Friends v Big Bang
The young, blonde actress' agent had called her about a potential new project that was in the offing. She was reluctant to even consider another role, as she was now into the 4th series of her current, increasingly prominent role in a hit TV sitcom. 'Why rock the boat?' she thought, 'things are going great with the show.'
"I'm not being a diva but do you really want me to go to an audition?" she said.
"It's not an audition sweetie. They want to have a chat with you to see if you're interested."
"Why would I be interested, TBBT is going great."
That's when she was told who her co-star would be, and if things worked out and she got the part it would be a joint star billing, and that she had been specifically asked for. She said yes in a flash.
Her co-star would be one of the biggest stars in TV. It was four years since she had finished her own starring role in a massively popular show that had everyone glued to the screen for the finale for the one hour special episode. The one with the question, will she get off the plane, or will she stay on it? You know the show, the titles or at least blurb starts 'The one with.' Well, she was the one with the hair, that famous cut that was named after her character.
The younger actress' show? Well, there's her, the so-called dumb, but sexy blonde girl, alongside four geeky science nerds who are into comic books and superheroes but who have no social skills until she drifts into their lives and changes them all. The first couple of seasons, she was always dressed in shorty shorts and boots, and low-cut tops, but God, don't mention the waitress uniform for her so-called job. If anything could make a sexy girl look frumpy, then that was it.
Anyway, you should now know who the two main people in this tale are.
When Kaley turned up at the studio to talk things through with Jennifer and the producers, she was more nervous than she should have been when she walked into the meeting room. The stunningly beautiful woman sitting in one of the easy chairs rose to greet her, giving her a prolonged view of her stunning legs and to die for, gorgeous body as she did.
"Hi, I'm Jennifer, so glad you could come along and talk about this part. I'm not sure what's fully involved myself but I'm looking for a new project and this one seems a good bet. I thought of you when they told me the basis of the plot so thanks for coming along to chat about things."
"Hi, Jennifer," Kaley said as she leaned in for an air kiss. "I'm not looking for a new role, but well, when my agent told me who I would be working with I just had to come along. I'm a big fan, I'm not just saying that, I mean it."
"Call me Jen, and thanks. How's your leg doing?" Jennifer referred to the broken leg Kaley had suffered earlier on in the year when she had fallen off a horse.
"Fine now, thanks for asking"
"Good. I love how your character is developing in your show. I watch it all the time. I think you can take it a lot further."
"So why should I look at a new project that could cause conflict?"
"In this business it's always a good idea to have an option."
After the pleasantries were over, the girls sat around a coffee table, and the meeting went along quite well as the producers and director outlined the basic plot line to us. Then the bombshell hit. "Then in episode 4, we'll have you kissing..."
"Whoa, stop right there, buster," Kaley burst out. "I've never kissed a girl in my life, and I don't intend to start now."
Jennifer remained silent, a look of what, on her face, was it incredulity or disdain?
"Well, we have a problem as the relationship between your two characters is an on-off lesbian couple and is the mainstay of the programme. The will they, won't they stay together."
Kaley felt torn, she'd never been involved in any lesbian scenes and didn't know if she wanted to do so. The problem was the scripts that Kaley had seen were really well written, and she'd have loved to work with Jennifer.
"Okay, let's not get too carried away with the kissing thing, I'm sure that we can work something out and as we're aiming for a primetime slot the sex can't be that obvious. Let's just leave that part 'till later."
They discussed things over in general, but the big thing standing in the way of the project moving forward was still Kaley's reluctance to share an on-screen kiss, which would lead to the pair having a lesbian affair, which by necessity would lead to more kisses and possibly more intimate physical contact, despite Jennifer's insistence that the show was aimed at prime time.
Both agreed that the concept was good and that the timing was possibly right for both of them. Jennifer needed a new project, and Kaley would be expanding away from comedy; there was only one problem: the lesbian side of their characters. Eventually, they agreed to leave things on the table for a while, and think things over.
A couple of days had passed, and Kaley was sitting at home reading through the next script of Big Bang when her phone went, "Hi, it's Jennifer. I was wondering would you be free to come over to my place and we could, like maybe, discuss this kissing thing? I've got to admit that I'm not keen myself, but the script and plot seem so good. It would take us both away from comedy roles you know."
"Sure, why not. I was only learning the script for the next episode, and I've not a big part in that one."
