Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction, and it was created solely by me as the author. Any similarities to characters, businesses, places, or things are all happenstance, though my appreciation to those who have

inspired

my works is immense.

Author's Note:

This is the third part in the second series about the Nickels family. I believe many of you have come to love Joe, Ame, Bekah, Dave, Nancy, Bob, and Nana. (Who doesn't love Nana?!) You know the drill... my stories are STORIES, so many details make for fun, exciting, and interesting plot lines. And there's a lot of overlap from Bekah's story, but from Joe's POV. "Oh,

that's

why..." is what I'm going for. Questions and comments are welcome. Please take the time to rate this story also. I hope everyone will be kind.

Recap:

Joe put his head back on the cushion of the couch and continued to think about Ame. Her smile. Her laugh. The feel of her skin against his. The touch of her fingers. The look in her eyes when she reached pure bliss. He fell asleep sitting there continuing to picture his girl in his mind.

Dreams: Joe 03

"Ame, you are going to be the most beautiful bride!" Beck-Beck exclaimed after the side door closed.

"Well, both of you girls are gorgeous! You made or will make the most beautiful brides!" Mom amended. Typical Mom. Always ultra-fair. She was right, because they were both beautiful, and of course Beck-Beck was, and Ame will be. But still... typical.

"And wait until Joe sees the other stuff," Beck encouraged her. Oh, now we're talking, Joe thought.

"Ame, I'm going to keep all your stuff here in this room, alright?" Mom told her.

"Girls,

shhh

," Dad requested from the kitchen. "He's been asleep since just after dinner."

"Is Dave working on homework?" Beck-Beck asked.

"Upstairs," Dad told her.

"Good luck tomorrow, Ame!" Beck called to her, and Joe heard her footsteps as she walked up the stairs.

"How was dinner?" Mom asked Dad.

Joe tried to hear what Dad said but felt a hand on his arm.

Mmm

, Ame. When he felt her soft lips on his, he was still for a few seconds, but then he acted. He wrapped his arm around her and pulled her onto his lap. "

Mmm!

" she tried to squeal, but he kept his mouth pressed to hers.

"Hi," he whispered and kissed her lips again.

"Hi," she whispered back and smiled at him.

"How'd it go?" Joe asked her quietly. "I hear you're going to make the most beautiful bride, not that it needed to be said. You already are," he whispered and then brought her mouth down onto his.

"Where did Ame go?" Mom asked and Joe smiled against her lips.

"I'm here, Mrs. Nickels," Ame answered and tried to wiggle out of Joe's hold.

"Oh, hello, Joseph," Mom greeted him and smiled. "Ame, we'll go over other things tomorrow after you get off work. Does that sound good?"

"Sure things, Mrs. Nickels," Ame answered and finally wiggled out of Joe's grasp. "Thank you so much. I had so much fun today. You and Bekah were such great help."

"Oh, Ame, it was truly my pleasure," Mom assured her and stood near couch near them. "I'll see you both in the morning," she stated as she turned to walk toward her bedroom.

"Ready to head down?" Joe asked Ame as he began getting up.

"Are

you

? You just had a long nap?" Ame asked him and took his hands to get helped up.

"All the better for you," he whispered against her ear and slid his finger down her arm and clasped her hand in his as he brought her down the stairs.

He shut the door to his room and then laid her down on his bed and climbed on top of her. She tore off her shirt and reached down to help him out of his, all the while putting her mouth on his mouth, his neck, his chest. He put his hands on her face and brought her lips to his. He ran his hands up and down her back and kissed her so passionately.

"Ame, oh Ame," Joe whispered as he sat up and brought her to straddle him, "I love you. God, I want you so bad," he sighed and reached up to bring her mouth down onto his again.

"Joe," she whispered and gasped as he had her bra unfastened and a breast in his mouth already. "

Mmm

," she moaned and arched her back. He continued to lick and flick and suck on her hungrily and she gladly let him. "I love this," she whispered and then put her mouth to his when he looked up at her. "I love you."

He had her lie on her stomach next and gave her a massage. It'd been a while since they'd done this, so he took his time and laid on extra kisses all along the path of where his hands had been. She moaned or sighed as he touched her.

"Do you want the same?" she asked Joe and turned her head.

