Chapter 2 Putting my Plan in place
Monday
The alarm went off at my regular time to get up and go to work. I showered, shaved and got ready just like any ordinary day and then got out the ticket and put it in my wallet and got my backpack heading out the door at my usual time to go to work.
Except, I wasn't going to work. I headed to the next town and found the Denny's and had a nice breakfast taking my time waiting for the Credit Union to open.
To kill some time I went into the Home/Farm store and browsed around finding a few items that I would want to include in my tool kit for the RV. Left there and drove by the local Jeep dealer to see what was on the lot. Found two that I might be interested in and spotted an RV dealer across the street. Drove over there and looked over the two self contained coaches they had on the lot. Both were nice but I didn't think that they had everything I would want and they only had one slide-out each. I preferred two.
Finally it was approaching 9:00 am and time for the credit union to open. I went in and they had a couple of safe deposit boxes available. I choose the larger one since I was going to be traveling a bunch and wanted somewhere safe to store some items of importance.
Got the paperwork finished and put the ticket in the box leaving with two keys to open it.
I then used my cell phone to call the finical advisor Carson that Steve referred me to.
I was in luck, he had a 10:00 -- 11:00 am time slot available to meet.
I killed another half hour looking at small 4WD trucks that had double cabs that I might buy to pull behind a coach stopping by the Ford, Chevy and Toyota dealers.
Only the Toyota dealer had something on the lot that I might be interested in.
I got to Jim Carson's office just before 10 O'clock and his receptionist escorted me to his back office.
After introductions and a short chat where I found out we were distant relatives I asked, "Jim, would you be willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement on something that will be in the 7 to 8 digit range?"
That got his interest. "Is it legal?" He asked.
"Most assuredly. I replied.
Then it hit him, "Oh My God! You're from White County. You hit the lottery yesterday!" he exclaimed.
"Let's see your non-disclosure. He said.
He spent about 10 minutes looking it over and said, "Sure, I'll sign and also have my receptionist sign as well."
"Um..did you secure your wining ticket someplace?" He asked.
"Put it in a safety deposit box 1st thing this morning." I said.
"Smart move."
I gave him my list of what I wanted to do with my winnings. We discussed each item and he suggested a couple of more such as setting up a trust and maybe putting back into a college savings program when Lance and Betty have a child and whenever I would.
"Well, looks like you have given this some thought. All of this looks doable. We need to get the LLC set up and what you looked into online is a good way to go." He said.
"What about getting a lawyer and an accountant on board and maybe having a meeting with the three of you at one time?" I asked.
"Excellent idea. I have a couple of different lawyers and accountants that you could choose from. With your situation this lawyer and this accountant would be my recommendations as they both have dealt with stuff like this in the past and would probably be agreeable to your request for an NDA. If either or both are unavailable though, then any of the others would work as well. I have working relationships with all them. In fact we have about 15 minutes in the hour I allotted, let's give them both a call and see if they would be willing and available to meet."
We called and he put us on speaker phone. The lawyer was 1st and he said he was available tomorrow morning at the earliest at 9:00.
