One Thursday night, I was sitting on my sofa watching television, when a commercial advertising a new game show came on.
"A whole new T.V. experience combining the games of American Gladiators, Survivor, and the Hunger Games," said the voice on the television. "This game will make contestants use their brains and bodies to outlast the other contestants, composed of regular people, and celebrities to win the final prize of $5,000,000. Registration is now open for those willing. Send us a video telling us why you should be on our new show, Battle Arena."
I sat on my sofa and thought "That would be so easy." So, I got out my video camera and made a short clip telling Battle Arena why I should be on it. The clip contained me introducing myself, Steve, a muscular 24 year old white man from New York with short blond hair, and dark brown eyes, and that I should be on Battle Arena because not only did I have the power to win, but I also had the mind to win. I submitted the video thinking that I wasn't going to be on television anyway and continued watching T.V.
Three weeks later while working out at the gym, my phone lit up telling me I had an e-mail. I finished working out and checked my e-mail. I looked who the e-mail was from and it said Battle Arena Talent Relations. I read through the e-mail that said I had been chosen from the entries and I would have to go to California as soon as possible to do the final interview before they actually put me on T.V.
Later that day when I got home from the gym I logged onto my laptop and bought a plane ticket to go to Los Angeles, California tomorrow morning. I quickly packed a bag of clothes and bathroom supplies and went to sleep so I could be well rested for tomorrow.
The next morning I woke up, got showered and got dressed, and got a cab to go to the airport. When I got to the airport, I went to the check-in desk and was done in less than 5 minutes. I then walked to security, because I knew that I was ahead of schedule. When I got to the metal detector, I put my bag on the conveyor belt and stepped forward.
BEEEEEP! Went the metal detector and I started to panic. The beautiful, brown-haired, blue-eyed, large breasted TSA agent smiled and asked if I had anything in my pockets and I realized I left my phone in my pocket.
"Oops, sorry I forgot about my phone," I said embarrassedly.
"No problem, it happens all the time," said Lauren, or at least that's what her nametag said.
Again I went through the metal detector, but this time there was no beep and I was extremely thankful and Lauren could tell.
"I have never seen someone so relieved to not here the beep," Lauren said with a smile.
"Yeah, just don't want anything keeping me from getting on the plane," I said as I pulled out a pen and piece of paper and wrote down my phone number, "I am Steve, call me sometime, we could go out for dinner and a movie or something."
Lauren smiled as I handed her the paper and headed for my plane waiting lobby. The plane arrived and we got on the plane ahead of schedule. We landed in L.A. and I couldn't wait to see what it had to offer. I got in the first cab I could and went to my hotel to drop my stuff off. After that I went around L.A. and saw the Hollywood sign, Sunset Boulevard, and all the other major sightseeing spots in the city. I went back to the hotel to get some sleep and prepare for my interview tomorrow.
The next morning I woke up, got ready, and headed to Studio 14 to my interview. I got there and was greeted by Bob Saget and Sofia Vergara, the hosts of Battle Arena. Bob told me that the interview would be recorded so it could be shown to the producers, casting directors, and if I made it, the audience. The interview was slow and I had a feeling that I did amazing.