"No, I want to talk to you. Should we get into bed or just stay like this?"

"I'm comfortable," she responded and continued looking at him as he took a seat on the bed with his back resting against the headboard. "What's up?"

"Well, first," he began, "how was shopping? Did you find a dress, and did Beck-Beck buy you the world?"

"Shopping was fun. So fun," Ame amended and smiled as she kept the side of her face to the bed. "Bekah and your mom are so awesome. Even my mom had an unusually good time. Yes, I got the dress. Yes, Bekah went over the top, but it was very cool, and I'm even more excited about the wedding night. Like, waiting until the wedding night. The way Bekah went on about her experience of the honeymoon made me super excited to see what ours will be like."

"Beck-Beck told you about the honeymoon?" Joe asked and huffed. "Dave won't tell me anything."

"Well, she didn't say Dave did this or anything like that. Um, I don't know what I should share with you. It was more about how it was set up over there and how she felt and stuff. I can't explain how we girls talk to each other. It was safe enough for her to say in front of our moms, if that helps. Like, she was completely comfortable saying everything in front of them. Even my mom chimed in about her take on what Bekah said, and my mom isn't like that."

"The only thing Dave has told me is that it was the 'Best. Week. Ever.'"

"Oh, that was a given," Ame clarified. "Definitely earth-shattering, better than they could have ever imagined, amazing nights and all throughout the days, incredibly hot experiences."

"Well, in fairness to Dave, I guess in man-speak, that is the same thing as 'best week ever.'"

"See, that's why guys always make fun of girls and say they talk too much, and why girls regularly say guys need to communicate more."

"Do I need to communicate more?"

"I'll listen to whatever you want to tell me, Joe," Ame answered. "I don't feel like we don't talk enough. How's that for a double negative?"

"Well, ironically, I want to ask you about something similar, I guess. What about writing our own vows rather than using the generic ones we always hear? I thought maybe we could work together on that. And if we got them done tonight, we could bring them in to show Fr. K."

Ame looked at him and then sighed. "I really like that idea," she confessed and reached out to touch his hand. "I was going to ask, but I didn't know if that was something you'd want to do." She sat up and reached over to pull on her shirt.

"I began working on it upstairs but then got kinda caught up thinking about the wedding

night

and fell asleep. So far, I think I had our full names written down."

"That's a good start," she teased and sat in his lap between his legs so she could rest her back to him. "Do you think 'I love how well we fit together' would be appropriate to be said in church?"

"Maybe we could put it as a last idea if the other several don't work," he responded. "But seriously, I just wanted us to use our own words to make it really special."

They worked on brainstorming for about an hour and came up with a pretty good draft. Joe watched as she used her nicest handwriting to write up the ideas they had for what they'd say to each other and kissed the side of her head when she'd finished.

"What else, babe?" Ame asked him as she got up to set the paper on the desk. "We're on a role."

"In the spirit of honesty," he shared, "I suppose I should tell you that I went over to look at the house to see what we'd be working with for our wedding and honeymoon."

"OK, good to know," she laughed, "because I got to get the whole tour with Bekah and your mom after we were done shopping. My mom went home, but we had some things to bring over there before we came back here. So, what did you think?"

"That suite is going to be so awesome," Joe promised her and waved for her to come back to sit in his lap. "That shower is going to see a lot of us, and the hot tub has eight seats!"

"The dining room is lovely," Ame added. "I think it will be such a nice place to have our reception. I'm so glad Bekah offered that to us."

"Did you see the sunroom out behind the kitchen?" Joe asked her and played with her fingers. He was thinking about places they could envision themselves doing it, and wanted to ask about it, but he also felt the spirit of honesty poking at his side about something

else

he needed to be honest about.

"Yeah, I did," Ame told him and turned to look up at his face. "It has a whole section where you can stargaze. Did you see that? If we have a clear night, I'd love to do that." Joe made a mental note.

"Ame, I have to tell you something. I've gone back and forth between telling you and not telling you, but I want to be honest with you always, and even though it's kinda minor, it's been bothering me for a while." He took a big breath and let it out as he continued to play with her fingers in his hands. "That day we met at the restaurant with Dave and Bekah wasn't actually a chance meeting. Bekah had set it up. It wasn't fate that had us meeting again, but Bekah and her idea that we might be good together as a couple."

