Veronica woke with a start. As the memory of last night began to return to her, she noticed she was alone in bed and sat up bolt upright in alarm, clutching the bedclothes to her naked chest.
"He left again!" Veronica thought to herself wildly. "He said he wouldn't leave!"
But before she could get too furious, she smelled bacon cooking and heard voices in the kitchen. One of them, a soothing deep baritone was laughing and the other, Chloe's voice, was telling a crude story. Veronica's eyes widened and she leaped out of bed, threw on her robe and charged out the bedroom door before she had even tied the belt of her robe.
There at the table sat Jacob and Chloe, laughing in unison. Jacob was wearing a white tee shirt and his khakis from the night before and his black hair was still damp from a shower. Chloe was in her familiar green robe, but it was loosely belted and sliding off of one of her shoulders. Her auburn hair was down and her crossed legs showed out of the slit in the front of her robe. Whatever they were talking about, Chloe was entirely enraptured and didn't notice Veronica's disheveled entrance.
Hatred flashed in Veronica's chest and she momentarily thought of flinging herself on Chloe and snatching handfuls of her glorious auburn hair from her head. But before she could, Jacob noticed her. His face spread into a gleaming grin just for her and her alone. Her anger evaporated with the flutter of girlish butterflies in her stomach.
"Good morning, beautiful!"
Every inch of Veronica's skin tingled when he said that. Suddenly they were all alone in the world and all that mattered to Veronica was that he was smiling that way at her.
"I thought you left," she said only a little accusingly as she tied her robe up. She just couldn't stay mad at that smile though. In spite of herself she felt flushed and a little shy under his gaze. Suddenly she remembered she was naked under her robe and she self-consciously pulled the belt a little tighter around her waist.
"No, I just got up and made a little breakfast. Cheese omelets with bacon and toast."
Jacob got up and went to the coffee pot where he poured a cup of coffee with milk and sugar and carried her the cup. He had made it just the way she liked it. While she contemplated the mug he suddenly leaned in and gave her a peck on the cheek. Again, the tingles went off up and down her body and she felt goose bumps on her arms.
"Thank you," Veronica managed to stammer at his smiling face.
Behind Jacob, Chloe stood up, eyes wide, and mouthed "OH MY GOD!" to Veronica and then began making obscene gestures with her hands. Veronica shot her a warning look and Jacob looked confused.
"Was that coffee not right?" he asked with little concern.
"Hmmm ... no, no that's just the way I like it."
Behind his back, Chloe pointed at Veronica, turned, bent over and shook her ass. Veronica blanched in horror as Jacob followed her gaze and turned to catch Chloe's display in progress.
"Oh, excuse me ..." he stammered uncertainly.
Jacob turned back to Veronica and searched Veronica's eyes as if checking to see if she was angry with him for looking at Chloe. For her part Chloe did something Veronica had never seen her do before. Chloe stood up and actually blushed the bright crimson of the fatally embarrassed.
"I, um, I dropped something," Chloe muttered in explanation.
Veronica looked at Jacob and saw that he didn't care about Chloe's magical ass. Instead, he was worried about what Veronica thought and that he was also worried she would think he was somehow interested in Chloe and not her. At this realization she relaxed and took a grateful drink of coffee.
"Don't mind Chloe. She's a klutzy bitch. Always dropping stuff," Veronica said reassuringly and he smiled in relief.
Jacob led her to the breakfast table and pulled out her chair. Then he made her an omelet while she calculated what to eat. This was a ticklish moment in their budding relationship for her. Eating habits had to be carefully disguised and hidden until the proper time to reveal them. She couldn't let him know that her usual breakfast was coffee and whatever candy she could find lying around.
Despite the fact she liked Jacob, she wasn't at all ready to eat actual food in front of him. However, he had cooked for her, so she had to be polite and eat something. When he slid the fresh cheese omelet onto her plate, she stirred it gamely and ate a few forkfuls, picked her way through a single slice of bacon and nibbled half of a piece of toast. Jacob made small talk for her to go with her omelet and Chloe quietly disappeared into her room. Frankly Veronica did not taste the food. All that mattered to her was that Jacob was still here with her in the morning just like she had asked him to be. Jacob reached over the table and laid his hand on top of hers.
"How are you feeling this morning, beautiful?"
Veronica's skin tingled again. She had heard him, but she wanted to hear him call her "beautiful" again.
"I'm sorry?" she lied. "The omelet was so good I got distracted and I didn't hear you."
Jacob smiled knowingly and then repeated himself more slowly with a warm smile.
"I said, 'how are you feeling this morning, beautiful.'?"
To Veronica it his question made her feel like she was standing in a sun beam on a spring afternoon. She got a flush of happiness like nothing else she had ever felt before. Nothing else mattered except that Jacob called her "beautiful".
"I'm feeling great."
Jacob smiled at that and she felt tingles again. Veronica's day was off to a strong start.
"I'm glad."
Then Jacob glanced up at the clock on the wall.
"I have to get going," he said in a bit of a disappointed voice as he stood up. "I have to go run some errands and visit some family."
Veronica immediately whined in protest like a small child who had been told it was time to leave the circus and seized Jacob's hand with both of hers.
"No! Stay with me! It's Sunday! Stay with Veronica!"
Veronica jumped up and hugged her body to his, taking care to make sure she mashed her breasts against him so he couldn't help but feel the erect nipples only just covered by her robe.
"You stay with Veronica!" she pleaded in her cutest childlike voice. "Veronica doesn't want Jacob to leave!"
Veronica tilted her head back and hit him with her best wide, pleading "come fuck me" eyes and let her bottom lip push out in a generous pout.
"Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease!"
Jacob smiled but shook his head.
"I have to go."
Veronica buried her head in Jacob's chest.
"NooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOO! Jacob not go!"
"I'm sorry, but I have to."
"Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!"
Gently Jacob extricated himself from her clutches. In answer she gave a petulant stamp of her little foot on the floor and did her best childish mean face with her hands on her hips. Jacob looked sheepish and then suddenly leaned in and kissed her full on the mouth. Veronica petulance melted and she kissed him back greedily. When Jacob finally leaned back out of the kiss, she was breathless and her cheeks felt flushed.
"Now, let me go on my way and I promise I'll give you more treats later."
Veronica couldn't help but giggle and Jacob must have taken that for her assent because he headed for the door and let himself out. Then before he shut the door, he poked his head back in.
