*This is the beginning of what I'd like to be a new ongoing series for me. I have plenty of ideas for this particular series, but would be much obliged to add anything my fans suggest, so let me know what you'd like to see. Also, let me know what you thought of the story so far, good and bad. I hope to have chapter two done within a months time, but it will take less or more time probably depending on the amount of feedback I receive on this one. If no one likes it, then there's not much point in continuing is there?
Feel free to suggest other celebrities for Jake to meet. I'd like to include a new celebrity pretty much every chapter, but will definitely continue his story arc with Rihanna if you all like it. Thank you for your time and support.*
My name's Jake Cutler, and I'm an aspiring actor. Its been a slow and hard road for me thus far; mostly commercials, some small voice acting parts, local plays, and a few small unlisted parts as an extra in some summer movies. However, it seems my luck is changing. I was on my way to a studio where I'd be the love interest of pop-artist Rihanna's new single, "Push Up On Me."
I'd always been a fan of the young singer, both a fan of her body and musical ability. So, needless to say I was pretty excited when I got the call from my agent earlier in the week. This would hopefully expose my face to my target market, young girls who would find me attractive. If they liked me, then chances were better that I'd garner attention from producers and directors looking for leads in their new teen drama movies. Hell, I'd settle for a sidekick role, or even the villain if that's all they'd give me. In this business you can't be picky when you first get started, and I knew that. Once the world saw my talent and I became respected, I'd be able to pick and choose. Until then, I'd do whatever I could to be noticed.
I pulled into the studio's parking lot a few minutes before I was due, and as soon as I approached the door someone was there to lead me into hair and makeup. Not exactly my favorite part of acting due to the time it often took to finish even the simplest makeup, but it was nice to appear quite flawless on camera. After about thirty minutes of precise powder and miniscule adjustments to my hair, which was usually quite mundane, being short and rather fine, I was ready for my costume.
They decided to go with a sort of Justin Timberlake look, perhaps because we had similar builds and facial structures. I ended up in a pair of expensive black slacks and shiny loafers, wearing a business-like white, button-up that was unbuttoned down most of my chest. The matching blazer was unbuttoned as well, and from what I understood, I was supposed to get rid of that quite quickly. Probably my favorite part of the costume was a very expensive Rolex watch, and sparkling chain and charm. My entire outfit had to cost about twice as much as my car did, but I guess nothing less was worthy of dancing beside Rihanna.
Now I'm not one to toot my own horn, but I'd always been a pretty decent dancer, and knowing that I would be booked twice as much if I could dance well, I took several lessons before moving out to L.A. which proved quite beneficial after all. I knew several different styles at this point, but from when I spoke to the director he made it clear I wouldn't need anything all that fancy, just typical club moves, mixed with some tango-elements. It didn't seem very complicated, and they let me spend about twenty minutes with a curvy choreographer while Rihanna was still getting ready with her own costume.
The moves seemed pretty simple, and after two run-throughs I was pretty much set to go. I walked candidly over to the refreshments table and grabbed a bottle of water to take a swig whilst I waited for however long I had to. It wasn't long though, because as I brought my chin down from the swig, my eyes fell upon one of the most gorgeous women that I'd ever seen. She was beautiful. I mean beau-ti-ful! As the sagely Dawson Leery would say she was, "beautiful in the way that beautiful used to actually mean something." As that thought crossed my mind I couldn't help but smile at my own lameness, a lot of my friends always criticized me for being a fan of "Dawson's Creek" but in my opinion that show had all of life's important answers in it. Plus, I identified with the lead role.
Apparently I was smiling a bit too wide, and a bit too long, because as Rihanna's eyes met mine she arched an eyebrow and spoke in her smooth voice, with the sexy Barbadian accident lingering on her lips, "Do you find something funny?"
"Ah... Oh, no. Just a funny thought popped into my head. That's all." As I stood there still smiling I realized what a goober I must look like. "Ah, jeez, I'm sorry. I probably look like a complete jackass don't I?"
With a grin of her own, her brow relaxed and she moved forward a step, "No, no," she laughed and then added, "well a bit. But you're a cute jackass. I like your dimples, and that five o'clock shadow just makes it even sexier." Her golden-brown eyes were locked on mine, and I blinked to stop myself from staring too hard, just as she reached a slender hand forward, "I am Rihanna."
With a short chuckle I nodded, "Oh, I know. I'm a fan of your music, you're quite talented," and as I reached my hand forward to take her soft digits into my heavier and rougher palm I smiled with a small bow of my head and introduced myself, "I'm Jake Cutler, I'll be your dance partner today."
"Well, lucky me," she smiled as I released her hand, and I noticed that her eyes were still studying me quite intently.
"Not to disagree with you, but I'm probably the lucky one," I laughed and took another sip of my water in an attempt to appear more casual and less nervous.
Just then the Director clapped his hands loudly and rose his voice, "Alright people! It's time to make some magic! Where's my sweet little Rihanna?" Rihanna smiled at me with a small wave and turned to approach the director, who was ironically shorter than the 5'10" Barbadian in heels was. "Ah, there you are darling! Okay, positions everyone. Cue the lights and we're ready to shoot!