"Oh, Joe... I knew that!" Ame informed him and laughed when she saw how serious the look on his face was. "You didn't know that from the beginning? I've known Bekah since she started at the library, and we only ever talk about books and school courses since she's in the same field. We've never once talked about anything else except when I graduated, I told her I wasn't coming straight back to work because I was going to San Diego. When I ran into them on Christmas Eve, I heard Dave's last name and asked if he was your younger brother. Of course, I knew that he

was

, but I was hinting that I'd like to see you. Bekah just took it and ran with it. I just hadn't realized that Bekah and Dave were so close. Like I said, we only ever really talked about work or school."

Joe shook his head. "When Bekah let it slip that she'd set us up, I was livid. I even called her by her full name, and I only

ever

call her Beck-Beck. Even Dave had to tell me to back off when I got so upset with her. I really thought you'd thought it was all a random coincidence that we'd met."

"I appreciate your honesty, Joe, and I'm thrilled that Bekah took the hint so I could

happen

to run into you that day. Part of me is still mad at high school senior Ame who didn't just ask you to go out with her back when we first met. But I guess with all the time I was away at school and stuff, it's probably better the way it all played out."

"So, you really knew?" Joe asked and shook his head. "Man, they probably think I'm such a dork. Ah well. It all worked out, and I'm guessing even better than Beck-Beck realized, huh?"

"Oh, I think it worked out really well," she purred as she looked up at his face and brought his lips down onto hers. He deepened their kiss and felt himself once again wishing they were already on their wedding night.

"Well, the other question I have can wait until we settle into bed. Are you ready?" She nodded, so he got up to pull back the covers and turned out the light. She reached over and grabbed the remote from the table on her side of the bed and clicked on the nightlight.

"Red and solid," she announced and set the remote back down before moving over to lay her nearly naked body against him again. She'd taken off her shirt again once she'd gotten under the covers.

"OK, last topic of the night," he claimed and slid his hand down her side toward her butt. "You've seen the house. First impression of the most ideal place to have a wild experience? And where do you want to do it?"

"The sunroom, actually, but I can't pinpoint why," Ame answered honestly.

"Me too!" Joe told her and laughed. "Maybe all that stargazing you'll want to do will put us in a special mood."

"Joe, I don't need to stargaze to be put in a special mood," she stated as she slid her hand which had been on his chest down to his stomach. "I just need to be with you. You always put me in a special mood," she teased as she proceeded to move her hand down a little farther.

"Ame, we said..." he began and trailed off.

"I know," she breathed. "I'm not going to," she assured him as she moved her hand back up onto his chest. "I was just proving a point."

"Point proven," he breathed and reached down to take her hand and brought it to his mouth. He kissed the palm of her hand and held it to his cheek.

"So, about the house," Ame said and looked up at him. "It's perfect for the wedding. It'll be so lovely. The bed is beautiful. The shower is amazing. The hot tub is great. I thought the twinkling lights were nice. The other side of the bed is missing something though. I just can't figure out what should go there. Almost like a table and chairs for a breakfast nook or a couch and chair with a large TV or something. As for places to do it? Besides everywhere?

Hmm

... shower, hot tub, bed, of course."

"Did Beck-Beck tell you what was on the other side of the bed when they stayed there?" Joe asked and kissed the tips of each of her fingers.

"No, I don't think so," Ame responded and watched as he played with her hand. "Like I said, there weren't specifics."

"Beck-Beck loves balloons," Joe informed her, "so Dave had 100 colorful blown-up balloons on the floor and called it their balloon pit, you know, along the lines of a ball pit. He basically hinted that they did a few things over there."

"That's awesome," Ame replied and closed her eyes. He wondered if she was envisioning it.

As for doing it, I was thinking sunroom, kitchen floor, stairs," Joe listed thoughtfully and licked one of her fingers and then stuck her ring finger into his mouth. He managed to use his teeth to take the ring off her finger and slid her finger back out of his mouth as he held the ring with his teeth.

"

Mmm

," he hummed as he took the ring out of his mouth and held it up in front of her. "Who knew this little piece of jewelry could do and say so much?" He thought about how much power it'd had over him when he first saw it. He thought of the pride she'd had when she showed it off for the pictures they'd taken. And then he thought about how he felt when she left it with him that night. He kissed it and then put it back on her finger.

