Eight happy years later at an exclusive resort in the Riviera Maya
Mimi made her way toward the pool with her hands filled with two gigantic mojitos. She couldn't remember the last time she and Adam had gotten away for an entire week. A wedding was a good excuse to travel, and she was looking forward to seeing Emmie and Stephen tie the knot. They had become good friends.
The couple was a Box Company success story, but that had nothing to do with Mimi or Adam. Fate had played a hand. The wedding was a don't miss. And doing this thing in another country was the only way the couple could ensure that Emmie's terror of a mother wouldn't show up. From what Stephen said at dinner the night before, Emmie's mother was convinced that they were all going to be kidnapped by the cartels. So far, the closest to criminal behavior she had seen was a local vendor offering another couple weed.
The weather was perfect, and the sand was pristine. As beautiful as the destination was, Mimi wouldn't give up her courthouse quicky nuptials with Adam for anything. Look at where it had brought them. Mimi had no desire to change anything about her life.
Sprawled in the sun on a lounge chair, Adam's big body roasted in the sun. With his beach towel tossed over his face, his pale skin was browning. Using the threat of bodily harm, she had been getting him to baste himself with sunscreen every two hours. He looked like he might have fallen asleep while she was visiting their favorite bartender. She skimmed a cold glass up Adam's side and he yelped with surprise. Mimi couldn't suppress her evil laugh.
Towel now in his lap, freshly awake, Adam pointed at her. "You are pushing your luck, young lady." When he made grabby hands for his drink, she gave it to him. The deck chairs were comfortable, but she was ready to get back into the pool.
Leaning down, so her words would only be for him, she teased. "I'm certain I've been bad."
The grin he offered her in response was wolfish. "You might drop that drink if you have to run with it."
"I was just teasing. We just got these." He couldn't possibly want to play wolf and rabbit now. It was the middle of the day. They had just had lunch.
"One." His eyes flashed, and he slid his feet into his sandals.
A thrill shot through her. He was serious. Grateful she still had her shoes on, Mimi set her glass down next to her lounger, laden with all of her things.
"Two." Adam took a deep sip of his mojito and placed it on the cement next to hers.
She grabbed her bag and her favorite sunglasses but left her book and her towel behind. Their snacks she abandoned without a thought as she sprinted toward their hotel room.
Behind her, she heard him say, "Three," and she picked up her speed.
Coming around the corner to the back entrance to their room, she lost her left shoe. It was gone. Goodbye shoe, If she slowed down, that man would take her in the bushes and shake the trees with her body until every bird in the area took flight. Thank the heavens.
She skidded onto their back patio and desperately tried to get her key to unlock the door. He smacked her body into the glass and bit her shoulder hard, pressing her to the slick surface of the glass door. Dancing up on her toes, she fought to get the latch to work, giggling as Adam's hands roamed across her body. He ripped free her sarong, jerked the door open, and lifted her from the ground. Mimi squealed when he tossed her onto the bed.

Laying half on the bed, Mimi worked to catch her breath, naked and flushed. High from her orgasm. When she looked toward the partially open door, she giggled. There were remnants of her bathing suit and sarong trailing toward the back door to their suite. That delicious man of hers had left her wrecked, pulled up his shorts, and headed out to go take a swim in the ocean. As soon as her legs worked, she was going to join him. She rolled over onto her belly and nestled into her pillow. The sheets were wonderfully cool, and a large-bladed fan turned slowly in the room. A nap would be so lovely. She spread her naked body out wide on the clean sheets of the king-sized bed. So much room. She rolled herself up in the sheet and sighed happily.
This trip was spoiling her for the whole rest of her life. No dishes. No kids. All their food and alcohol were provided. Other people cleaned. But the very best part was that the sexiest man in the place still called her cupcake. Her toes curled, and she gave a happy sigh.

After an amazing nap, Mimi wandered back to their chairs to see if anything remained of their abandoned items. She found her shoe half under a bush as she approached the path. They had all been gathering every day at the adult pool, so someone might have picked their things up for them. Everything was there when she came around the corner, including Emmie, who had claimed a nearby lounger and was curled over herself, painting her toenails.
Happy and content, Mimi dropped back into her spot. The only thing missing were their drinks, which would have been desperately melted by now, anyway.
