he saw it every day for the past four months. There were chances for him to hook up with other women across the cities he traveled. On one business trip with another man from the company, Roy had the chance to spend company money on an escort. It was offered to him with a connection from his coworker. He passed on that chance, all due to the strong feelings he had for Lucy. He wanted to believe they were in a long distance relationship, but Roy knew it was possible for her to move on with another man at any time.
He never asked her that question in texts, but it crossed his mind several times as the months passed by. It was his greatest fear now that he had returned to England with hopes to see her again. The taxi ride took him to the Marriott Bonvoy, where a luxurious suite awaited him. Roy had not contacted Lucy yet. He was staying for three days. Tomorrow was the international business conference he flew to London for. Instructions were given to him by his boss, telling him that as soon as he checked in to get comfortable. A nap was needed thanks to jet lag, which would throw his sleeping schedule off by the time he arrived back home. By the time he reached the hotel and went up to his room, Roy couldn't think about sleep. Four months might as well have been a year at this point since the last minute he was in Lucy's presence. It wasn't a question of wanting something. This was about needing to see her before he could sleep. After throwing down the briefcase on his bed, Roy dug into his pocket for his phone and decided it was better to call her rather than text.
"Hello? Roy, is that you?"
She answered within seconds. He blushed at the sound of her strong British accent now that he was hearing it for the first time in months.
"Yeah, Lucy. It's me. Listen, I just touched down in London."
A gasp was heard on the other end of the phone.
"Oh my, really? You're in town."
"That's right. I figured I'd call to surprise you. Are you free right now?"
"I am free, yes."
"Can I come and see you?"
"Ummmm, yes... Just give me a moment, please. I wish you had texted me before you got in. I would've planned something for this."
He chuckled, smiling wide. It was a relief to hear Lucy so enthusiastic.
"Can I see you in the next hour? I just got into my hotel, I haven't even unpacked yet."
"Where are you staying this time?"
"I'm at the Marriott."
"Which one? There's a bunch out here."
"Oh, I'm in Mayfair. It was a long trip from the airport."
"You're not far from me right now. I can take a cab and meet you in an hour, but I'd rather get all fixed up and fancy first."
Roy sighed before responding.
"It's been four months. I don't want to wait any longer to see you."
"Not even an hour?"
As he sighed, Lucy chuckled.
"Give me an hour to hitch a ride. I'll meet you in the bar, just like last time."
The phone line disconnected with her hanging up. Roy swallowed his breath as he moved it away from his face and smiled. He didn't have time to think about the excitement they shared. Meeting in the hotel bar brought back memories, since that was where they met the first time. With a sigh, Roy entered the bedroom. It was a large space with grey walls and black curtains to cover the windows. The bed was a king size with white sheets, matching pillows, and a padded grey headboard. Upon first glance, he imagined the bed was large enough to hold three, maybe even four people. Roy prevented his thoughts from going in another direction, imagining all the space he would have to wake up next to Lucy. The gray colors matched the nightstands that were painted, both holding a small lampshade off to the side. Off to the left side of the bed was an orange velvet chair. He sat down for a moment to quietly think to himself.

1 HOUR LATER
Downstairs from the lobby led to the bar. Roy didn't spend much time in his room. He washed his face and shaved. His hair was slightly longer than the last time he saw Lucy after going four months without a trimming. He wore a black blazer jacket to go with his buttoned up pink shirt that was tucked into his blue jeans. In his luggage, Roy had a full pinstriped suit tucked away to be worn at tomorrow's corporate conference. The hotel bar was appropriately nicknamed the 'crystal bar,' sporting a black on gold Art Deco design. This artistic style was similar to a place he had seen in New York last year. Gold lining divided the black marble tiles on the walls. Every chair was the same, with a black leather seat and back support. Roy took one, sitting at the edge of the bar where he could watch for when Lucy entered the room. The bartender offered him a drink, but Roy refused. He wasn't going to be drinking alone.
Some minutes passed by with several people coming and going from the doorway. A few minutes after an hour, Roy began to worry she wasn't coming. He didn't know Lucy on a personal level to understand she was usually a few minutes behind schedule for events. Many strangers walked through the door with unrecognizable faces. That wasn't the case when he finally caught a glimpse of Lucy brushing past two tall men. Roy blinked his eyes, giving a double take just to be absolutely positive it was her. Her long brunette hair was fixed in a ponytail, bouncing behind her. Lucy wore a black top, covering her busty chest that offered no view of her cleavage. Below her shirt she wore denim blue jeans and the same Vans-style sneakers from the day they first met. Even the choice of black brought back memories. Roy got up from his seat as he saw Lucy glancing around the room for him. He raised his right hand, waving.
"Lucy! Over here!"