"I love you," Ame sighed and cupped his face with her hand. "I hope you never doubt that. With all my heart, Joseph Robert Nickels, I love you." She brought his face to hers and kissed his lips gently. She put her forehead against his lips and let out a little sob.

"Ame? What's wrong, sweetheart?"

"I know how much it hurt you when I gave back the ring last week, and I feel so bad about it," she cried. "I don't want you to think I could do something like that again. I'm here. I don't plan to go anywhere. I always want to be with you, by your side. I'm just so sorry," she promised him and put her head back on her own pillow.

He leaned over to put his head on her pillow too and turned his body to press against hers. "Hey, we're all good, Ame. I was technically wrong in presenting it the way I did about our move, so I don't blame you for feeling the way you did. I was worried, yes, but I knew in my heart it wasn't over. You came back. You talked not only to me but to my whole family about what was bothering you and made sure to lay it all out there. I'm sure to make the next mistake in this relationship, so we can already count us even."

"How do you figure?" she sniffed and wrapped her arm around him.

"Oh, Nana says we boys are good for many things, but only one guarantee... that we'll mess up. I'm sure at least once during the honeymoon, you'll find something to get upset with me about. Hopefully, we'll get to find out why there's such big talk about make-up sex while we're over there. And if not, I'll find the stupidest thing to fight with you about just so we can have it."

"Promise?" she questioned with a smile and cupped his face again.

"I do," he told her and kissed her with such intensity that even

he

lost his train of thought. They continued to kiss and then began naming a few more places or types of positions they'd like to try.

"Oral, for sure," he mentioned and licked her neck. "I cannot wait to taste you and watch you reach an orgasm that way."

"

Mmm

, well, that goes both ways," she answered and slid her hand down to his butt. He playfully pressed himself against her so she couldn't touch him

there

, because if she did, he didn't have the willpower to keep her from doing so.

"You on top," he stated and nodded. "Yes, for sure, I want to see you taking control."

"Doggy style?" she asked and looked up at his face to see what his reaction was.

"I want to try all the positions," he admitted. "I mean, I can't wait to make love to you, but then there's just

fun

sex. I want to do both kinds, and lots of it."

"Oh, yeah," she sighed, "we're going to need some lubricant for this journey, I think. I mean, I know I'll be good to go for the first few rounds, but I also know how much we want to do. And it might just be smart for us to be prepared."

"Do you want me to get that?" Joe asked her and kissed her forehead. "I had some other ideas for things, so I was going to stop and get stuff for the week."

"What ideas? And yes, I think after tonight, I don't know how much more shopping I can take. If you already planned to get stuff, I'll leave it to you."

"Done. And the ideas are still just ideas. I think I'm going to present them to you that night. So, I have a request. Stay out of the honeymoon suite until I bring you up there on Saturday after Mass. Sound OK?"

"I love surprises, Joe," she told him and kissed his ear. "I'll steer clear. I promise." She was quiet for a few seconds and then spoke up again. "Desserts?"

"As in, mixing desserts and sex?" Joe asked her which resulted in Ame's laughter. "Am I right?" Ame laughed again. "God, I

knew

I caught a good one when I got you," he claimed and laughed as he kissed her neck. "Hell yes, we'll have all the chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and sprinkles."

"So, kitchen floor, huh?" Ame asked and sighed as he continued to lick her neck and nibble at her ear. "Man, that feels good, Joe. It's like torture, but blissfully so."

"Torture?" he asked quietly against her ear and pulled away. "I swear I heard that being said a lot between Dave and Beck the week before their wedding. "'Hurt so good,'" he sang quietly and slid his hands up her back. "'Come on, baby, make it hurt so good,'" he continued and brought his mouth down onto her nipple. He nipped at it with his teeth which made her jump and moan. "Yep," he assured her as he moved to her other one, "pure torture," he added and took it into his mouth. "God, Ame, you are so effing hot," he moaned and pressed her breasts closer to his mouth.

"Effing, huh?" she teased as she arched her back and moaned through the tingles he was causing under her skin. "Funny, I seem to remember a much harsher word being said when you were finding a certain release in the hot tub down in San Diego and in the shower here just this morning."
