Miami, Florida
A camera flashed, briefly lighting the dark corners of the wall outside. Plants covered the black fence posts with tall leaves hovering over a wooden walkway to offer shade. The leaves were in Rowan patterns, extending halfway to the fence. It was directly in the way for anyone trying to walk across the boards. They had been elevated previously a year ago in an effort to protect the plants during the spring season. Other plants were growing next to them, buried in small peddles. A rose had yet to bloom, with only the twig poking out from the tiny rocks. The space had become a personal garden for photographer Troy Austin. His Coconut Grove mansion made the perfect space for photo sessions far away from home. He stood behind the camera mounted on a tripod and zoomed in to a woman sitting under the leaves that blocked much of the sunlight from beaming down on her face.
A pair of brown eyes gazed back into the camera, matching the curly brunette locks of hair pushed behind her ears. Her pink lips were open slightly to reveal her teeth barred in what was a classic pose for the photographers who knew her. The view of the camera lens tilted downward slightly. Troy zoomed in, making sure he captured a perfect view of her heavy cleavage. It wasn't an everyday occurrence to spend his time snapping pictures of Lucy Pinder. The British Queen of Glamour had taken a trip to Florida to meet with her handpicked American photographers. Troy was one of the lucky ones who met Lucy over a decade ago, back when she was a regular in Nuts magazine. She liked to tease him about the fact he was one of the few 'yanks' in the office, as he was called. The term made Troy blush years ago, but not so much these days with a family at home.
After the glamour industry collapsed, he moved to Miami, where he picked up where his job left off with freelance work. That soon shifted into a full-time job with an agency connected to local fashion shows. His appearance had changed since the last time Lucy had seen him. Gone was the clean shaved face as he now sported a short beard of black hair matching his head. The wedding ring on his left hand told her that he was off limits despite the man inviting her into his lavish home. Lucy raised her right arm as she smirked at the camera. Her skin was pale, unlike Troy, who was proudly sporting a Florida tan. She struck a pose with her arm flexing outward and folding at the elbow. This was done solely to show off the new inked art of a highly detailed flower inside her arm. Another tattoo of a black vine with leaves covered her wrist.
Her world-famous, natural breasts were hidden from the camera, snugly fit into the red one-piece swimsuit. It was a tame outfit. Lucy boasted that they were bigger now than her prime years at a jaw dropping G cup. Troy didn't argue with her claim. The tight swimsuit told the story as the straps over her shoulders looked barely contained. Lucy didn't wear much makeup compared to her glory days. The black eyeliner and mascara were gone, giving her more of a simple look to compliment her natural beauty. She could've easily made more money by shooting topless, but for her, those days were in the past. It was her choice to keep her photo shoots more tame and focused on beauty, opposed to the raunchy style of lads mags. Her new FansOnly profile was the true motivating factor for this trip. Lucy tried to convince herself this wasn't about the money. She was going for one last run as a victory lap. A solid reminder of who was the most famous glamour model in England a decade prior.
Lucy had once said that she would model as long as Kelly Brook did. It was a quote that came and went, but one she had not forgotten. She broke her promise upon retiring with the industry in shambles. Lucy took pride in claims she heard over the years that her own career bookended the height of glamour modeling and ended with it. Troy was there when he shot the cover image for Nuts Magazine's final issue. Nine years had passed since that somber day where Lucy stood with a single teardrop running down her face. Life changed over time, leaving everyone with a taste of nostalgia. She thought she could forget about her past until she bumped into Kelly again last month. The two women enjoyed a friendly rivalry in the past. Lucy had not thought of Kelly much, figuring they were both retired from modeling until seeing her again at a party.
Kelly returned to London with stories about her time spent in Miami. Despite her status of fame above Lucy, they still gossiped in social circles that overlapped. They knew the same people, making it easier for Kelly's stories to eventually reach Lucy's ears. The tales of Lori and her son Daniel remained fresh in Lucy's mind when she first heard them. Kelly didn't tell her directly to her face about the young man. The story went around several female friends before it reached Lucy. By that point, she was slightly embarrassed to think of people whispering behind closed doors about Kelly's sexual conquest. The only detail that mattered was that Lucy was his first crush and Kelly took his virginity. She knew it would drive Lucy crazy, bringing back memories of another time when they competed over a man. Once she found out that Daniel was Lori's son, Lucy had second thoughts.
Lori was the only one who could get in contact with photographers from back in the day. Lucy learned of this harsh truth when she first approached Troy on social media. He only worked with contracts arranged and approved by someone who could guarantee a decent paycheck. Lucy didn't have the best history with Lori. She remembered the woman for how cutthroat she could be as an agent and fixer of deals. Lori never forgot when someone turned down an offer. She would find ways to punish their disloyalty by charging higher rates. She lived up to her cold reputation by making Lucy pay for the trip on her own dime. It was worth it just to do a photo shoot with Troy. He was one of the few photographers who left a solid impression on Lucy from back in the day. Besides him, she had other reasons for venturing off to Florida that were unrelated to business.
"Do you want to switch things up with a new outfit?"
Lucy shook her head. The swimsuit was her final outfit of the day after changing out of a black lingerie set. She stood up, fixing her hair with both hands as Troy watched.
"I think we've done enough for the day."
He nodded, giving her a look that made Lucy expect a joke about a few topless photos. Troy didn't mention it. He turned off his camera and watched as she walked back to the house. Everything was about business with Lucy, as opposed to the past, where she was more personal with him. Troy figured that had to do with his status as a married man. Lucy didn't always flirt with her photographers, but he was one of the few. The teasing didn't go further than sharing drinks at the pub. Lucy remembered the times they shared drinks. She viewed Troy as a nice fellow, but not her type of man. After changing clothes in the bathroom, she packed her outfits into a large black leather handbag she brought along. A pair of blue jeans and a black shirt covering her busty chest made up her casual wear on this trip. As she walked down the hall, Troy spoke to her.
"Leaving so soon, Lucy?"
"Yeah, I need to get back to my hotel."
Her strong English accent came out the opposite of Troy's American voice. Despite the years he spent in Britain, his voice never changed. He smiled before turning around to walk towards the front door.
"Well then, the least I can do is walk you out."
"Always the gentleman, dear."
She teased in her choice of words. As Lucy walked the hall, her eyes wandered to the hanging picture frames. All of them were pictures protected by glass except one large piece of art held in a wooden frame. Lucy stopped to gaze into the blue lines of the painting. The colors were bright with the scent of oil long washed over. All lines led to a lighthouse painted in red and white. A speck of yellow made the light while the blue lines blended the night sky and waves below.
"You like the painting?"
"Yes, it's quite beautiful. Where did you find this?"
"Lori's son sold it to me for a grand. He probably could've gotten more than that selling to someone else, but I'm not complaining."
Lucy turned to make eye contact with Troy.
"Her son makes art?"
"Yeah. He's been selling them for a few weeks now. He moved out and set up his own little studio in an apartment."
Until now, Lucy didn't know how she would get in contact with Lori's son. At the heart of this trip, she was hoping to meet him after all the loud rumors Kelly shared. That was her driving motivation more than creating content for her FansOnly profile.
"He sells his work online if you're interested."
Troy's statement prevented her from becoming distracted. Lucy nodded, quick to reply.
"Does he have a website?"
"No, he posts everything on Instagram. I can text you his name."
